The sound of people arriving to do business can be heard in the marketplace below... * Nathan sits in the window, watching the world do its thing Mrhpf! * Erellisae is already up and sitting at the breakfast table, staring off into space. Her usual morning cry has once again been left off. * Mitsuo is still asleep, and curls up in the covers. Anyone who has awakened and headed to the private dining room will see some covered dishes, steaming enticely with the smell of a Talachian breakfast. * Feray stretches in her bed and sits up, rubbing her face tiredly. "Hmmnn...morning already...ughn.." * Nathan decides to quit moping and heads downstairs for breakfast * Dylan sits up, yawning loudly, and gropes around for clothes Lily yawns, wandering into the dining room. [Lily] Morning, Erel... * Feray shakes her head and slides out of bed, cleaning herself up a little before trotting out for the dining room... * Erellisae doesn't reply, still staring into space. ^^; Lily shakes Erel's shoulder lightly. [Lily] Hey, you okay? * Nathan slides down the banister into the dining area Morning folks Lily smiles cheerfully. [Lily] Good morning, Nathan. Sleep well? * Erellisae blinkblinks, and looks up. "Oh! Uh, sorry. Just thinking." ^^; * Jalanda walks towards the dining room in her silent fashion, passing by a window, which she looks out of and pauses a long moment. * Feray wanders down behind Nate, raising an eyebrow as he slides down the bannister. She wanders to a chair quietly and flops down, leaning back to scratch her abs. Lily lifts the lid of a dish, sticks a fingertip in the contents, and licks it experimentally. [Lily] Hmmm...not as good as I make. I slept okay. And now I eat, for that is the nature of breakfast ^_^ * Dylan walks downstairs, stretching cricks out his back [Lily] It is indeed. Though Talachian breakfasts can be decidedly odd. :P * Mitsuo merfs a bit and, in true Mitsuo fashion...falls out of bed with a thump! Gzzzhhzt OW! * Nathan shrugs, "Food is food." ^_^ She lifts the cover off another bowl and finds it piled high with steaming rice. Scooping herself a bowl, she drenches it in butter and sugar. * Erellisae takes a little food, her mind not on the day, it seems. Food to refill our bodies as the world refills our mind Lily blinks at the ceiling, hearing the thump. * Dylan tries the rice plain first.. skeptical of the butter/sugar combo * Feray smiles wryly to herself and glances up at the ceiling ^^; Besides, I'm the one used to eating a freshly caught raw fish, bones and all. Remember? ^_- * Erellisae sweatdrops. "Sounds like Mitsuo's... uh... down." ^^; Lily chuckles and shakes her head. [Lily] You're crazy. * Nathan chuckles and dig into what's available ^_^ * Mitsuo grahs, rubs his head, and goes about getting dressed. * Jalanda blinks, taken out of her daze by the thump upstairs. [Lily] So....do we have a plan yet? *Careful not to talk with her mouth full, she does, however, gesture with her spoon as she speaks.* I suggest we poke around town first and see what the locals know * Dylan flicks a grain of rice off his nose where Lily's spoon flung it. * Erellisae munches fitfully, still staring into space. ...such an unfortunate omen to start this day upon. [Lily] Omen, Jalanda...? What...Mitsuo falling out of bed? ^^; Oh, Ms. Jalanda? Mornin' * Mitsuo thumps down the stairs, looking tired. * Erellisae waves to Mitsuo. "Fall out of bed?" ^^; * Mitsuo nods, blushing a little. Hi Mits * Jalanda looks to Feray. "Yes, it is not the proper way to begin a journey... he should be a bit more careful." * Jalanda nods to Mitsuo, and has a seat. ^^ * Mitsuo blushes furhter and sits down quietly. ^^; Among the foods on the table are some interesting dishes made from noodles and vegetables, some meat with an interesting sauce, and some odd, flat pastries. * Feray reaches out to snag a small spoon full of rice and chews it thoughtfully... Eat up folks, this is as breakfast as its gonna get ^_- * Feray looks wryly at Nate. "Mmm. Paste-y goodness." ;) * Erellisae watches everyone quietly, eating slowly. * Nathan flicks a grain of rice at Feray ^_- * Mitsuo takes some of the rice and drizzles a bit of the sauce on it. He seems rather quiet this morning. * Dylan eats happily * Dylan is oblivous to everyone else's angsting. * Feray blinks and crosses her eyes as it lands on her nose and stays there. Lily looks around, watching the group oddly. * Jalanda doesn't seem to be all that interested in stuffing her face, but she does sample the local fare all the same. She looks up from her plate every so often at Erellisae. Careful there, sailor, I know where you sleep and I carry Mr & Mrs. Pointy ;) * Feray reaches up to wipe the fleck of rice off her nose and grins. * Mitsuo sniggers a bit at the Mr. and Mrs. Pointy comment. ^^; * Nathan chuckles ^_^ * Dylan rolls his eyes. Why so glum folks? Did somebody die while I was asleep? * Erellisae notes Jalanda's gaze, and nods a little, becoming a little more animated. She eyes Mitsuo, then prods him lightly with a fork. :D That's a good question. We're not our usual perky selves. ^_- * Mitsuo blinks, and looks to Erel, "Hmm? ^^" * Dill flaps over to Jalanda, and wriggles into her hood. There is much uncertainty in the air this morn... * Erellisae prods a finger at Mitsuo's side. "You're moping. What's wrong?" ^^ * Jalanda looks as the puffy nests in her hood. "...as well as furry creatures." Then let's get rid of some of it and make a executive decision on what to do next. I put in my two cents already, so what say the rest of you? ^_^ I don't see why, myself. We ask around, we follow up leads, we find out stuff. Same old drill as usual. Lily chuckles at Dill and Jalanda. Nothing...just that I'm tired of falling out of bed so often. ^^; Makes my sides hurt. I say we all get naked and dance about. No, seriously. I mean it! .... Talking to locals is good. * Feray gives a thumbs up. * Nathan bursts out laughing! * Mitsuo blinks, and busts out laughing as well. ^^; * Erellisae hmms, then grins. "Just go to bed before everyone else, and steal all their pillows! Make a lil' fort!" :D * Feray grins, pleased that she managed to get some laughter out of the gloomy bunch, and grabs another spoon full of rice. * Nathan finishes his meal, and kicks back in his chair ^_^ Lily tries to bite back a laugh at Erel's comment. [Lily] That sounds like something Justin used to do. * Mitsuo grins, "But what if everyone needs the pillows?" * Nathan leers at Mitsuo, "We'll wrestle ya for 'em." ^_- O_o * Erellisae looks shocked. "You defend your fort to the death, of course!... or the tickle. Whichever comes first." * Feray stares at Nate and Mitsuo before bursting out into laughter. * Dylan almost chokes on his rice, laughing Well... ^^; Hmm...Tickle torture... * Cassidy sleeps.. seems she's not had the oppertunity to do that much as of late.. * * Nathan makes tickle-y fingers at Mitsuo. "Oooooooooh!" * Feray covers her face with a hand, laughing ^^; ^_- Hey, don't think that I'd lose or anything! * Nathan laughs at the whole situation ^_^ * Erellisae fingers the chain on her neck in thought. "So... where first?" ^^; Hmm... * Feray runs a hand through her bangs and gets a slightly more composed look, smiling. ^^ The city center would be the first place I'd go City center...you mean the shops and stuff? Sounds like a plan ^_- Or we could split up and scour the city, and return here at a given time * Mitsuo hmms. We can't exactly ask everyone on the streets if they've seen a couple legendary heroes, though... :/ Why not? Lily is relatively silent, listening to the others plan. They might get suspicious... This is true. We must be cautious, especially here. There are many boundaries that enclose us. * Nathan shrugs Then we can simply ask around for any big news ... and maybe landmarks, too. Maybe they just moved onto the next ruins... Right...we can follow their trail... * Feray raises an eyebrow, chewing on the end of her spoon. Works for me. Shall we off? Indeed. [Lily] In my experience, people tend to remember for quite a while that Justin passed through an area. :P He leaves a trail, so to speak. Do we split up, though? This town's kinda big. * Nathan kicks off the table, spins around in his chair and hops out of it in one fluid motion Splitting up may be best. We can cover more ground... * Jalanda lowers her head. "There is still awhile before I can consult the stars again, but I am certain if Justin is not within our grasp, Feena most certainly is." And such a large group as ours may attract attention Lily straightens her clothes, slinging her bag over her shoulder, and stands, waiting for the others to be ready to go. If we split up, we should arange to meet back here at a given time * Feray stands and stretches a little, her back popping. Maybe early afternoon? There may be people in the restaurants and cafes... Works for me .... ....I could have some fun with this assignment. Let's go ^_- 3pm ish? * Erellisae hops up, nodding. "And maybe Sue'll have sent us a reply. We'll beat you guys at getting information! Uh... though, we should wake Cassidy up." Feray and Mitsuo then. Anyone going with them? We can split the city into quadrants and each take a piece Quadrants? You have been slumbering for quite awhile this morning. * Nathan looks at Feray, "How does the south side of town sound?" * Mitsuo turns to the others, "i think it'd probably be best if we got a head start. So...We'll all meet up at three?" South side, huh? Sure thing. ^^ * Jalanda tilts her head towards the door. "The others were already getting ready to scour the city for clues, and I would hate for you to miss such an opportunity." 3 o'clock. Good luck you two. * Mitsuo grins, "Let's go, Erel! :)" Yeah...don't do anything I wouldn't do. ;) * Cassidy yawns a bit. * I guess I'm awake now. What'd I miss? We shall be splitting up, they are deciding groups now." Ah, Ms. Mikari, we are splitting up into pairs to scour the city for clues and such. Oh, sorry Mikari. Just heading out... ^^ * Mitsuo then leaves. ^^ Eh, just thought I'd take 'nother look 'round the town... Cassidy may not be able to join us at first, for she must concern herself with appearances... a uniform of her nature would draw unwanted attention. * Cassidy comes down the stairs, pulling on her uniform's jacket as she descends, smoothing it out by the time she reaches the bottom step. * Well, if one of us escorts her, afterwards perhaps she would aid in the search? The early morning crowds are rather large and loud, though not particularly rowdy, as Erellisae and Mitsuo head down the street.... * Mitsuo looks around, "Where should we go first? A cafe? There should be a lot of people at a cafe..." * Erellisae nods. "Okay. I have no idea where to start, so... ^^; This place is huge..." No kidding...let's see... * Mitsuo scans around the area for the place with the most people. A cafe with outdoor seating seems pretty crowded...with a low-priced menu. It's called the Ginkgo Place... * Mitsuo points to the cafe, "Let's try there. :)" * Erellisae nods, looking up at the sign. "The... Ginkgo? Sounds like a lizard." Yeah, it does, doesn't it? * Mitsuo heads inside. ^^; A woman with her black hair in a ponytail and a lacy apron on walks up. [Waitress] Table for two? I...sure? ^^; * Erellisae looks to Mitsuo, and nods. "Sure." :D The waitress seats them at a table next to a window, then brings them menus. The place is very crowded and very loud...mostly from the sheer number of patrons rather than their rowdiness, however. Everything is neat and orderly in the cafe. * Mitsuo looks around to some of the patrons, seeing who to probe for information first. ;) * Erellisae runs her eye down the menu, then looks around. "Aw... I think I prefer the sorta restaurants where there's everything on the walls. They have more character." ^^ Nearby is a table of thirteen-year-old blonds, giggling insanely. Their hair color doesn't look natural. Further on is a couple, probably in their thirties, looking googly-eyed at each other. Another table seats some gray-haired ladies gossiping up a storm...then there is a table with some severe-looking men, dressed in loose trousers with scabbards at their belts. Hmm...who do you think we should talk to first, Erel? * Erellisae looks around, and hmms... "Well... the guys with swords might know where any ruins or stuff might be... but I guess we try anyone." ^^; Let's ask the guys with ah...big swords first. * Erellisae nods, then stands up. "Back in a mo." :D Uh...don't you want me to accompany you? The men with swords are eating manly-looking sandwiches piled high with meat...except for one, who is enjoying some pastries shaped like flowers with pink frosting. The others are trying to ignore him. ^^;; * Erellisae grins. "Aww.. okay. :D Thanks." * Mitsuo grins, and stands up, following Erel. One of the men looks up as they approach and surveys them with distaste. [Man] Yes? * Mitsuo looks to Erel, wondering who will do the talking. * Erellisae puts on her most charming smile. "Hi! :D We're looking for any interesting places round here, ruins or old castles or caves or stuff like that?" :D [Man1] I'm no tour guide. Something about this seems fishy to me..." * Erellisae thinks, then nods, leaning over and whispering to Mitsuo. "Look... we'll get the others to be nearby if something goes wrong. They're thieves, right? Looking for magicusers? Maybe we'll get word of Feena..." * Erellisae smiles. "Don't worry, okay? We'll have everyone nearby. Hiding. ^^; An older lady on a corner is peering nearsightedly at a map in her hands...a couple of schoolgirls are passing on the street. A man and a woman are haggling over fish prices. Well, since I'm currently not hiding, lets find someone more in the open ^_^ * Feray jabs a thumb at the man and woman haggling over fish prices. "Wanna try the middle ground?" Why not? ^_^ Let us saunter :D * Nathan does so ^_^ * Feray adjusts her hair slightly and adopts a lazy grin as she heads to the stall. ^^ The two look up from their haggling and give Feray and Nathan a questioning look. ¬_¬ * Nathan approaches the haggling pair, "Howdy. Got a sec?" ^_^ * Feray smiles wider. ^^ "We'd like to ask you a few questions." [Man] *Suspicious* Like what...? * Feray glances at Nate, wondering if he'll field that. We're professional groupies, and we're looking for someone famous to glom onto ^_^ Seen any? :D * Feray wideyes for a second and bites into her bottom lip to stop the bark of laughter that threatens to explode from her mouth. ^^; [Man] Umm, no. Are you tryin' to waste my time? Buy something or leave. [Woman] Ummm...like, famous how? ^^;; Like a famous explorer or treasure hunter or prince...! It doesn't matter, as long as he's a dreamboat...preferably with red hair! I'm a sucker for red hair! * Feray adopts a starry-eyed expression. You know, local celebreties and the like. We'll settle for travelling ones, but we get paid more for supporting the local economy rather than decentralized ones ^_^ Oh yeah! Though, just between you and me, I'm not really in it for the pay, you know? ^_- I am. I'm a businessman at heart ^_^ The man looks very disgusted. The woman looks confused, as if wondering if they're really serious, but she hesitantly volunteers a guess... [Woman] Sounds almost as if you're talking about Justin the Adventurer. Is he famous? He'll do if he is. Where's 'e at? Ooohh... Justin the Adventurer? Yeah, where is he? ^^ [Woman] Ahhhh....no idea. I'm just a flower seller. ^^; But if memory serves, I think he was in town a few weeks, maybe a month or two, ago... He's gone? Dang! He'd be worth a few bucks. Where'd he go to? Maybe we can catch 'im * Feray looks hopeful. ^^ [Woman] Um...they were heading west, I think. Some people said they were investigating the museum here, but others said they were really on their way west. I'm not sure...I don't listen to the street gossip much. ^^;; The museum? I wonder if someone there needs a groupie? Hm...we should see! ^^ This Justin sounds like a dreaaaaaamboat! :D [Man] Not likely. No one visits the museum anymore. *Snorts derisively* Drat. Oh well, I guess we'll just have to chase after this Jerbin guy [Man] *Waves a hand dismissively* Great. Go to it and let me get back to business. *Picks up a cheap knicknack* Dice with real rhinestones? Furry keychain? * Nathan grabs Feray's arm, "Let's go! I can smell a paycheck heading into the distance as we speak!" Woo! Let's roll :D * Nathan charges around a corner out of sight of the man and women that they just accosted * Feray is dragged, the muscles under Nate's hand twitching hard. ^^ * Feray clears her throat. "Hey! Watch it! Don't bruise the fruit!" Heh, sorry, just wanted to make it look convincing ^_- The man and woman stare after them, looking very disturbed, but relieved that the strange foreigners are gone. I think we handled that well ^^ * Feray tugs her arm from Nate's grip and rubs it, the muscles still twitching hard. "Oh yeah.. I play the part of a ditz well." ^_- What say we cruise the town until meeting time? Sure, why not. ^_- Job well done deserves some fun. I'll buy you lunch as payment for the manhandling ;) Ooh, really? ;) Because all the paste-y rice filled me up so bad during breakfast. ;) Let's go, handsome, I hear the call of lots of meat. * Feray grins and begins to follow the smell of her nose, her tummy rumbling. :o Lead on my carnivorous compatriot ^_^ Mikari and Jalanda head down the street, sidestepping vehicles, horses, and pedestrians as they walk. * Jalanda strolls down the packed streets with Mikari, being very careful to not get in anyone's way, as politeness seems to be a rule of thumb here. * Mikari follows Jalanda, wondering why she's walking around all these people instead of the direct route: through them Most of the pedestrians ignore Mikari, but some curse colorfully at her for getting in their way. ^_^ It is amazing how many souls move upon these streets, all intent upon a different goal.... how many shall find fufillment is interesting to ponder. * Mikari scowls at someone who gets in her way. "I don't think about it too much." * Jalanda tries to keep alert and do her best to separate herself from the main thoroughfare at the first opportunity that offers itself Looming nearby they can see the gaudy, magnificent facade of an Icarian Temple... * Mikari looks up and whistles. "Jal, catch that." * Jalanda leads Mikari into the alcove near the entrance, catching her breath faintly. "What an interesting twist of fate, seeing this in such a place." Heh. Yeah, looks like this temple isn't one I'll be paid t'look int'a anytime soon. * Jalanda gets a better look at the temple, though she frowns at the style somewhat at the corner of her mouth. "If Feena or Justin have passed through here, I'm sure they would have courted their attention in some fashion... perhaps this was not an accident stumbling upon it." * Jalanda pushes open the door to the temple slowly, peering inside... Hmmm. Yeah, good point. Inside, quiet but heavy-sounding music is playing. The interior is huge, with vaulted ceilings, lots of sculpted stone, and a huge statue of an Icarian with painted wings. It only looks vaguely human, though very impressive. Priests in white, gold, and red walk around quietly... * Jalanda puts aside her feelings for now and enters the holy place, trying to appreciate the meanings behind the overly-impressive facades with a respectful nod. She approaches one of the nearby priests after a moment.. [Priest] *Bowing solemnly* May I help you? * Mikari nods as well in a pointedly mild expression of being impressed * Mikari frowns slightly at the holy man, but this time manages to spare him from the anger she has held against different people of the same vocation before. Yeah, we're lookin' for a red-haired shrimp and a girl wearin' a napkin. Oh, and they're kinda legendary, from what I've been told. Seen 'em? * Jalanda returns the bow. "Yes... perhaps you can. I and my companion have come far to pay homage here, upon hearing rumors that the great Feena and Justin had graced this place with their presence..." The priest smiles and nods. [Priest] Why, yes, one of the Icarians did pay a visit to us recently, some weeks back. Truly, we are blessed. Feel free to stay as long as you like and bask in the aura of Feena's holiness. If you have any questions, just ask. And if you feel so inclined, you may donate in the box near the door. * Mikari eyes widen subtly and she nods to Jalanda. "Heeyyy, we might be on the right track after all." I see, father. It is a shame were were so detained as to miss such a blessed event. Would you know of where her holiness has traveled hence? Yeah, where was the holy chick off to? [Priest] She has gone on a journey to the west, to the frontiers of our land, where few know her true greatness. If you would follow her on your pilgrimage, you might do best to follow the main highway toward Yindal and Jevrish. Ha, 'lright then. * Jalanda eyes Mikari faintly, then bows her head. "Thank you father, your words are truly blessed by the Spirits." The priest bows once more to them. [Priest] May your journey be safe and the road clear ahead of you. *With that, he continues about his priestly business* * Mikari looks back at Jalanda, smirks, then turns to the priest and bows in mock respect. "I guess its off a'pilgr'maging for us. We'll be sure to through some flowers in'er path for ya." * Jalanda gravitates towards the rear of the temple, and sits down in a pew for a moment. * Mikari looks at her inquisitively, then follows her to the pew. "...What are you doin'?" The priest smiles benignly at Mikari, apparently oblivious to any sarcasm that was intended. Just reflecting a moment... * Mikari doesn't notice the smile as she follows Jalanda, but its just as well * Jalanda looks up from her hooded face. "Ever westward the signs lead us..." Er... 6*looks rather awkward* ...'at's right. 6*Mikari pauses a moment in the spacious silence of the temple, then begins to lean against the wall* There is a loud click, and Mikari tumbles backward as a section of wall slides open! ...nnNGWAAH!!... * Mikari falls backwards VERY unceremoniously, as an explorer who is not used to being caught off guard does when she is caught off guard. o_o * Jalanda looks behind her and notices the passageway swallow Mikari up. By the spirits, this was not foreseen. The door remains open for a few moments, but they hear the unhurried steps of the priest coming to investigate the noise... * Jalanda glances about to make sure this did not cause attention... ^^ * Mikari sits on the stone floor beyond, rubbing her boney bum from the hard landing. >_< * Jalanda quickly exits the pew and goes toward the wall, trying to evade the priest's notice. She whispers "Mikari.. are you unhurt?" Erf. Yeah, nothin' more'n a bruise... I'll live. What the 'ell is this?... * Jalanda slides herself through the opening carefully, and sees about closing it behind her at least a bit if possible. * Mikari gets up and starts to quicly look around as well, in order to either catch a brief opportunity or avoid any impending danger I do not know... The door will not close on its own; presumably there is another switch, or it's on a timer. The tunnel beyond is completely black, though, with no way to see where it goes or whether any obstacles lie within. * Jalanda hears the footsteps drawing closer. "It is a matter of time before they arrive... we should slip into the shadow beyond for now..." ....Well, Jal, we've gotta choice. Dive in headfirst now, or.... *grin* well, come back later. * Jalanda peers outside to see how far the steps sound. "If the path is yet clear then..." The priest sounds just about ready to round the corner... * Mikari hears the footsteps and hurriedly begins to push Jalanda back out. "Eh, come t'think of it I'd rather not have them followin' us. Let's get back out quick." * Jalanda does not protest, and files out very calmly and nonchalantly. She glances once behind her at the wall section that Mikari leaned on, perhaps the switch there also shall close it up again. * Jalanda takes her place in the pew as if nothing had happened. * Mikari turns back to make sure the door shuts, not waiting to see if it'll trigger before readying her hand to push and try to shut it. A few seconds later, the door slides closed...shutting just as the priest arrives. [Priest] I heard some noise. Is anything amiss? * Jalanda turns her head. "Ah, my apologies, my companion was reaching for her money pouch and seemed to have dropped it on the way to the donation box." She looks behind her. "Did you find it alright, sister?" The priest smiles. [Priest] Ah, I see. Well then, I shall leave you in peace! *Walks away* * Mikari is stopped short of producing her own excuse about practicing Tai Kwan Leap and knocking over a pew, but shuts her mouth quickly and smiles innocently at the priests. "Yep, found it." ^_^ * Jalanda nods as the priest leaves the area, holding a breath in for a moment and exhaling. She arises from her place and join Mikari, eager to make for the exit. * Mikari rather enjoys the excitement, and hasn't been holding her breath as such. Haha. Let's get worda this back to the inn. I wanna be back in 'at room by midnight t'night. * Jalanda nods. "I suppose finding an unexpected truth, justifies bending it."
