The fragrance of tropical flowers wafts in on the sleeping travelers, reunited once more after they went their separate ways the previous evening...some to see the sights, some to shop, some to play detective. Sue rises early, dressing and getting ready for the summit before anyone else is awake. She is almost ready to go out the door when others start to regain consciousness... * Nathan dozes in bed, having woken up a while ago * Erellisae zooms downstairs, the odd scrap of paper falling from her diary as she rushes downstairs, pencil held between her teeth. While it impedes her speech slightly, the traditional call can be plainly heard. "Goooooooooooouud muuuuuuuurnin'!" ^_^ Mitsuo's bed in the men's bedroom is conspicuously empty... Ah, the morning has now arived ^_- * Mikari sleeps in late for once, and is just waking up. * Nathan rolls out of bed and goes through his morning whatnot * Feray raises an eyebrow and sits up in her bed, hair mussed. "....I'm going to have nightmares of loud yells of 'goooooood morning!'...." Sue chuckles and gives Feray a sympathetic pat on the head as she grabs her things. * Erellisae sits at the breakfast table, eschewing food and instead scribbling determinedly in her book, tongue sticking out slightly in concentration. Woah.....girl...you on your way already? [Sue] I have to be at the Summit early...any of you are welcome to join me when you're ready, or you can go about your business for today. It's up to you. * Feray blinks at Sue sleepily ^^; * Nathan hops out of the bathroom as he puts the rest of his clothes on, "Wakey wakey you...two?" * Nathan counts beds versus bodies * Mikari gets out of bed promptly but grumpily. Ah...okay...wave hi to that cutie Gyan for me. ;) * Jalanda does not seem to be at the inn with the others, but you can plainly see her bed's been slept in last night. She must be off somewhere once again... Something are amiss methinks I'm in no hurry, Sue. Seeya'round. * Nathan heads out to gather with the rest of the group Sue snickers. [Sue] Taken a fancy to him, have you? Whatcha think of the great sage? He's very intelligent and sweet. ^^ He seems very aware of everything around him. He also has a nice set of buns. Sue shrugs at the absence of Jalanda, thinking she probably went out for an early breakfast. She nods to Mikari. "All right, see ya then." * Feray strokes down her hair and tucks it into a loose hanging ponytail. * Dylan sits up slowly.. * Nathan plants himself down at the breakfast table Hmmm... morning... bleh.. too hot.. * Mikari waves to Sue and raises an eyebrow at the comment Sue apparently missed coming from Feray Sue laughs. [Sue] Good eye you've got there, Feray. Well, anyway, I don't actually know much about him, but he does tend to have women follow him around because of his looks. ^^; Frankly drives him up the wall, from what I hear...makes him very uncomfortable. [Sue] But anyway, I'm off! *She leaves the room and waves to the guys gathering out in the hall. [Sue] Morning! Howdy ^_^ * Feray clambers out of bed, smoothing down her clothes and stretching, her back popping loudly. "Mm. Uncomfortable." * Dill flaps around lazily * Erellisae looks up briefly to wave to Sue. "Bye!" :D * Feray turns to eye Mikari. "Hey, you're not up yet? Should I grab some breakfast aside for you?" Sue waves and smiles at Erellisae on her way out the door, then leaves the inn and heads for the Council Hall. * Dylan turns up at the breakfast table, dressed in light baggy clothes... he yawns and scratches his belly absentmindedly Morning Erellisae. Sleep well? * Mikari waves vaguely with a yawn and turns to Feray. "Yeah, rough day. 'didn't 'zactly get any real rest las'night. * Jalanda is noticed by Sue sitting in on a park bench near some very aromatic and colorful flowers. She seems to be meditating upon something deeply. * Feray chuckles and winks. "I hear you. See ya down there." Morning Dylan ^_^ Sue waves good morning to Jalanda as she passes. [Sue] Hi there...sleep well? You're up early. Yeah, breakfast sounds damgood right 'bout now... * Feray heads downstairs, sliding down the banister! ^^ * Erellisae nods to Nathan. "Uh-hn!" ^_^ Nice entrance Feray. Morning to you also ^_- Morning, Nathan. How was your night? Hiya, sailor. ^_- * Feray saunters to the table and plunks herself down! * Jalanda raises her head from the trance, smiling once. "Ah... yes, I did not sleep too much last night. I was calming myself by making another attempt to find the pair..." I slept well I think. I wasn't awake for most of it ^_- * Mikari smiles with some effort and grabs her stuff to follow Feray, not quite so chipper but still awake on time... * Dylan smiles, and wipes his brow.. That's good.. hmm. I wonder if they have any salad.. Morning Mikari. Come join us for grub * Dylan looks at the menu.. apparently thinking.. [Sue] *turning to Jalanda* Did you learn anything? Anyone seen Mitsuo by the by? * Erellisae tears off a number of pages from her book suddenly, then snaps her book shut. With a wave and a "Bye!" to the room, she zips off out the door. ^_^ * Feray grins at her friends and then loses the cheer. "He's not around?" Mornin', Nate. ^_~ Mmm, grub... Nope. He didn't sleep in his bed last night I have not seen Mitsuo.. but I got in rather late.. was catching up with my elders. Huh. Did anyone see him at all last night? No clue. Best ask some'n' else. * Jalanda intones softly, "I have a feeling something very oppressive is blocking my divination of their whereabouts. I should have known by now." * Feray looks concerned. "I last saw him looking for his representative.." But... do not let me misdirect your efforts today. You have a council to attend, miss Sue. Hmm...let's not be concerned just yet. But let's go see his rep and find out what happened yesterday with Mitsuo His representative is a sage, yes? They tend to have a bad track of time... he's probably discussing something obscure. Sue frowns thoughtfully. [Sue] Hmmmm. Either there's some more spiritual reason for that, or someone is blocking your viewing. Which would imply we have several very good sorcerors as our enemies as well... * Nathan nods to Dylan Feh. *Mikari snorts amusedly, not intending to be rude* 'sgood to trust yer instincts, but there're limits Jally... Sue nods to Jalanda. [Sue] You're right...I have to go. I'll be in the Council Hall if anyone needs me. See you later, Jalanda! *Heads off to the hall* Sounds like a plan to me. Oh...and, uh, Gyan would like for us to pay him a visit later.. * Nathan counts faces again, "We're still missing more than Mistuo, right?" * Dylan looks around.. Jal isn't around...but she went to bed last night.. Hmm... well.. Ms. Erellisae dashed off.. who is isn't here? Rion isn't up yet I think * Rion is upstairs snoring.. * * Jalanda nods once, then arises from her seat, surmising she should return to the others. Should I go wake him? ;) Eh, y'so worried 'bout Mits. I don't have an'thing better to do; want I should look for 'im after breakfast? If you like ^_- * Feray grins playfully and hops out of her chair. "Be back in a few." * Feray runs up the stairs and into the guys room.. ^^ * Dylan shakes his head in amusement.. Remind me not to sleep in.. Hmm...I'd rather we didn't split up any further than we already are * Feray eyes the sleeping Rion evilly. * Nathan chuckles at Dylan * Mikari grins amusedly as Feray goes off to bug Rion. * Rion is peacefully snoring away, pleasantly oblivious to the world. * * Jalanda appears in the inn doorway after awhile, pausing to look around it for her companions. * Dylan waves to Jal * Feray straightens her shoulders and heads to Rion's bedside...she leans over him, brushing her lips lightly against his ear, her voice husky but loud. "Hello, handsome...time to wake up and face the day...." * Nathan waves at Jalanda, "Hey there stranger, pull up a rock and join us." ^_- * Rion 's eyes snap open.. and wordlessly he turns to look Feray in the face with an expression of horror. * O_o * Mikari watches Feray amusedly from the doorway. * Feray grins wickedly at Rion. ;) ... * Jalanda shuffles over, finding a seat. "I hope I did not miss breakfast." Aw, what, am I not your type? ;) Too tall? Too tattoo'd? Too pointy ear'd? Nah, we haven't ordered yet. Still muttering amongst ourselves * Feray straightens up ^^ ... * Rion blinks. * I see... and Sue has already gone to the assembly. We should not be far behind her... * Mikari crosses her arms and waits for Rion to get his butt downstairs before Feray teases him to death. Alrrrrrrrriiiiiighty then. Have you seen Mitsuo at all Jalanda? * Dylan turns to Jalanda * Feray wanders back to her spot at the table.. ^^ Oh hey...Jal is back! ^^ No, I'm afraid I haven't.... is he unaccounted for? * Mitsuo enters, as if on cue to Nathan's question...and proceeds to trip on a throw rug. Gaah! I was thinking of asking around for where our errant heroes have gone.. and to see if I could get some maps of the area.. * Rion grins, and sits up slowly.. * Hmm.. * Feray sweatdrops at Mitsuo. ^^; * Jalanda tilts her head slightly. 'Morning Mitsuo, have fares you? * Mikari gets bored with the show and goes downstairs, now hearing Mitsuo and just about everyone else together down there. * Mitsuo gets to his feet, "I fare just fine...I have our answer...at least on what poisoned us." ...? Oh? * Dylan raise an eyebrow. And? Do tell * Rion stumbles down the stairs after a while, in stylish rumpled clothing typical of the young adventurer. * Yeah, I went to my Master and he offered to do some testing on the wine glasses we drank out of ... * Nathan waves Rion over * Feray loses some of her cheer, eyeing Mitsuo. "And?" * Rion moseys on over, letting out a big yawn and dropping down into a chair. * * Mitsuo sits down at the table, "...Have any of you heard of a poison made by a spider called ....I think it's called the Reaper's Scourge." * Mikari takes a seat two away from Nathan, and nods Rion to the seat Nathan is gesturing at between them. * Feray pauses for a moment before turning to her food and shovelling some in her mouth quietly. * Dylan shakes his head.. Can't say I have.. Any dangerous side-effects? Well, it's very rare...Derlin helped my master with this too...and according to them it can only be found in the Misty forest... * Feray swallows her food hard. "And it causes people to be extremely serious and mopey." Sounds familiar. But I dn'know the chemistry of it. The question is who gave it to us? Not what exactly it was. * Dylan turns to Feray Well...normally as far as I know the spider bites you. Ow ow....major poison...can be fatal if it's not treated... Good thing little Erellisae wasn't affect.. ... * Feray stands loudly, her chair shoved back. I'm going to go join Sue. When it's injested...It's slower acting but even more deadly. Whoever gave it to us was trying to kill us. ....Feray? * Jalanda bows her head a moment. "Yes, this sounds true. The poisonw as quite powerful." See you later, Ms. Feray. ...Ne'er nice to hear, 'say. * Feray gives Dylan an icy look before turning to Mitsuo. "Nothing, fiddler. Gonna go talk to Sue about this, that's all." * Feray heads out the door. ... ...What the heck was that about? O_o * Dylan blinks... * Dylan looks around the room.. Anyone else understand that? * Jalanda narrows her eyes a bit towards the door. "I believe it is best to let such things rest for now." * Rion replies, with a mouth full of pancake. * Noph. * Mikari studies Feray as she leaves and raises both eyebrows inquisitively at Dylan. * Mitsuo coughs, "...as far as who did it...I'm not sure. Since it's so rare...my bets are they're from Elnicia...or have contacts there. * Nathan considers what's been said ...Is there anyone who hails from there? What about our lovely Icarian temple people? That doesn't narrow down the list that much.. It could be the Devotees, or people trying to frame them. * Nathan stands up and starts pacing as he thinks I could do a bit of undercover work... And it's rarity is such an obvious clue, that it could be a false lead. As Feray exits the inn, she encounter an official-looking guard, carrying a spear, posted at the door. O_o * Jalanda ponders something... ....woah. * Feray skids to a stop and eyes the guard. "...who're you?" [Guard] Guardsman Cairos, official guard for the Summit of Nations. *he speaks in a quick, military manner* * Feray eyes Cairos. "And you're standing here because?" Hmm... [Guard] Councilman Gyan's orders, ma'am! More guards available upon request, should you so wish. So, Mitsuo, what kind of investigation could you do? * Feray raises both eyebrows and grins faintly. "He sent a guard even when I told him not to? Hah!" * Mitsuo hmms, "I could just keep hidden...listen in on conversations if possible." Hm. 'zmuch as I'd just looove to blame everythin' on those Icarian-worshippin' idiots, there might be someone else involved. *Mikari looks annoyed at the thought, sitting at the table* [Cairos] It is my understanding that he believed it necessary for the safety of your party. I have the suspicion the Temple cult is not all that they seem... desire and illusion hang about them like a fog. But I have a feeling even this is not the whole truth of their nature. * Feray reaches out to tap Cairos' breastplate. "Well, you should go in and introduce yourself to the party, then." Right...so a little bit of snooping is probably in order. A means to an end perhaps, not a means in and of itself Blame is easy to place.. but hard to be true. [Cairos] Perhaps I will when my replacement comes at shift change, ma'am. *Ever serious, and continually scanning the street for any threat, like a good little guardsman* Blame is easier to work with when you have someone to stick it on But, to more pressing matters, what should we do today? * Feray shakes her head. "Alright. But don't blame me when you get questioned so much your head spins." ^^ Good question Right...*stands up, pushing the chair in* ...Right now, we have no real evidence. At least...no evidence that'll bin it on anyone. We need to find out who did this." [Cairos] I thank you for the warning, ma'am. *Salutes* * Dylan nods. * Feray sweatdrops. "...yes, well, uh...at ease there, soldier." * Feray shakes her head and turns, heading towards the assembly. But, finding J and F, is just as important Eh.. The church ain't after money, I bet; they want other things. Maybe they're teamed with some'n' who is after a bit of gold in this. * Erellisae comes running, and with a fast "Hi Feray Hi Mr. Guardsman" she has nipped back into the tavern. ... * Feray pauses. Hey...Cairos, was it? Cairos salutes to Erellisae! ^^ * Rion munches on some other assorted foods.. * Hi again Erell ^_- [Cairos] Yes, ma'am? Of course, ma'am. *He smiles slightly* * Jalanda adds, "In regard to Justin and Feena... I'm afraid I've come to the conclusion something very dark obscures them from me." Welcome back, Ms. Erellisae, how are you? * Erellisae zips back to her seat, grabbing assorted foods. "Aaaah...! I'm so hungry!" ;_; 'Mornin', Goldstreak. Had breakfast? ...Er, well. Guess y'have now. Hmm...well, consider this: someone wanted us dead. Perhaps so as not to have Sue's testimony at the coucil. That's been done * Erellisae positively tears into her food with gusto, before slowing down /fast/ at Nathan's comment. "...dead?" I have a feeling that wine was meant for Sue, and we were just unlucky to be there. For all we know, this could have been planned far in advance. Mitsuo? Could you explain it to Erellisae? It seems that the poison was of a deadly variety, we were quite fortunate/ * Jalanda partakes of some food, and her customary tea while she has this chance. * Erellisae quietens down rather more, looking down at the table and making fists with her hands. ^^; "Grr..." Hmm? Oh yeah. ^^; * Mitsuo quickly explains to Erel all that he discovered this morning. * Mikari nods, always annoyed when somebody tries to kill her when she's off the clock The question we should be looking at now is: is there additional damage we, or more specifically Sue, present to the Temple's cause * Mikari bites into a morning biscuit idly while the conversation continues. ... didn't Sue leave for the summit by herself? :/ The way I see it, today we can either Sit in on the assembly, or start asking around for sign of Justin or Feena. . o O ( If I could just find more evidence... ) the discussion shall be brought up today. It is only a matter of when. ...Maybe we should split up...I was planning on heading back to the summit. * Rion doesn't pay attention to all that much. * * Erellisae nods to Mitsuo. "I'll go with you... I wanna try to tell some other of Sue's friends... we could use their help." :/ * Jalanda looks over to Mitsuo, studying him. Let's not split ourselves up too thinly. We may still be in danger at this point * Mitsuo nods, and smiles, "That sounds good. Feray went to the summit too, so I'm sure she'll help me out." Well, I suppose we should go to the summit then, a day or two is unlikely to matter in our search. Some of us could scour the sumit, while others look about town Eh, there's strength'n numbers, Nate, but it is good t'have a backup too. ...I don't think we should all go, though... In this case, I'm sure that whoever did this has his eye on us...and too many of us in one place will attract attention. Agreed As I brought up the matter of the Temple's misconduct, I should probably go to the summit. Well.. if you split up, that'd make you easier to pick off, too. So maybe the big group thing isn't so bad. * Erellisae nods, biting into and holding her pastry between her teeth as she roots through her stuff. "FFefer fey, fe fave fo fatch fup fith Fue! Do not let ambition trap you. * Nathan considers options * Mitsuo blinks a few times at Jalanda, "...I'm not..." * Dylan stands up. * Erellisae actually eats her pastry, swallows, then sweatdrops. "Er. Either way, we have to catch up with Sue! She could be in danger!" Let us go to the summit now, some of us can always leave later. * Dylan walks to the door. Those who want to head to the summit should do so * Dylan steps out the door, and blinks at the guard. * Erellisae nods, slinging her backpack on her shoulders and setting off after Dylan... before hesitating, and grabbing another pastry for the road. ^^; * Mitsuo suddenly heads out the door after Dylan. * Dylan points at the guard. Hi, Mr. Guard! :D * Mikari rises, finishes the rest of the biscuit quickly, takes a quick swig of beverage, and follows the rest of them. Hey, was this guy hear last night? Cairos salutes. * Jalanda finishes up, and arises from her place. * Nathan pauses before heading out I don't think so... * Dylan turns to the guard Excuse me, who are you? Irritatingly I can't put my finger on it.) Oh, do you have any proof? * Erellisae peers at the guard's armour. "Shiny..." :D * Jalanda walks to the door, apparently recognizing the guard from before. She bows her head respectfully to him. Cairos fumbles in his collar, then pulls out an ID tag around his neck. It looks fairly official, with the Chandrinos seal stamped into the metal. * Dylan nods Okay, I was just worried at armed men outside where I sleep. * Dylan walks off to the summit * Mitsuo quietly follows Dylan, lost in thought [Cairos] Not to worry. I am here for your protection, as ordered by the High Council and Councilman Gyan. * Erellisae follows after the pair, looking a little worriedly at Mitsuo. * Dylan prods Mitsuo in the chest I'd be inclined t'agree with 'im... but I don't like official guards outside much better. Sir Cairos. Would you please continue to watch the area for suspicious activity? We will be alright on our own from here to the meeting. 'Ey oop. You okay? Uh? Oh...I'm fine. Don't worry. [Cairos] Yes, ma'am, I will. Thinking is all. :) * Jalanda bows once more, and follows the others to the summit. Okay then. :)" * Jalanda looks his direction. "If you would see the city, find out details about a good captain we might employ. I'm sure your instinct will be true as an adventurer." * Rion grins. * Gotcha, babe. * Rion makes like a banana, and splits. * * Jalanda smiles slightly. * Jalanda continues along to the summit. We'd better hurry, or we'll miss most of the summit, eh? ^^ Heh. I'm inclined t'gree with Rion. See ya.... I'll stick nearby 'case there's trouble. * Dylan see the building of the summit up ahead * Mikari takes off with little warning. For such great decisions.. even this building can seem small. * Jalanda nods to Mikari. "If that is your wish." As they approach, they hear through the open doors of the hall the sounds of debate.... * Mikari gestures a quick 'bye" to Jalanda as she leaves * Dylan hurries forward, nodding at the guards * Erellisae yays quietly as they enter the huge building and see all the big important people again. :D [Monaghan Trimble] ...would like to politely request that the council have this matter investigated... * Mitsuo blinks, overhearing the talk. Monaghan Trimble, current president of the Adventurer's Society, is standing and addressing the hall as they enter. * Dylan finds a seat near Sue, and sits down quietly. * Feray is sitting beside Sue, chin in her hand and gazing at the speaker curiously. Sue waves and smiles to the others, whispering. [Sue] Didn't miss too much...mostly just trade and discussions of agricultural matters. * Mitsuo sits down in his seat, keeping quiet and investigating everyone with his eyes. Hey, agricultural matters are important too. ^_- [Monaghan] This water monster, whatever it is, could be a danger to more than just adventurers, who are used to facing danger. If it got free and attacked civilians, however, it could be disastrous. * Jalanda enters the building quietly, trailing Dylan into Sue's box at the meeting. She folds her robe and sits down discreetly. * Dylan says quietly "Sea Monster?" * Feray considers Monaghan's words, blinking. * Erellisae sits down, paying rapt attention to the current debate... sort of, as her eyes wander to more familiar faces from tales. ^^; * Mitsuo 's eyes just wander, gazing intently at the Icarian temple section. There is some quick discussion between the council members, and then Gadwin stands to address the issue. [Gadwin] A team will be sent to investigate. This will take some time, however, as it is not an immediate threat, and other matters concern us now. Monaghan nods, accepting the decision, and sits. . o O (I'm suprised Justin and Feena haven't chsed it down.) Dangerous.. but our business may be urgent.. hmm.. * Erellisae prods Nathan, whispering. "We should go take that on! We've killed sea monsties before!" :D * Nathan is oddly enough, not there * Mitsuo continues to look around, not listening to the discussion much. * Jalanda notices Nathan's absence with her stare, but she does not say anything. * Feray notices the severe lack of hunky sailorness and frowns slightly. Mullen stands next, reading from a scroll. [Mullen] Next order of business... the Guild of Tradesman in New Parm has brought forward the question of smuggling and pirating, a new illicit trade that has sprung up these last 8 months or so between New Parm and Talachia... * Feray chews her bottom lip... A delegate stands from the New Parm delegation and launches into a long tirade. [Delegate] ...and we have reason to believe they are dealing in weapons, hazardous substances, drugs, dangerous new technology, poisons, illegal artifacts... . o O ( ...Ugh. C'mon, summit people...give me some sort of body language here...a sign? Spirits? Hello? Help here...? ) The delegation from the Icarian Temple begins to look restless. * Feray blinks and murmurs. "Poisons..." * Jalanda looks at Nathan's empty seat again. "...I see he has gone looking for answers." * Mitsuo blinks, and notices this, watching intently. . o O ( Thanks, Spirits... ) Hmm. Maybe the poison was smuggled in. . o O ( Could this group be smugglers? ) The long-winded delegate winds down his plea, and the council confers. The decision is, not surprisingly, to send a team to investigate the reported smuggling and to up patrols in the Narrow Sea. Mio stands with a sigh, reading off her scroll. [Mio] Next topic: The Icarian Temple's request for the Icarians, Feena and Leen, to move to New Parm... * Mitsuo tries not to laugh, biting his lip, "...^^;" * Dylan shorts derisvely * Erellisae blinks, her mind going back to the current debate, and she hmpgs, looking petulant. A random delegate stands in the Icarian Temple section (Jiandir is conspicuously absent) and looks pompous, ready to speak, but Mio gestures first to Sue, who winks at the party before standing. [Sue] Denied. *Sweet smile, sits again* * Mitsuo bites his lip harder. ^^; [Mio] The Icarians refuse the request. The council declines to force the issue. *Looking amused, she turns to Gyan, who stands next.* * Feray snickers softly and eyes the rising Gyan with interest. [Gyan] The Icarian Temple will now answer the accusations placed yesterday morning, in order to determine the validity of their own presence here... * Feray gets a slight smile at that statement. Jiandir runs in, robes flapping behind him, and takes his place, becoming once more dignified and stately as he sets down a stack of papers and smooths his robes. * Mitsuo raises an eyebrow at this. [Jiandir] Yes, Councilman. *Brandishes some papers* If the council will review these documents, they will find evidence of a renegade faction among those in the Temple.... ...Renagade Fraction...? O_o He's trying to say that while certain people in his group did the act, he never condoned it and the rest shouldn't be held responsible, Mitsuo. No no...I know what he's talking about. O_o [Jiandir] These members of the Temple chose, of their own volition and without instigation, to attempt to prevent Sue from speaking for the Icarians. * Feray raises an eyebrow. . o O ( But why would he even mention this at all? Wouldn't someone like him cover it up no matter what? ) * Erellisae hmphs, quite loudly. "A renegade faction?! He was the one who kidnapped me!" Jiandir begins to rattle off all kinds of evidence, naming a few names. About three of the delegates from his group glare icily at him; he glares back. As the evidence mounts against them, they stand smoothly and stalk out in protest...but they are intercepted by guards. Hmmm.. * Mitsuo closes his eyes... The council whispers, and Gyan speaks again. [Gyan] Those responsible will be held for questioning, and those not here will be detained when found. The remaining delegates may speak for the Icarian Temple. We now wish to call a fifteen minute recess. *He pounds a gavel, and conversation rises as the delegates begin to mill about. . o O ( ...Unless this is a set up to take the attention away from whoever REALLY did this... ) * Jalanda raises her head, observing Jiandir. * Erellisae hrmphs, not looking the slightest bit convinced. Jiandir speaks quietly with the rest of his delegation. Scapegoats? Or maybe not.. how can we tell.. ...I'm going to talk to my teacher, you guys. I'll be back when the break is over, okay? ...I cannot be sure. Be safe, Mitsuo. The walls have ears, I think. I know... ^^; I'll be careful. * Mitsuo waves, and walks off. * Jalanda looks over to Mitsuo, nodding once to him... * Feray watches Mitsuo go and stands.. "I wonder where Nathan is.." I do not like this.. * Erellisae watches the delegates, looking like a little bundle of pint-sized fury. ^^; * Feray pauses and eyes the remaining group. "Sorry about storming out earlier. Tension, you know...I dislike feeling powerless." We will be sure to inform you of what passes in your absence. * Jalanda folds her arms in her lap. "Noone is powerless, feray. Only holding back." * Feray shakes her head and smiles wryly. * Feray then sniffs the air, considering something, before heading off in the direction her nose takes her. * Jalanda runs her eyes across the delegates as they mull about. "This has become quite complicated." * Erellisae grins. "We should just go kick all the Icarian Priests til they tell us what's going on!" :D If such tactics were effective, live would be far simpler. As Feray exits the hall, Gyan catches her eye and smiles slightly. ... has anyone tried? :D I will see if I can speak to those charged with our poisoning, perhaps being betray will loosen their tongues * Feray pauses and nods to Gyan, her grin widening slightly. * Feray continues on her way.. ^^ * Nathan leans on a railing and watches Feray from the floor above, as she looks around for something * Feray frowns and looks about thoughtfully... * Mitsuo heads back to the group, plopping in a chair. * Erellisae blinks, then turns to Mitsuo. "Any luck?" :D * Mitsuo actually looks somewhat...shocked. ...He was actually.... Telling the truth O_o * Jalanda looks over to him. * Nathan whistles down at Feray * Erellisae frowns, her ears drooping. "Awww...! I so wanted to kick Jiandir's butt!" * Feray blinks and looks up, tensing slightly on reflex. "...." * Feray then relaxes and grins. "Hmph. Didn't your mom teach you any manners?" ^^; I think I was playing hookie that day :) I overheard them talking...Jiandir said that he really didn't want you kidnapped, Erel...said stuff about how he won't condone what they did for their 'goals', whatever that may be. I could do some more snooping, but unless I hear anything more, there's not much mroe I can do. :/ * Feray looks about for stairs or a ladder to get up beside Nathan.. ^^ She locates the stairs and dashes up them, skidding to a stop beside Nathan. But he was yelling at the same delegates who he accused. I mean...it's out in the open. * Jalanda shakes her head, albiet a little saddened. Well, with all the goings on, I realizes that while some were watching the town, and some were watching Sue, or Erel or Mitsuo, no one was watching out for the rest of you. ...And I don't think they knew I was there... So, I took the job :) * Feray grins a little at that. "Sweet of you to notice that as well." ... ;_; No fair! Who're we gonna bop for poisoning us? We can't do much while they're locked up! I think maybe the smugglers might be the ticket here... They would be the path to who requested it... and ultimately it's destination. Agreed. Now, I gather you think the smuggling is somehow related to the poisoning attempt...? You might be able to investigate the piracy and smuggling a bit and kill two birds with one stone by going west. The sun is beginning to set now, leaving the sky brilliantly colored, with stars beginning to show in the east. * Erellisae nods. :D * Feray starts off, breathing the air deeply.. ^^ * Mitsuo looks up to the sky. * Dylan follows, ambling pleasently, humming tunelessly * Nathan folows behind, humming a tune ^_^ * Rion dawdles along, not really looking forward to another meeting. * * Mikari follows, but is hanging behind, affording her attention to the dusk sky As they approach the Council Hall, they see Gyan off to one side in the little garden outside, sitting on a stone bench and enjoying a leisurely meal of pita bread and lamb shishkabobs that he picked up from the market. ^_^ * Erellisae peers at the evening activity of the town as they walk. ^_^ Er...maybe we should wait a little...until he's finished lunch.. ^^; * Dill puffs along to Nathan's humming Gyan sees them, then waves, raising an eyebrow questioningly as if to invite them over to join him. I'm sure he can eat and listen to our greetings at the same time.. Nah, food's always better with company ^_^ Or...he could invite us over. * Feray smiles brightly and heads for Gyan.. ^^ * Nathan saunters over * Dylan walks foward, and bows slightly * Mitsuo sticks behind Feray. ^^ *quietly* Hmm... Evenings like this weren't meant t'be spent in the city, y'know... Startin' to miss the Horizon..... * Jalanda takes up on the invitation, making her way slowly over to the dignatary. * Erellisae grins, and runs over, plonking herself on one end of the bench. "Hi!" :D Gyan finishes his last bite, then neatly stacks his napkin and plate to one side and rises to greet them. Howdy ^_^ * Dill flis up to Gyan's face, puffs merrily, and lands on his head [Gyan] Good evening, Miss Feray. Your companions, I presume? *He takes Feray's hand and kisses it gently, then waits patiently to be introduced.* Puff! Puff-a-puff! * Nathan represees a grin * Feray smiles coyly. "This is...Nathan, Erellisae, Dylan, Mitsuo, Jalanda, Rion and Mikari." Gyan blinks, looking up at Dill with an arched eyebrow (as best he can with the creature atop his head). [Gyan] Friend of yours? * Erellisae waves. :D PUFF! Greetings, sir. You could say that ^_^ And that thing would be Dill, Dylan's friend. ^^; * Mikari looks bored over the neatly-kept garden, then turns her attention towards Gyan. * Jalanda half-smiles at the kiss on the hand, and bows politely. "Greetings, sir Gyan." * Dylan smiles I hope Dill isn't causing a problem.. * Rion grins, and clicks his tongue. * [Gyan] A pleasure to meet you all. *Looking very dignified despite the animal atop his head, he shakes hands with the men and kisses the hands of the ladies.* A busy day? [Gyan] Not at all, Mr. Dylan. He is welcome to perch there if he so pleases. *Sitting, he motions for the others to do the same* * Nathan plops down on a bench * Mitsuo sits down. * Feray sits slowly, nodding slightly. ^^ [Gyan] Now...first of all, I would like to extend my heartfelt apologies, and those of the council, for the near-tragic events of yesterday morning. I am deeply thankful that none of you were harmed. *He looks genuinely worried and concerned* * Dylan waits for others to sit, then find a suitable place, and eases himself down Thank you for your concern, sir. Thankfully, everything turned out just fine. :) * Mikari looks a little awkward allowing her hand to be kissed, and kinda lets her arms go limp afterward in an exaggerated indifference that is likely inaffective with current company. * Jalanda finds a seat upon a bench in the garden, keeping her eyes upon him. We all pulled through it, that's the important thing Yes, we're all fine... ^^ It was a blessing from the Spirits. Gyan nods. [Gyan] Yes, of course. I hope it was not too presumptious of me to post a guard outside your inn...I feared a similar attack. I would like to leave the guard for the duration of your stay, but now that the perpetrators are in custody...at least, I hope that is all of them...if you wish, I will remove the guard. Well, thanks for th'thought, bud. I plan t'be a bit more careful in th'city from now on... [Gyan] I am certain you can take good care of yourselves, indeed. *Smiles* That gets my vote. I like to keep arms far 'way from me when I'm asleep, n'matter who's holdin' 'em. * Erellisae looks confused, and motions to her elbows. "But... what about your arms?" o_O The guard isn't really needed...we can take care of ourselves normally.. ^^ * Mitsuo nods. ^^ Gyan nods. [Gyan] Very well then....how much longer will you be staying? Do you plan to aid Sue for the remainder of the Summit? ^^;; Weapons, Erel... weapons. * Dylan shakes his head Ohhh. :D * Erellisae 's ears droop. "No... we're gonna be leaving soon..." I'm afraid there are pressing matters, and Sue is a highly capable individual. We'll be staying until tomorrow morning...but Sue will be remaining behind to attend the rest of the Summit. Like Dylan says, she can handle herself just fine. ^^ * Jalanda nods. "Yes, tomorrow morning we must press onward to the west." [Gyan] Yes, of course, she is. Well then...I shall not attempt to detain you. But if you have any need of aid in the future, please send a message to me at the University here in Chandrinos. Any information you could give that would help to convict your attackers would also be helpful... * Feray nods slightly in agreement... Investigations are being made. [Gyan] Well then...if you must leave tomorrow morning, I shall not detain you any longer. *stands to bid them farewell* * Dylan shrugs If you have more words to say, we have time to listen. * Dill hops off Gyan's head, and flaps onto Erel's head * Erellisae giggles, and arranges her hair to look like Dill is a big ribbon. ^_^ [Gyan] No, I only wished to make certain of your safety and well-being, and to offer my services in the future. ^_^ I have much to do this night, so I shall take my leave. *Gathering up his belongings* A good journey to all of you. *Prepares to leave* Thanks for your time, Sir Gyan. :) * Dylan bows slightly to Gyan * Mitsuo stands up as well. * Jalanda bows her head. "Have a good night, Gyan. I hope you stay safe as well." Yep. Thanks a bunch, Gyan. See ya'round. Gyan shakes the men's hands again, and kisses the ladies' hands, as before. With a nod and a wave, he strides off into the night, whistling softly to himself. He does, however, turn around and wink once in Feray's general direction. ^_~ * Erellisae wavies. ^_^ * Feray blinks and blushes faintly, waving slightly. ^^; * Mitsuo rolls his eyes. ^^; * Dylan rolls his eyes * Rion 's grin flashes bigger for a moment. * * Dylan mutters something about young love * Feray regains her composure and shakes her head, heading for Inn. "C'mon, lets go." ^^ * Mitsuo mutters something about slickness. * Erellisae giggles, and tugs Feray's sleeve, starting up another series of rapid fire questions to Feray about Gyan. :D ... O_o * Dylan lifts himself from the bench with a grunt * Feray stops and looks down at Erel.. ^^; * Dylan wanders off to the inn, beer, and bed * Mitsuo yawns, feeling tired suddenly, and heads off to the inn. ^^ * Jalanda ponders to herself about Gyan. * Rion heads off to catch up with Mitsuo. * * Jalanda returns to the inn eventually behind the others... Ah, heck, Erel. ^^; * Feray scoops Erel up and lugs her to the inn like a football. Gyack...! o_O; The next morning dawns a bit misty, but pleasantly warm with the promise of a bright sunny day later on. The party wakes early, packed and ready to go, but yawning. They troop down to the docks together, Rion leading the way... * Dylan yawns Another ship... yay... * Rion marches along contentedly. * * Mitsuo follows along, slinging his his backpack over his shoulder. * Mikari is finally rested up, and among the first to be ready, largely because her pack is so small ^^ * Erellisae pouts, her traditional cry of Good Morning having been earlier curtailed by a number of pillows from Feray's direction. She peers around the docks, following Rion. ^^ * Feray crosses her arms over her chest and grins. * Jalanda follows along in her usual slow silent way, but she appears to be less somber than yesterday. A tall, old-fashioned, but majestic-looking ship floats at the docks, waiting for them....a captain bustles about the ship's deck, shouting orders to his crew. Wow...much bigger than the last ship we were on... * Jalanda looks at the ship as they appraoch. "The vessel has seen many corners of the world. I wonder..." The captain greets them warmly as they board, taking the payment he is offered and sending sailors to show them to their cabins. The mist clears, a strong, refreshing wind picking up and ready to send them off with the tide. Last minute orders are shouted as the party comes out on deck to watch them set sail. * Feray breathes deeply.. "And so we hit the seas once more..." ^^ The sea-salt scent of the air assails their nostrils. ^_^ * Mitsuo smiles, "I don't mind... ^^" * Erellisae is at the stern of the boat, waving goodbye to the town. :D Yeah right.. ;) A week and you'll be wanting to walk through a forest. ^_- Well.. hopefully we'll get to sleep lots on this little ferry. Well, yeah, but for now....The sea is fine! ^^ The captain has estimated a travel time of about a week until they reach eastern Talachia... * Feray laughs and shakes her head. ;) Finally the tide is right. The lines are untied from the dock, the sails unfurled, and off they go! The ship cuts the water at an admirable speed, but the motion is smooth as they head out to sea, the weather fine and clear and seasickness at a minimum. =P * Jalanda sighs deeply, and observes the departure. "I have a feeling this will lead us to answers... we must only be patient." Eheh... I'm more'n a little glad that air travel helps ya get used t'seasickness... * Dylan is mostly below deck, not too uncomfortable on the ship. * Erellisae gets her hair in her face. ><; "Phbtt... I have to learn to tie this back..." ;_; This ship's a helluva lot better'n the last, though. * Mitsuo smiles and closes his eyes, breathing the sea air deep. * Feray shakes her head and heads to the front point of the ship, resting her hands on the railing and looking out towards the horizon. * Mikari looks at Erel's hair. * Jalanda walks closer to the cabins, leaning on the wall near them for some support, yet still maintaining a good view. * Rion hangs around on the crow's nest, feeling the wind, grinning his typical grin. * You could cut your hair, y'know, Erel. It'd keep it outta the way. ^_- They sail for several hours, till the land disappears from view, and all that can be seen is open sea on all sides. The sun slowly travels across the sky; luncheon is served out on deck, the warm breeze pleasant. As evening approaches, another mist begins to rise, this one somewhat thicker. Night begins to fall, the sky gray and dim as it does so, the air growing cooler... [Lookout] Ship ahoy! * Feray murmurs softly, her spot not having changed much. "So beautiful out...... .... ...ship ahoy?" ...Ship ahoy? Wha? * Erellisae blinks, grateful to be released from the monotomy and the small size of the ship. "Where?!" :D * Rion squints at the ship on the horizon.. * * Jalanda is resting in her cabin at the moment, half-awake... Suddenly, the ship rocks as grappling hooks are tossed out and catch the railings! O_o ...! Guys! Watch out! I think we found our pirates! H-hey! ;_; Hey--! O_O * Mitsuo is the railing of the ship, and tries not to fall overboard! O_o * Dylan grabs his mace and clambers up onto deck * Erellisae hides behind Feray, concentrating on a spell as she peeks out. * Feray tugs her spear out and attempts to pry a grappling hook loose! Whooping and hollering, a bunch of pirates appear, brandishing cutlasses and other various piratey weapons. ^_^ * Rion draws out his sword, and grabbing a mooring line, he swings down to the deck! * ...hell. Get ready for a fight! >> Pirate Blademasters 1 and 2 appear. Begin Battle! * Jalanda is thrown to the floor, wincing as the craft rocks under the attack. She staggers, and opens the door to the cabin... ....Dammit. Pirates. Great. * Mitsuo pulls out his rings, and glares at the pirates, "You want a piece of us, huh? Get bent!" Beat them up now, then ask our questions later! :D is this the answer...? * Feray looks amusedly at Mitsuo. * Mikari grins and unsheathes her bowie knife. * Mitsuo sweatdrops, "....I'm trying to look tough! ^^; Don't ruin the illusion here!" Sounds good t'me, Erel. ^_^ * Feray grins. "It's manly and alluring. Anyway, fighting now!" * Dylan looks around to assess the situation... Yes! Good plan! * Feray twirls her spear and glares at the pirates... *bellowing* LEAVE NOW! OR SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES! * Jalanda finds her way up to the deck proper, trying to hurry. * Feray winces at the bellow. >> Pirate 1's declaration. Prepares a special move, aimed at Feray! Gaaahh.. >> Pirate 2's declaration. Prepares a special move, aimed at Dylan! They're fast.. Be careful, Feray! He's looking at you. ^^; Aw, let him look. He can't handle me. ^_- * Dylan raises an eyebrow at Pirate 2 * Feray grins wickedly at Pirate 1. Yeah, but they wouldn't send 2 pirates out here for a whole gaggle of people. ^^; They're strong, I bet. You will break like waves upon the shore. >> Mitsuo's declaration! Hmmm. Lemme get a good look at the inside'a their throats, and then I'll tell ya how tough they are. ^_^ * Mitsuo closes his eyes and balls up a fist, summoning a silverish aura into his hand. >> Rion's declaration! * Jalanda finally comes onto the deck, spying the melee. O_o * Rion isn't grinning, now.. * * Feray takes the blade to her gut and slides to the ground, off the sword. * Jalanda calls down towards the stern. "Feray!" Let's go! * Mitsuo turns completely aroud, and tiny whipporwhils of air and motion dance around the group, lifting their spirits and hastening their footsteps! * Erellisae runs up to Feray, then narrows her eyes at the Pirate. "You... I HATE YOU! Don't hurt my friends!" ;_; ...Oh, crap. We need a new plan here, guys! Pure force isn't going to win this! I think it might be a good time t'leg it...! >> Pirate 2's action! "Ugh, we need a backup plan 'ere...!" >> Mikari's action! * Mikari jumps out from behind her cover and slashes twice, wildly, at the scuzzy pirate! >> Mikari attacks once...twice. Tower! * Jalanda fluidly hurls a card at Pirate 2 that affixes itself mysteriously to their person, embellished with the symbol of a great fortress struck by holy lightning. Roaring gale, tear them apart! * Mitsuo spins around quickly, and throws out his hand. The motion kicks up a green dust devil that chases down the enemy and knocks it for a loop! >> Mitsuo casts Howl. 11 damage to Pirate 1...13 damage to Pirate 2! >> Mikari's declaration! Damn... * Mitsuo's breathing is somewhat labored now, "...New...Plan..." * Jalanda looks to the ship the pirate rode in upon... * Mikari sheathes her knife and starts focussing her mental power towards a spell! Dust circles around her as she begins to cast Diggin'! * Rion glances at Mitsuo. * Yeah..? And what's that? >> Jalanda's declaration! ...Tuck them in for a bit... * Mitsuo coughs. * Jalanda lifts her pale right hand from the robes that hide it, as it begins to gather an azure magical aura... ...this violence shall end... >> Pirate 1's declaration! Heads for Mikari! :o >> Pirate 2's declaration. Growls at Jalanda and prepares to attack! >> Mikari's action ...Ugh! Buggoff!! * Mikari follows up by releasing the dusty spell, seeming out of place on such a boat. Earth encircles each of the other party members, strengthening their defense... >> Mikari casts Diggin'. Now at +3 DEF! >> Jalanda's action! * Jalanda looks at the pirate with a piercing stare, the ball of magic only growing larger. "If this is fate, I must face it...just as they do." Led by the songs of mist, may you slumber and desist... Snooze... * Jalanda spreads her arms outward, the sleeves of her robe swaying in the misty air. From each one issues forth a stream of countless bubbles that wash over the enemy ranks, lulling all those seeking violence into a deep, complacent sleep... >> Jalanda casts Snooze. Fails! ;_; * Mitsuo gawks at this, and his breathing worsens, "...Can't...give...in..." Buck up! It's not over yet! >> Pirate 1's action. Bladewhirl Slash on Mikari...72 damage! Mikari is down! * Rion seems as positive as ever. * >> Pirate 2's action. Bladwhirl Slash on Jalanda...71 damage. Jalanda is down! >> Rion's declaration. * Rion looks down at his sword.. * Rion...if...you got...a plan here.... * Rion looks up at the pirates.. * * Rion looks down at the sword again.. * * Jalanda holds her ground, raising the right arm of her robe to absorb the impact. There is a brief flash of black, and a crackle of energy, and then she is blown back in defeat. You can see her robe is torn... a sizzling mark upon her ghostly pale arm. * Rion glares at the pirates. * ..Don't make me use this. W...what? O_o U...use ...use it!! * Mikari lies silently on the wet deck, sight of her limp body obscured by the raid * Rion gets ready to use Blink! * * Dill lies to one side of Dylan, knocked out by a section of the flurry that struck Dylan. >> Pirate 2's declaration. Heads for Rion! >> Mitsuo's declaration! Chin up, Mitsuo! It's not over yet! * Mitsuo pulls out his rings, and glares at Pirate 1, "...Not...dying...today..." >> Pirate 1 declares...attacking Mitsuo! >> Rion's action! Gonna...protect my friends...Once I'm ...done coughing *cough* my lungs...up! * Rion suddenly vanishes! He reappears behind Pirate 2, slashing deeply into his back! * Ha! >> Rion executes Blink on Pirate 2. 7 damage! Do...you pirate....guys...put drugs...in your biscuits or...something? O_o >> Pirate 2's action. Bladewhirl Slash on Rion! 81 damage...Rion is down! >> Mitsuo's action! * Mitsuo notes that he's all alone on the deck, and only two words come into his mind. Ow.. this isn't over.. yet.. Well...*&%$ * Rion topples over. * Flash of motion, intercept! * Mitsuo kneels down with his rings held behind his back, then throws them forward. The two rings fly outward in a circle, and intercept each other right upon the target! The twin circles of destruction arc lazily back around for him to catch. >> Mitsuo executes Criss-Cross Slash on Pirate 1. 4 damage! Pirate 1's action is canceled! * Mitsuo grins, "...Okay...Yay...Good..." >> Pirate 1 is angry! Pirate 1's declaration...heads for Mitsuo, ready to attack! >> Mitsuo's declaration. * Mitsuo figures there's no possible way to stop him in time, so he defends! You...shouldn't...attack....a...guy with...*pant* glasses! >> Pirate 1 executes Bladewhirl Slash, laughing in Mitsuo's face! ;_; Mitsuo is defending...30 damage! >> Mitsuo's declaration. * Mitsuo urks, and stumbles, but manages to keep standing, "...That...the best...you can...." * Mitsuo balls up a fist, and it begins to glow a soft blue. Meanwhile, he looks for any way out of this situation, knowing he's only stalling hte inevitable. >> Pirate 2's declaration- attacking Mitsuo! ...Mitsuo... the answers... have found... us... * Jalanda struggles for a brief moment, letting out a final sigh of painful acceptance into the thick sea air... and she is still. Can't...accept this...as my answer.... >> Pirate 2's action! Executes Bladewhirl Slash on Mitsuo...80 damage! Mitsuo is down! ;_; >> Battle lost! * Mitsuo urks, as the blade slashes at him cruelly. He topples to the deck, his glasses sliding off his face and clattering somewhere unknown. ...Can't....accep... * Mitsuo goes still. The two pirates wipe the sweat from their foreheads, resheathing their blades, and start chatting unconcernedly with each other. Then another pirate slides down onto the deck, as pirates attack the ship's crew all around...the pirates seem to be winning. [Pirate 1] Cap'n! The pirate captain peers down with a sneer at the defeated heroes. He wears flashy clothes, his silvery hair shoulder-length, looking rather dashing except for a somewhat freckled face. =P [Pirate 2] Cap'n Gantz, victory is at hand! Gantz straightens, then gestures. [Gantz] Throw the passengers in the brig. And, eh, see that they're bandaged up. Can't have 'em dying when we can ransom 'em...find out who they are, too. Some of the gallant heroes begin to stir, waking despite their wounds... * Mitsuo doesn't wake up. He's breathing as if his chest is very constricted. * Dylan groans * Mikari wakes up slowly with muffled swearing. It.. appears.. that.. the.. waves.. broke.. the.. shore.. [Pirate 1] Up ya go, kids. *Hauling Mikari to her feet* * Erellisae stays prone, breathing faintly, blood still dripping slightly from her palms -_- Several pirates grunt as they tie Dylan securely and try to drag him to his feet. * Mikari wakes up slowly, but just in time to wrench herself away from the Pirate, disgusted at being helped up by him * Mitsuo remains out, pale. * Dylan winces in pain * Feray attempts to awaken but winces hard as she is tugged in a direction that makes her pass out again. Pirate 2 grins and pokes Mikari with his sword. [Pirate 2] Into the brig, missy! Scrabbles at the decking, just standing.. * Jalanda doesn't stir, but she is breathing regularly. The nasty gash in her alabaster arm visible through the shredded sleeve is quite ominous... Several other pirates grab Erellisae, Jalanda and Mitsuo and start to drag them to the brig. [Pirate 3] Moo. *Laughs at Dylan and pokes him with his sword, making him walk before him to the brig. Yeah, yeah, keep yer pointies to yerself... *mumbles as she reluctantly obeys* * Dylan staggers in the appropriate direction, snarling at anyone who stares * Mikari rubs her injured side... Soon the party is all in the brig, either dragged or prodded there. After a bit a few of the pirates go down to bind their wounds up, but they work in silence, leaving the party in the dark as soon as they are tended to.
