Appearance: Erellisae will generally be seen in a loose white skirt or dress, with Erellisae preferring a gold trim - while not as full as a traditional mage robe, it nevertheless looks the part of the adventuring mage to Erellisae's eyes. She has a mass of blonde hair, frequently hanging at least partially over large green eyes. She's beautiful, though in a fairly cutesy way - she's only 16, after all. Her eyes will shine with happiness on most all occasions, with her enthusiam - or her anger, or mischievousness, or sadness - clearly visible on her face. Erellisae's heart is rarely off her sleeve.
Background: Erellisae grew up in the town of Merrill, a quiet town, and felt stifled through every second of it. She wanted to be somewhere lively, and to compensate she voraciously read any account of adventure or excitement she could lay her hands on. Thus, she grew up primarily with the tales of Justin, Feena, Raff and Liete, and how they saved the world. Enthralled by such tales, but too young to actually do anything about it, Erellisae threw herself into her studies, to be able to better go on an adventure just like Justin's.
As she studied, she showed exceptional ability at magic, and worked to further that. Given she was at least sensible enough to realise she'd never be cut out for fighting, having a slight build and little strength, this suited her just fine - and the fact she found the little cantrips she cast to have a very pretty effect to her eyes was a bonus.
In the meantime, Erellisae's friendly disposition and energy made her naturally able to make friends in the village. Indeed, with her enthusiasm it would often be more of the case that she would declare herself someone's friend, and in between the hugging and the smiling and laughing, the other person would forget the actual declaration of friendship. Something about Erellisae's openness makes it very easy for her to make friends.
Until she was nearly 16, she lived the life of any normal young girl, playing around and having a good time, but spending rather more time than usual studying magic as much as possible. While the boys were running around with swords shouting they wanted to be Justin, she was throwing sparks and wanting to be Feena. Her parents were a little worried at this slightly abnormal behavior, rather preferring that she'd swap her spell notes for dolls and the like, but Erellisae was irrepressable, and went right on studying, finding various (often late-night) solutions to her parents denying her time to study.
As much as she tried to enjoy her friends' company, however, it was hard for her to concentrate on much but her eagerness to go on an adventure, and she slowly grew apart from the friends she'd made as she focused herself for her big adventure. In the end, Erellisae spent her days studying and her nights eagerly reading and listening to stories of the heroes. Her parents, realising this, took steps to try to keep her under their thumb.
To her mind, the only logical conclusion was to do exactly what Justin the Hero did - run away. Slipping away in the middle of the night and clambering aboard a carriage bound for New Parm, Erellisae intended to get to Parm itself, the same starting point, and then figure everything else out from there. She figured, rather naively, that everything would come together, and with her enthusiasm, it probably will. Especially given that Erellisae managed to miss the fact that she was considerably more gifted at magic at age 10 than most of the 18-year-old mages in town. What she attributes to her zeal for adventure may be something much more destined than simple eagerness...
Personality: Erellisae's happiness is often irrepressable - she is naturally happy and sunny, thinking the best of everyone and seeing the best of life. Somehow, this openness tends to sweep other people away with it, and Erellisae likes the way this tends to snowball, improving a bad mood when she can and working to make everyone happy. Erellisae always has a smile, and will always try to enliven a situation. Indeed, she can be rather prone to being too happy and cheery at times. More than one elderly adult has found her a little too saccharine to take.
Sometimes, though, her happiness will wane - she's still young, and despite her eagerness to go on an adventure she's still hit by homsickness from time to time. Whenever a period of doubt hits, she'll become sullen and upset, but she'll try her best to hide it behind a smile - it wouldn't do for a heroine to be homesick, she feels. Her shields can often be good enough for those who don't know her to not notice any different, but anyone that knows her just a little will realise all too well that she's upset.
Despite her life, Erellisae still has a lot of growing up to do. She's often immature, and any mention of the heroes (let alone the thought of meeting one of them) will get her into a frenzy of enthusiam and giggling. She's often very naive, and as such could well get into serious trouble in the adult world - gods know how she was able to reach Parm in one piece, without money and little else but her charm to aid her.
The other major moodswing she'll have is considerably more dangerous to the state of affairs in the world - when she suddenly turns mischievous, all around her should fear. Despite her naivety, Erellisae is startlingly intelligent and has a very active imagination when it comes to things she can do to people. From simple cantrips to make people jump or trick them, to fireballing someone because the resulting explosion looks pretty, Erellisae will do it all, if she's of a mind to.
Though it may seem strange, Erellisae is also capable of being serious, too, though generally only when it has to do with the big adventure she is certain she's destined for, or when the mood is solemn enough to quell even her enthusiasm. By the same vein, while Erellisae tends to see the best in people, it's a very bad idea to get on her bad side - those that do will have quite the vindictive mage on their hands, and she can hold a grudge a long time, with her enthusiasm often being converted into resolve to fireball the offending party.
Typically, when Erellisae is in a thoughtful mood she'll be scribbling in her ever-present journal. She keeps this to keep a faint track of the records of her adventure-to-be, and while there are frequent scribblings, smiley faces, doodles, and other such mannerisms, her journal nevertheless can give a good impression of what has occured and how she feels, though since she'd never let anyone short of her idols look at it, it's rather a moot point.
All in all, Erellisae is the archetypal optimistic young girl who believes adventures are happy, sunny things that come along of their own will. Quite whether that is what awaits her in the town of Parm, and whether she'll ever be as famous as (or get to meet) Justin and Feena, she believes she will implicitly and will follow her goal with as much enthusiasm and happiness as she can muster - a formidable amount.
Updates—spoiler warning!
Erellisae has known for some time that the Icarian Temple was after her, thinking her special for some reason, though she did not understand why. Recently, however, Gyan Amsered revealed to her the source of her strong magical powers and her unusual appearance. It turns out that Erellisae is actually not human, but of the Lumian race—the ancient race that acted as priests and priestesses of the Icarians and preservers of knowledge in the time of Angelou, a race to which Liete of Alent belongs. Apparently this has something to do with why the Icarian Temple is looking for her.
Erellisae has now discovered that the Icarian Church believes that some great disaster is coming, probably the revival of Gaia, and they wanted Erellisae to speak to the Icarians on their behalf, trying to convince them they are needed to defend the world from Gaia. The Temple's methods leave much to be desired, however, and Erellisae is still unconvinced of the need for her aid. After their treatment of Mitsuo, she has no desire to help them whatsoever, but Jiandir has conceded defeat and promised that Erellisae, Mitsuo, Feena, and Leen will no longer be troubled by the Icarian Church.
Erellisae and Feray have formed a strong bond and have declared themselves sisters. Feray gave Erellisae tattoos in the same style as her own, only Erel's are a pattern of winding flames and wind gusts, to represent her magic, twining around her wrists. She has also discarded her staff and is learning to fight in the twin daggers style Feray uses. Erellisae is determined to prove herself worthy of having Feray for a sister and to get Feray and Nathan together, whether they like it or not. ;)
