Session Start: Tue Jan 22 17:58:39 2002 *** Amy changes topic to 'Grandia: New Horizons | Chapter 14.1: Feray and Nathan | Location: Sarsen Inn, evening, June 25 | Lude Start' The evening sun has set and the storm has rolled in, its fury in earnest now. Lightning flashes and thunder rumbles, and the rains pound the little sailing town. Inside the inn, the windows rattle and an occasional leak drips from the ceiling, but overall it is warm and pleasant. The storm rages outside, while inside the members of the party remain in quiet confusion... * Feray climbs the stairs to the loft the rooms are on, a serious look on her face...she heads to her room, pausing with her hand on the door. She looks over at the guys' room curiously. ....hmm... * Feray gets a wry grin and heads for the guys' room, knocking on the door once. ^^ (from inside) Door's open * Feray opens the door, heading inside quickly.. "Hey, did you order a stripper? She said you have a choice of hot noodles or steamed vegetables that you can eat off her stomach." ^_- * Nathan is currently lying face up on the bed, his arm draped over his eyes. He looks grim, but he soon shows a grin that he couldn't quite repress Noodles are sticky, I'll take the vegetables ^_- * Feray wanders over by Nate's side, pausing a moment. "Ah, that must be why you're so strong and manly...you eat your veggies." ^_- * Nathan chuckles a little and sits up I may be part animal, but I know that veggies are good for me ^_- * Nathan goes quiet for a bit * Feray eyes Nate for a moment before hopping up onto his bed, bouncing on it slightly! ^^ The bed makes a sad squealing noise. ^^; "Cheer up or I will have to tickle you to death, you handsome devil!" ^^ * Nathan laughs again, "Curse you! You have found my weakness!" ;) Sorry about the gloomy gus routine. I guess that last encounter with Ri...with Cassidy could have gone better * Feray pauses and flops down onto her butt beside Nate, some of her cheeriness fading in the face of seriousness. "Well, maybe. But I would've been the same way if she had said she would bomb my home too. The merpeople were only attacking because we screwed up and let something precious to them get swiped." Well, it was a little more than that. Compared to mosr of the merfolk, I'm a pretty liberal guy So the whole stealing thing I can sort of let slide Its just...he...no, she, screwed up everything I was trying to do Which would be what, exactly? * Nathan shifts, a little uncomfortably, "Well, originally, I was sent up here to spy on the surface dwellers. Make sure they weren't about to pull another Gaia routine out of their asses again." * Feray raises an eyebrow in amusement. "Fair enough of a worry, I guess, considering how badly we messed up before." After a while, I kinda grew to like you guys. You weren't all that bad once I got to know you ...aw, shucks. ;) Stoppit, I'm gonna blush! * Nathan chuckles I started reporting that back home, trying to get them to lighten up on you all I even got them to agree to take us in that one time when we went after Mistuo Everything seemed to be working, and I thought maybe I could really make it work out * Feray draws her knees up to her chest and smiles wryly. "Ah...I see...and then Rion went and screwed that up.." And then...well, I don't need to tell you what happened -_- Yeah... * Feray nods slightly. "But...I mean, really, how long could that have lasted, Nate?" I don't know. It wasn't ever given a chance Everything deserves a chance...but the realist in me knows that natural 'groundwalker' ability to create trouble would've landed us back in the hotseat eventually.. ^^; * Nathan puts his chin in his hands, "I had to try at least..." * Feray smiles a little bit, lacking some of her usual cockiness. "I can't blame you for that. I don't think any of us would....I'm sorry Rion went and flubbed it up...it would've been nice, however short or long, to have some sort of temporary peace..." You know what the worst part is? The merfolk will just lash out at any ship or coastal city they can het their hands on, and that probably won't mean squat to whoever Cassidy is working for They'll be lashing out at the wrong people * Nathan hang his head, "And they won't listen to me if I tell them that." * Feray frowns a little and reaches out to pat Nate's leg. "It's okay, Nate. There will be some way we can at least make it so they'll stop going nuts on innocent people.....I mean, there's always a way." I know. I'm just afriad of the damage and pain that will be inflicted in the meantime...on both sides Yeah....it could've been avoided...but it's too late to cry over spilled milk... all we can do is work towards a solution that'll clear this up as soon as possible...not that I'm painting the loss of lives as trivial... * Nathan runs his hands over his face, "I know. I just hate the fact that Cassidy seems to have taken everyone's choice in the matter away, and can't even find the dsecency to explain how her actions can justify all this horror her actions are going to cause." We couldn't have taken the orb back.....she would've done the same disappearing trick. We'd be chasing her around like fools for the longest time. If this person she'd working for can put her deeply in our group that she can hide who she is, can get in the right place at the right time... I mean, that person probably has some sort of protection for Cassidy too. And all while we'd be chasing her around and fighting for the orb, people would still be dying. I know. Beleive me, I've considered that a lot. But I still can't accept the idea that the ends will justify the means here I know...and none of can ask you to accept it...some of us are troubled by this too, you know...but it's not as if there's any other avenues here than to go along and hope to the spirits that this ends quickly enough. * Nathan nods * Feray smiles wryly. "And if you're going to be grumpy the entire time, I will tickle you until my own fingers fall off. So I don't want you to mope 24-7, you hear me? Occasional on the side moping, sure, but no gloomy angst for you!" * Nathan grins again, "Heh, deal" ^_^ Thanks for the pep-talk. I think I needed that :) * Feray winks and slides off the bed, standing and brushing herself off. "You've always got an elongated ear to bend if you need to rant, Nate. It's the least I could do." ^_- * Nathan stands up, looking much happier, "What do you say we go against the grain and have some fun? I think I could use a distraction right now." Oh? What do you want to do? Tip some cows? Er, preferably not Dylan? ^_- Considering the raging storm, an inside activity would be best. What say we go see if there are any card games going on? Card games? Oh ho ho! It just so happens that I'm as good at cards as I am at drinking. ^_- I hope you have a hefty purse. Ha! I'm not such a bad card shark meself, so be ready for a fight ^_- * Feray grins and playfully bats Nate on the shoulder, heading for the door and opening it.
