Session Start: Fri Apr 05 19:09:20 2002 *** Amy changes topic to 'Grandia: New Horizons | Chapter 24.0: The Tenkali | Location: Nendasa, The Dusty Salamander Inn, midmorning, July 2 | Session Start' ==Session Start== The group gets a late start the next morning, nursing their bruises from the tavern brawl the afternoon before. :P Lily rises early and spends the morning taking a walk around town, then stops to talk with their guide... * Erellisae has been quiet, taking care to stay out of the way of sight and hopefully mind of the townspeople. * Nathan sleeps in quite a bit later than usual * Dylan sits downstairs, working ensuring his stomach is ready for the travels ahead * Mitsuo is awake, sitting near a window reading, but looks as if he could have used a bit more sleep. ^^; * Feray staggers downstairs and flops into a chair, putting her boots on the table. * Jalanda remains very contemplative, doing her best to help at the inn to make up for the recent unfortunate events. * Mitsuo looks up, "Morning, Feray. You feeling any better?" The innkeeper eyes Jalanda as she carries some clean sheets upstairs. [Innkeeper] Miss, why don't you stop and have some breakfast soon? * Feray gives a sly grin to Mitsuo and waggles her arms, still wearing Mitsuo's overcoat. It's a little short on her arms but looks kinda cool. "Yep. Must've been the clothes." * Erellisae stares out the window, deep in thought. * Mitsuo grins a bit. ^^ I'm glad you're feeling better, Feray. ^^ Thank you for your concern, I will be there soon enough... * Feray winks and then turns her gaze to Erel. ...hey! Little bit! What's wrong? Why the droopy lips? * Erellisae turns, smiling a little wanly. "Didn't make much of an impression on this town, huh..?" ^^; * Jalanda goes up to finish her voluntary chore, returning to the table after a while has passed... Aw, they just don't appreciate your beauty and charisma ^_- They do NOW, of course. After that cool headbutt you used to bowl over that one guy! * Mitsuo chuckles a little. I'd want you at my side if we got into another brawl, Erel. You fight better than I do. ^_- * Erellisae nods. "I'm little. People keep missing me." :D * Feray's ears twitch and she coughs into her hand a little, shaking her head as she clears her throat. So what's the plan today, again? Lily pokes her head into the room, Jinaro peering over her shoulder. [Lily] Morning everyone...going to be ready to go soon? Er, oh right! Brawl make Feray head hurt. * Feray taps her finger against her forehead. * Jalanda takes a seat, vaguely rubbing her side for a moment. * Mitsuo sighs a little, and stands up, putting his book back in his backpack, "...Ready." Sure, Lily, someone should go wake Nate. ^^; * Erellisae blinks. "As long as we don't run into any more mobs... /or/ churchgoers..." ^^; * Feray glances up the stairs and grins. * Dylan mumbles something around the fork in his mouth Hey, Erel, wanna help me wake up Nate? Unfortunately the churchgoers are a possibility. As well as the natives to this region. * Erellisae nods. "Okay. Long as Mikari doesn't climb up the house again." ^^ [Lily] I'll do it. :D *Heads upstairs to harrass Nathan* ...or Lily could have all the fun. ;) * Jalanda looks for something to eat or drink, realizing she should have a bite or two at this chance. * Feray grumbles goodnaturedly and stands, readying her equipment under Mitsuo's coat. Lily knocks on the door to Nathan's room... * Erellisae looks cute. "I reckon I could shout loud enough from here." ^_^ * Dylan stands up from his breakfast and looks around.. (no response to the knocks, save for some quiet snoring) * Erellisae blinks, then droops. "But, uh, screaming out loud in a village that doesn't like me much..." Hmm.. where is Ms. Cassidy? * Feray grins and heads over to Erel, looping an arm around her shoulders. "Pah....we could take 'em, huh partner?" * Feray blinks and looks to Dylan. "Good question." Hearning no response, Lily suddenly slams the door open. [Lily] ON YOUR FEET, SOLDIER! * Erellisae sweatdrops. "Well... we did get beat u--..." o_O * Feray arches an eyebrow. That would be Nate's wakeup call. ;) * Mitsuo bursts out laughing! ^^; * Jalanda has another cup of the tea, but after she takes several sips, she sets it down, and gazes into it intently. I think it makes me look sexy and mysterious. ^_- * Nathan sits up in bed, "Up yours sir!" :D * Mitsuo looks up to Feray, "Sure thing :)" * Nathan hops out of bed and prepares for the day Lily raises an eyebrow at Nathan and chuckles, then heads back downstairs. * Erellisae blinks, and sweatdrops, looking up the stairs. "Um... eep?" ^^;; * Dylan looks at Jalanda Hmm? Is the tea okay? Lily re-enters the common room. [Lily] He's up. * Feray shakes her head and stretches. "I'd say, Lily!" So is half the continent, probably. ;) * Erellisae looks vaguely impressed. "I gotta practice more..." ^^; * Jalanda looks up. "Yes, the tea is fine... but I'm afraid other things may not be so." * Nathan makes some quick fixes to his personage, packs his things, and makes for the stairs * Mitsuo looks to Jalanda, "Is...something wrong?" * Feray hmms and slings her sword over the outside of the coat, making it easier to draw. She blinks and turns to eye Jal. Lily chuckles and looks pleased with herself. * Nathan slides down the banister, heads for the food, grabs whatever he can carry, and salutes the group in general Morning troops ^_- * Mitsuo salutes back, "Good morning!" Heya. ^_- * Cassidy strolls into the room.. * Finally all up? Yep. Hey, Cass. ^^ Looks like it, Ms. Cassidy * Jalanda considers something, not answering immediately... * Erellisae nods. "We'd best get out of here soon." ^^; Jalanda? * Nathan snacks on breakfast stuff, swallowing a yawn Lily nods. [Lily] Everyone about ready to go...? Yeah, I'm ready. Yes, ma'am. Apparently ^_- I'd say so. Got my walkin' boots on....which're the same as the sitting boots and sometimes reading boots... Lily nods. [Lily] Right. Let's go! *Heads for the door, where Jinaro is waiting impatiently* * Jalanda looks apologetic. "It may be nothing, but I have an ominous feeling. We should not trust what we see ahead of us so quickly..." * Nathan hefts his pack, and heads out after Lily * Feray eyes Jal for a moment, taking her words to heart, and follows after Lily. * Erellisae follows after the group, trying to look inconspicuous. ^^; Lily whistles as they head out of town. A few people glance at them funny, but no one bothers them, and soon they are on the main road leading through the plains toward the jungle not so far away... Such a lasting impression we leave wherever we go ^_- * Jalanda says her goodbyes and blessings, and leaves the inn with the group, cautiousness showing in her features. * Feray stares at the jungle longingly, wondering what prey it holds briefly before stopping herself from getting carried away. People WUV US! ^_- We're so cuddly and cute. Can you blame them? ^_- * Erellisae tugs at her collar a bit. ^^; "Yay, more hot humid jungle." Jinaro is mostly silent as they walk. The morning passes uneventfully, and after a while they enter the murky green of the jungle... * Mitsuo keeps quiet, walking along. * Nathan chuckles ^_^ * Dylan opens his shirt halfway, fanning himself Birds call loudly, and brightly colored lizards slither along the jungle floor. Branches rustle as various animals make their way through the trees. Sunlight filters down in a dim green glow. Bleh. * Feray 's eyes glimmer with excitement as she wanders through the underbush, the heat not bothering her at all. * Dylan idly carries his axe over one shoudler, using it to push foliage out of the way * Nathan works through the jungle as best he can Jinaro is mostly silent as they travel, deftly stepping over obstacles and hacking away at foliage with his machete where necessary. So...anyone read any good books lately? So how far is it to this place? Actually, answer Nate's question. It's the burning, itchy one of the day. * Cassidy quietly follows along.. * [Jinaro] Not far. Perhaps a two day journey though. Two days...? Two days through here. This should be interesting to say the least * Erellisae looks hot under her hair. --; "Two /days/...?" [Jinaro] Yes. We make camp at nightfall. * Jalanda remains quiet, not protesting the suggestion. Suddenly there is a rustling nearby, and Jinaro stops dead, signalling for silence. ... * Feray narrows her eyes, tensing.. * Nathan stops, wondering what the problem is The brush rustles again, and suddenly two jungle cats leap out of the trees, heading directly for the group! ...rematch! * Feray perks and draws her sword. * Dylan readies his axe.. * Nathan slips into a combat posture! Hrmmm.. A large ape swings down out of the trees as well! O_o * Erellisae steps behind most of the group, taking out her mace. ^^; * Cassidy draws out her blade, and readies to strike.. * Ok...does this strike anyone as odd? ;) * Feray stares at the ape in faint amusement. >> Jinsa Cats 1 and 2, Tengin Ape appear! * Mitsuo pulls out his rings, "...Dangit." * Jalanda duck out of the way of the ape as it swings into action. >> Battle begin! I'm not sure....we should stop monkeying around ;) Jinaro, is the odd? [Jinaro] Jungle cats dangerous...stay on your toes. * Feray grins wickedly at that. * Nathan takes position in front of the casters * Nathan slides a grin at Feray, "Bad jungle humor. No cookie." ^-- Aww...and here I was hungry...guess I'll have to annoy this ape for a banana. ^_- Kinky ^_^ * Feray stares at Nate for a moment and then shakes her head. ;) * Mitsuo remains tensely focuses on the enemies, wiping a bit of sweat from his face. * Nathan laughs, and returns to the fight >> Jina cat growls at Feray! Ooh, but we only just met! >> Mitsuo's declaration. * Feray growls back, baring elongated beastial incisors. The cat starts circling Feray threateningly. * Feray tracks the cat with her eyes, turning slowly with it so it doesn't catch her from behind... * Nathan makes sure to keep himself between the casters and the attackers * Mitsuo balls both of his hands into fists, a reddish aura seeping from them. >> Erellisae's declaration. * Erellisae stays back, starting to concentrate as her hands glow red. Rrr.. >> Jinsa 1's declaration. Zeroes in on Feray, preparing a special attack! * Feray waggles her fingers beckoningly at the cat. >> Jinsa 2's declaration. Growls at Nathan and prepares to combo! * Nathan narrows his eyes at the cat Looks like we're the favorites of this jungle freakshow.. Lucky us :D >> Jalanda's declaration. * Feray grimaces a little and smothers a cough with her hand, her eyes still rivetted to the cat about to attack her.. * Jalanda pulls out a strange deck from the folds of her garments with her left hand, fingering one of the arcane cards... >> Nathan's declaration. * Nathan cups his hands behind him, gathering sparks between them >> Cassidy's declaration. * Cassidy gets ready to use Blink! * >> Tengin Ape's declaration. Prepares a special move aimed at Cassidy. >> Feray's declaration. * Feray eyes the Jinsa 1 and readies herself to use Blood Letting.. >> Dylan's declaration. * Dylan grips his axe in both hands, and prepares a overhead chop! <> I don't know what you're doing, but you stop now! >> Cassidy's action! * Cassidy vanishes! Executes Ferocious Pounce on Feray. 38 damage; Feray's magic is blocked! >> Jalanda's action! That didn't look pleasant * Feray grunts softly, a wide mark of claws going down her front...she growls.. Feray..! * Erellisae narrows her eyes at the cats, the glow between her hands intensifying. * Nathan looks at Cat 1, "You're gonna regret that in a sec buddy. Beleive you me." ^_- A great calamity is in your future... Tower! * Jalanda fluidly hurls a card at Jinsa 2 that affixes itself mysteriously to their person, embellished with the symbol of a great fortress struck by holy lightning. The skies above rumble briefly, before a bolt of power strikes down upon the foe like its effigy, rendering them helpless and dazed for a time. >> Jalanda executes Tower on Jinsa 2. 15 damage! >> Feray's action! * Feray leaps upwards and grabs onto a vine, swinging towards the cat. She collides with it and all the group can see is the glint of her blade as she tears into the soft furry side! >> Feray executes Blood Letting on Jinsa 1. 53 damage! * Nathan grins at Cat 1, "Told ya." ^_- * Feray rolls back to the group and grins as she straightens. "There. I'm appeased now." * Nathan applauds lightly ^_^ * Feray chuckles a little, wobbling a bit but still standing tall. "Thank you, thank you, I'm here all week." >> Tengin Ape's action. Executes Jungle Smash! Cassidy takes 43 damage! Dylan takes 30 damage! Erellisae takes 37 damage! Feray takes 24 damage! Jalanda takes 37 damage! Mitsuo takes 34 damage! Nathan takes 35 damage! G-gahh...! --; * Nathan gets clobbered! ....ggnnhh.. * Erellisae falters from a falling coconut, but manages to keep concentrating on her spell. That didn't feel good X_x * Feray staggers back and chokes, spitting up blood... * Jalanda staggers back, the swing catching her more firmly than she'd have liked.. Aghh! * Cassidy is smacked, and sent skittering across the jungle floor! * Agh! O_o * Nathan hops back onto his feet, looking pissed OK, fun's over buddy >> Nathan's action! * Dylan growls. Here, catch! * Nathan compresses a sparking ball of energy in his hands, before hurling it at his target, where it explodes on impact! >> Nathan executes Blue Tidal Bullet on Tengin Ape. 35 damage! * Feray squints through the pain at the animals and chuckles wetly.. "Ughn...a little more bite to them..." >> Mitsuo's action! * Nathan looks at the state of the party, and considers things a bit while shaking off the loose sparks Sometimes you kill the animals, sometimes the animals smash you in the face.. Playtime's over! Burning rage, explode and consume! * Mitsuo steps away, and a burst of flame erupts from the ground underneath an enemy. An umbrella of flame opens outward, scarring all it touches with fingers of fire! * Jalanda gets her wind back, surveying the group's wounds... >> Mitsuo casts Burnflame! 57 damage to Jinsa 1...Jinsa 1 is down! 58 damage to Jinsa 2. 59 damage to Tengin Ape. * Feray closes her eyes tight and rubs her hand against her face. * Nathan stands up straight and puts his fists together, staring forward into space >> Erellisae's action! * Erellisae grins at Mitsuo. "Hmph! This is how you do it!" ;) * Erellisae grins, holding out her hand as a corona of flame envelops it. Stepping back, she throws the flame at the enemy where it bursts outward into an explosion of flame! * Mitsuo whoos and claps! >> Erellisae casts Burnflame. 67 damage to Jinsa 2....Jinsa 2 is down! 66 damage to Tengin Ape....Tengin Ape is down! There's an old trick I want to try out * Erellisae continues to look pleased... then just looks overheated again. ;_; "Agh... too humid..." * Dylan relaxes... Please...someone do something before I die of blood loss before seizures.. ^^; Jinaro frowns at Feray, seeing a strange silvery aura around her. He rummages in his pack for something. * Nathan continues to stare, until his pupils dialate to the point that there's nothing else but that in his eyes * Mitsuo blinks at Nathan. O_o * Nathan lowers his hands, and blackness swallows the party. Just as quickly, the blackness peels away, and the party appears to be in some kind of underwater desert, devoid of any life. GRANDMOTHER! * Nathan raises his hands and a single magical tone floods the landscape, and life suddenly explodes into being, bringing vitality and abundance to everything it touches, including the party! For a moment, one can only bask in the glory of it all, before the party is warped back from they were taken. Nathan executes Song of the Sea! G...guh! * Dylan blinks * Mitsuo blinks a LOT, looking disorented at the sudden scene change. O_o * Jalanda pauses her intoning... and stares rather intently at the merman's new trick... All allies regain 39 HP. * Erellisae binks. "Aw, pretty!" :D * Nathan flashes a victory sign ^_^ * Cassidy blinks and shakes her head, a bit disorented. * ^^; Neat trick. * Jalanda completes her Heal spell in Feray's direction, solidifying the effect. ^^ Old tricks are often the best :) Gotta start hiring you out at parties.. * Erellisae blinks. "Wait, Grandmother?" * Feray chuckles weakly as Jal's healing glow envelopes her. Did we just get to meet your mom or somethin'? ^^; * Nathan winks at Feray Jalanda casts Heal. Feray regains 57 HP. In Merfolk lore, all life and gods came from the sea. Merfolk were made by the gods, so the sea is our grandmother Mother ocean is older than many things... * Erellisae blinks, thinks, then nods. "I think I sea. Er, see." ^^ Heh ^_- * Feray nods a little in thanks and still looks exhausted besides. She rubs her face.. So, everyone OK now? Jinaro hands Feray a purplish-green handful of leaves. ...? * Mitsuo remains quiet, rubbing his eyes a bit, then he finally speaks, "I'm okay. Thank you." [Jinaro] Chew these. You should be able to cast magic again. * Feray eyes Jinaro for a moment. * Jalanda looks around the jungle again, still noticibly edgy, but not about the wildlife so much as something else... * Feray then flicks the leaves into her mouth and chews them, grimacing comically. * Erellisae eyes Mitsuo. "You suuuuure?" Holy spirits...that tastes like...like...badness. * Mitsuo nods a bit, "I'm fine...really. ^^" * Feray wrinkles her nose in a cute manner. The leaves have an odd, almondy flavor. :P Feray's status is restored! * Nathan helps Feray to her feet Up ya go My thanks, Jinaro. I alone could not remove such a curse... *small bow* * Feray blinks and chuckles at Nate, grinning a little. "Aw, shucks...thank ye, kind sir." * Erellisae continues to eye Mitsuo, looking suspicious. Jinaro looks around. [Jinaro] The fighting will have scared off forest creatures; they don't like magic. This is a safe place to camp for the night. *the party can see the light is dimming* * Nathan grins at Feray Jinaro nods to Jalanda. [Jinaro] You're welcome. Camp...mm. Good. ^^; Jinaro starts setting up his tent. Lily follows suit, opening her pack and pulling out her bedroll and tent canvas. * Erellisae continues to eye Mitsuo. She's leaning over rather far, giving him the evil eye. She looks... more comical than evil. ^^; Ooh, camp....we'll all have to sleep together...you know, for the body heat...cause it gets cold later....really. ^_- * Nathan laughs! * Mitsuo finally notices Erel's gaze, "...What? Do I have something in my teeth? ^^;" * Nathan goes about setting up camp for the night * Feray shakes her head and helps out. * Erellisae hrrmphs, and straightens up, poking Mitsuo in the side. "You /better/ be telling the truth! No more being quiet and broody!" ...I'm being broody? O_o Huh? * Nathan chuckles at Mits and Erel * Jalanda looks at the fading sun, thinking about magical fire Erel and Mitsuo evoked. After a while, she pulls out her travelbag from.. somewhere, and produces a bedroll and pillow from it, setting herself up as well. * Feray arches an eyebrow at the two. "Aww...young love....bickering already...soon there'll be smoochies to be had!" Oooh, can I be the best man at the wedding? ^_- * Mitsuo acks and blushes, "Ack! Now stop that!" As long as I get to toss the flower petals...that's such a cool job.. * Erellisae blinks, and turns to Feray and Nathan. "Heeeey now! The pot calling the kettle black!" ^_~ Lily chuckles, rolling out her bedroll. The jungle noises sound it gets dark. [Lily] Someone want to see about dinner? * Mitsuo loses his blush, and nods sagely, "Indeed. I mean, look at those two over there, so close like that. I think we'd have to get a crowbar to seperate them, eh Erel?" ;) * Feray arches both eyebrows and then turns to Lily, blushing faintly. Dinner? * Nathan looks innocent, "What? Us? Surely you jest. We art naught but traveling warriors joined only in the perils of fortune and battle." ^_^ Need a hunter? Or huntress, for this matter? ^_- [Lily] Yes, you know that meal you eat in the evening? Oh suuuurrre. ;) Lily chuckles. [Lily] Sure. I have enough for a meal, but no fresh meat. Go ahead. But take Jinaro with you, just in case. "C'mon, let's go grab these guys something hefty with lots of teeth and anger problems." "I'll make it into a new outfit, maybe, or sell it. Anyway...be back in a bit!" * Feray trots off into the darkness. Lily quickly and deftly skins the animal, cleaning the pelt as best she can and finally rolling it up and stowing it away with Feray's things. ^_^ The sensation only grows stronger... * Nathan hops up from digging the pit and goes to see about getting some decent wood for the fire * Cassidy sits down, leaning against a tree, watching the others bustle about.. * Be back in a sec folks. Don't wander off eh? ^_- Kay, Nathan. * Mitsuo stares into the firepit, going back to being a bit quiet. * Erellisae blinks, then watches Mitsuo, arching an eyebrow. Lily rummages in her pack for cooking supplies. * Jalanda looks to Nathan as he says this, mumbling quietly at first, then raising her voice. "Don't wander... indeed." * Nathan looks back at Jalanda for a moment Don't worry, I'm not going farther than line-of-sight with the camp * Mitsuo doesn't seem to be sad, but ...tired? It's hard to tell. * Erellisae mmmphs slightly as Mitsuo continues to be all silent. Hmm? No... it... this place conspires to split and weaken us. Do not falter. * Erellisae eyes Mitsuo. Huh? O_o * Jalanda falls silent again, sitting on her rather fancy pillow and waiting for events to unfold, or perhaps more striking clarity. * Erellisae grabs Mitsuo suddenly, tickling him. :D Gack! Be happier!" ^_~ ^^; I am!...Really. * Nathan returns with a bundle of sticks and logs, and starts setting them up in the firepit Lily has the food all ready to cook and is only waiting for Feray to bring the meat. ^^ These might still be a little wet, so expect some popping Lily nods. * Feray trots back into the circle of the camp, dragging a decent sized boar-like thing. She has a smear of blood under one eye and is grinning like mad. No problem, Nathan. Very good hunting. ^^ * Feray flops down onto her bedroll and stares at the sky, exhaling loudly as her spine pops. ^^; Lily chuckles. [Lily] Thanks, Feray. *Starts preparing the meat for dinner* Huntress need man servant to give massage. * Feray grunts again. ;) * Nathan laughs again! * Erellisae grins, eying Feray. She nudges Mitsuo, and points at Feray. "Pot, kettle, black. See?!" ^_~ * Mitsuo laughs, "I see! ^^" Hmph. You two are cruising to be some very broody, unhappy pretzel-like mages. ;) * Jalanda looks up from her meditation, smiling slightly. "...at least some things I forsee are joyful." * Nathan grins at all the antics It isn't long before Lily has a nice cut of meat roasting over the fire, basted in some of her special sauce. ^^ After a while, she gets out plates and a big carving knife. [Lily] Dinner's ready! * Nathan helps himself, feeling quite hungry * Feray 's stomach gurgles happily at the mention of food and she sits up, scootching over to the fire and quickly grabbing her share of the food. She tears into it eagerly. * Mitsuo takes a bit of the meat, and starts to eat. * Jalanda is certainly not one to turn down Lilly's masterful cooking. * Dylan shakes his head, having apparently been wrapped up in internal thought, or just overheating.. M...delish. Definitely not like fish * Erellisae grabs some food. ^ Lily wastes no time in helping herself, nor does Jinaro. ^^ Dinner! And by the famous chef Lily no less. ^-^. A Good day to be alive Lily chuckles. [Lily] Thank you; I'm glad you like it. After polishing off her food, Lily yawns. [Lily] Well, I'm turning in. Can I leave the cleanup to someone else? * Dylan grabs food, and commences eating it. * Mitsuo finishes his food, but looks like he didn't eat much of it... I'll clean it up, at thanks for the meal * Jalanda nods, having her share gratefully. "I will handle it, I am not very tired just yet..." * Nathan wipes his mouth, "Ah...very passable indeed." ^_^ * Feray skitters back to her bedroll and flops onto it, exhaling happily. "Ooh. Full now. Sleep." * Feray throws an arm over her face. Lily nods. [Lily] Thanks again. *Heads off for her tent. Jinaro silently takes the watch at the edge of camp.* * Jalanda raises an eyebrow to Feray, then does her fair share with Dylan vs. the dishes. ^^ * Erellisae sighs, looking hot. ^^; "Ugh... hot'n'drowsy..." * Nathan tides up a bit after himself, then heads to his bedroll * Mitsuo rubs his eyes heavily, and stands up, "...I'm gonna go to bed." All right adventurers, I'm heading off to sleep. Play nice while I'm away ^_- * Dylan cleans up merrily, yawning occasionally * Mitsuo sighs, and actually looks a bit on the wan side, but before you can really check to be sure he heads off to bed. Ahhh.. almost a close call earlier.. * Nathan slips into bed and is soon asleep Mmm... yes. I have a feeling it is not over, however... it pervades my thoughts... * Cassidy remains seated by her tree, keeping quiet vigil.. * It's a big jungle, we'll probably have to scare off creatures again. * Jalanda finish up some of the remaining work, taking a few breaths. "Perhaps. But whatever happens... please, stay close to everyone." * Dylan checks everything is done, and then lies on a bedroll, too hot to sleep undercovers, and starts to doze * Jalanda arises then walks over to her bedroll, returning to her silent sleep with the others, though it will most certainly be a light one. The next morning, many are awake early, having suffered a restless night. Strange dreams and nightmares plagued their sleep, indefinable but threatening... * Dylan grumbles beneath his breath as he packs up for the day.. * Erellisae hardly even gives a cursory good morning call, staying rather huddled in a ball. * Mitsuo is still asleep. Oi, Mitsuo. Mornin' Lily stumbles out of bed, dark circles under her eyes. Jinaro is awake at the edge of camp, a guarded look in his eyes. He doesn't seem terribly surprised however, only wary... ...All right, as night's sleep goes, that one blew big wind -_-; Mmmgh... * Jalanda remains lying down, but you can see she's sweating heavily as her eyes snap open. "...guh..." * Dylan rolls Mitsuo over with a foot ...mmgh...Ow! Lily mumbles something in response to Nathan. * Feray shivers in her bedroll, a hand clenched at her pillow. She nuzzles the pillow and growls unhappily. ...more sleep. good sleep. better sleep. need. come back tomorrow. Jinaro sighs. [Jinaro] It seems we are plagued once again by the evil dreams of the night... * Nathan looks the group over, and doesn't like what he sees * Jalanda rises with a jerked, forced motion, looking over the camp with a great fear in her lavender eyes. Ooookay, Jinaro explain, yis? * Feray sighs tiredly and pushes herself up, squinting unhappily. * Dylan wanders over to Erel, and shakes her gently by the shoulder * Jalanda calms her breathing. "...just a vision, and nothing more..." .....this jungle blows. Big time. Jinaro shrugs. [Jinaro] The nightmares have plagued our village for some weeks now. Some nights they come, others they do not. It has happened ever since the adventurers passed through our lands... Ms. Erellisae.. * Cassidy remains quiet.. * * Erellisae huddles a little tighter into her ball at the contact. She seems to have been crying. Hmm... * Nathan shakes his head, and busies himself with preparing to break camp * Jalanda composes herself, glancing in Jinaro's direction. "You speak the truth on these matters?" * Mitsuo seems to have fallen back to sleep. * Feray remains sitting firmly in her bedroll. * Feray glares about unhappily. Come on, Ms. Erellisae, it was only a dream.. This would explain my premonitions... Jinaro simply nods. * Nathan looks over at Feray, "Hey, you okay?" * Cassidy gets to her feet, and strides over to Mitsuo, prodding him with her foot. * Up and at 'em, Sunshine. Let's blow this popsicle stand. No. Sleep is supposed to be wonderful and calming. It's supposed to be magical and refreshing. It's not supposed to have eight legs. And want to EAT YOUR FACE. * Dylan frowns.. ... * Mitsuo nughs again, and finally sits up, looking very washed out, "...Sorry..." * Erellisae remains huddled tightly in a ball, sobbing slightly. Yeah, tell me about it. * Feray shakes her head and calms herself, pushing herself out of her bed roll... * Dylan sighs, and leaves Erel alone for the moment.. * Mitsuo stands up, stumbling out of his bed roll. Let's just all try to do this business quickly. I'd rather not have to put up with that for several nights in a row * Feray looks towards Erel.. Indeed. I find it quite unpleasent. Dill seems rather disturbed too.. * Jalanda pulls her hood around her face, to not show anyone she's still quite shaken by something she saw in the dream. * Nathan takes a very deep breath, and resumes his packing Jinaro and Lily are all ready to go, apparently intent on leaving this place... * Feray frowns and trots over, reaching out to forcefully tug Erel against her. "Hey. It's alright." Did these adventurers go towards the temple ruins? Perhaps.. something there... awoke.. Or some ancient device.. * Erellisae turns, latching tightly onto Feray in a rather large hug given her size. ^^; Her sobs start to die down a little. Jinaro nods. [Jinaro] Yes, they did. We have also thought they may have accidentally awoken something. If they did, they did not realize it. * Feray softens a little and strokes Erel's hair, mumbling to her comfortingly for a moment. * Mitsuo shakes his head, recalling his own dream. Yes... the spirits here are disturbed, and we are caught in their wake. It may be another clue as to the whereabouts of whom we seek in this green maze. Hmm. I doubt whatever awoke would announce itself.. especially if it was Justin or Feena.. Splendid. I suppose you want to check this out then. Lily clears her throat. [Lily] Well, the sooner we get out of here, the better...let's get moving. * Feray glances over her shoulder at the others and idly wonders how she's going to move with an Erel-shaped attachment. * Jalanda nods, then peers over at Erel and Feray embracing... * Erellisae releases her hold a little on Feray, wiping her eyes. "I-I'm okay..." It may have a connection with your duties, Cassidy, and I doubt you can function at full effeciency without good sleep * Nathan looks over at Feray and Erel, then shoulders Feray's pack for a bit Yeah, yeah you are....it was a dream, Little Bit..we're all here and in one piece and we're getting out of this stinky jungle, eh, and to a nice warm Inn.. With big pillows. * Feray nods a little. * Erellisae nods. ^^; "O-okay. Let's go..." ^^ * Feray ruffles Erel's hair and stands, turning to raise an eyebrow at Nate. Want me to carry your stuff, Ms. Erellisae? You seem a little shaken still.. Exit stage that-a-way *points* * Jalanda walks over to them, kneeling down a bit. "Whatever you have seen... do not fear it. It is gone with the daylight as a thin viel is brushed aside by the wind. It has no power now." * Erellisae shakes her head. "No, I'll be okay. Gotta learn to shoulder stuff, right?" ^^ * Dylan smiles If you need a hand, just ask.. * Feray arches an eyebrow at Jal as well but nods, heading over to Nate and running finger down his shoulder to grab onto her pack, tugging it from him. "Here, I'm not an invalid because of a bad dream, sailor." ^^; Jinaro and Lily start walking off through the forest. * Mitsuo begins to trudge along, looking very worn out and definetely broody. But he has reason to BE broody. Never said you were ^_- * Erellisae sighs a little shakily, then runs to catch up with the others. * Feray settles her pack into place and heads after Lily, attempting to stay cheery. ^^; * Cassidy falls in behind the others, silently following along. * * Jalanda follows behind, having reasons now to be alert. * Dylan walks alongside Cassidy, keeping an eye on most of the group.. * Feray rubs the scars on her arm.. There is a rustling in the bushes ahead. Lily sighs as Jinaro takes a defensive stance. [Lily] Not AGAIN... * Cassidy says nothing, but seems thankful for the company.. * ... Oi ...Nugh... * Mitsuo pulls out his rings once more. * Nathan drops his pack and gets ready to fight Lily calls out into the trees.... I'll be okay...Just...give me a moment... Alright.. * Mitsuo leans against a tree and tries to catch his breath. I think people are kind of tapped out in a sense. Last night didn't do well to recharge anyone's batteries * Dylan frowns Yeah. Erellisae frowns and pokes Mitsuo worriedly. :/ * Feray chuckles softly. "I feel better now, actually. Stress relief." * Jalanda rests her eyes on Mitsuo, looking concerned. "Yes... this place is indeed conspiring against us... how much farther to this village?" Come on, let's keep moving Seriously...I'm all right. Please...let's keep going... * Mikari comes out of the brush, sheathing her dagger, apparently having attempted a back attack but not been able to find an opening. Or something. [Jinaro] Not far. Come. Jinaro starts walking. You heard the good looking fellow...let's follow. * Nathan follows, looking rather beat * Dylan follows, looking.. unhappy. * Mitsuo trudges along, his breathing a bit better. * Mikari lets out a sigh and takes up the rear. Ahead through the trees, they can hear the soft sounds of civilization. As the trees part, they can see the wooden stake walls of the village and the smoke of cookfires ahead.... * Jalanda pushes onward, the weary faces on her companions not encouraging her own thoughts... * Feray wrinkles her nose. Please say that this is it Smelly fire, yes. * Mitsuo smiles for the first time all day, "Thank goodness..." Either that or it's an impressive mirage.. Jinaro nods. [Jinaro] This is the village, yes. >> As the party comes nearer, the wood stake walls appear to be only a gate, as the foliage has now become dense enough that it is more than enough protection for the entire area. A stream runs through the thick brush, oftentimes so forested it seems bushes are growing IN the stream. After a few more paces, they start to come within view of the living quarters themselves... Lily looks around curiously. Mm... * Nathan looks around with interest >> The village itself is almost entirely in the trees. The trees here have huge root "cages" at their bases, from erosion, which are themselves overgrown with vines and brush. It's obvious why they didn't choose to build on the ground. A network of ropes, pullies, water chutes, and vines connect a series of treehouses and treehuts, making sense of the chaotic layout and unifying the entire settlement. * Dylan trudges along, not really looking around much.. Wow... * Feray furrows her brow. * Jalanda takes in the sights, the whole place alive with a great aestic beauty of nature around it. * Mitsuo then sways a bit, looking very worn out. Bah. Sleep first. Guh... Interesting 3-dimensional design they have going on here Erellisae reaches out to try to steady Mitsuo. :/ * Mikari keeps very quiet and appears indifferent at first glance, but is spending so much concetration on looking taking in the entire sight that she seems to forget to blink. Gonna be okay there, bud? Mmm... this place... a presence lingers. I'll be okay after sleep... Lily eyes Mikari Today hasn't been my day... * Feray eyes Mitsuo.. * Mitsuo notes everyone is now eying him and looks uneasy. As the group enters the village, several villagers recognize Jinaro and head over to him. Many others smile brightly and wave to the newcomers. Least they're not trying to beat us up. ^^; Oh I'm sure we can fix that in our usual way ^_- * Jalanda nods. "We need to find a place to set down... and not rile up the natives any more than necessary," She says the last part in a slightly condecending tone. * Feray grins and bumps her hip against Nate's lightly. "Our charming selves at work...yeah, I could see how we'd turn this welcome mat upside down." * Mikari's lips tense up, and she seems to avoid the front of the crowd now when the attention begins to be laid on thick. At least let's find a dry patch to sleep on before we do. I don't feel like being chased up a tree and have it set fire to before breakfast ^_- * Feray glances at Jal and sticks her tongue out. Well, I think we've been told ^_- * Mikari frowns a little bit at Feray's playfulness, even though she has no reason to believe they will be ill-received... * Jalanda doesn't get offended, doing her best to return the warm greeting of the populace with one of her own polite bows. Scolded by the mommy figure of the group. Sigh. My life is filled with angry mommy figures. * Feray shakes her head. * Nathan chuckles * Dylan waves a greeting to the crowd A couple of the villagers approach, chatting happily with Jinaro. He says a few words to them, then turns to the others. [Jinaro] My job is done, if I may have my pay. If you require my services again, any villager knows where to find me. * Cassidy forks over some cash. * Here you are. Don't wander too far, since we'll be needing you for the second half of the trip. Jinaro nods and smiles faintly. [Jinaro] Not to worry. You will want to speak with the chief, I think. My friends will take you. *Wanders off* [Villager Woman] Do you wish to make your greetings to our chief? *Smiles* * Cassidy shrugs, and looks back to the others. * You up for it? * Mitsuo nods a little. I think so Lily nods. [Lily] Yes, please. [Villager Woman] Follow me, then! *Heads off through the trees, climbing the narrow stairs on the outside of one of the tree trunks. * Cassidy saunters along behind. * * Mitsuo trudges behind the group. * Nathan tries to keep pace, not wanting to get lost Soon they find themselves standing outside a rather ornate door to one of the larger treetop buildings. The woman bows slightly to them. [Woman] You will find Chief Jahla inside. Please be respectful. * Feray arches an eyebrow but nods. * Dylan opens the door slowly. * Jalanda nods to the woman, and enters the chief's treehouse carefully. Inside come the smells of soup cooking on a stove. A middle-aged woman's voice sounds from inside. [Woman] Hello? Who's there? Let yourself in please, I have my hands full... * Dylan holds the door for the others.. * Cassidy steps in.. * * Dylan lets everyone else in, then lets the door close. The woman inside puts down her wooden spoon, looks up, and smiles. [Chief Jahla] Ah, strangers. Have you come from Nendasa, then? Why do you grace our humble village with your presence this afternoon? * Feray frowns in displeasure but says nothing. * Feray brightens as she notices the chief is a woman as well as the chef. That makes it okay. ;) * Mikari nods blankly and waits to see who is going to be expected talk here. For tonight, we seek lodging, but we are also interested in the adventurers that passed through recently.. * Jalanda looks over the hut carefully, nodding under her hood. "Yes, we have traveled far through the jungles seeking news of Justin and Feena having passed this way." The chief takes a seat in a large chair, nodding. [Jahla] Ah, you mean Justin and Feena? Yes, they honored us with their presence some weeks ago. What would you know of them? * Mikari listens to the others comments, waiting for the seemingly inevitable attention she's thinks she's going to get once they ask her where she's from... if that will indeed happen after all. Hmm. So it was them. A good sign... * Jalanda raises her eyes after the gesture, to look more directly. "It has been given to us the task of finding them, by none other than Leen herself... they are in grave danger." Also, having been brought here, we have grappled with a strange curse upon the slumbering... nightmares... our guide, Jinaro has spoke of these occuring after they had left the village. Jahla sighs and nods. [Jahla] Yes, the nightmares are a curse that have plagued us since the adventurers departed. We are not certain why; perhaps it has something to do with their destination, across the endless western sea...we advised them not to go, but they would not be dissuaded. Hmm. What did they do while they were here? * Mikari nods a little grimly. [Jahla] They explored several jungle ruins, including the ancient Spirit Temple that once housed the holy relics of the Tenkali of old. Once housed? * Jalanda pauses to think. "So that is the temple they spoke of..." * Mikari nods, and can't help but passively consider the idea of recovering more exotic relics... So they probably upset something then.. geeze.. I've heard that one before.. [Jahla] The temple was closed off to us many generations ago. The relics should still be there, but Justin and Feena found no trace of them. * Jalanda lowers her gaze. "I hope the spirits of your ancestors have not been desturbed, for it could cause such a thing..." Strange... Jahla nods to Cassidy. [Jahla] This is what we fear. They are familiar with the danger, but they apparently believed they had disturbed nothing of import. The nightmares did not begin until they had left. Hmm. If you do not mind, it might be best for us to examine the ruins. Even the kindest houseguests can leave muddy footprints.. Or at least, we can find clues as to why they journeyed west with such fervour.. * Jalanda nods, in silent agreement with Dylan. (m) ...I wonder... Jahla nods. [Jahla] Indeed. They seemed to be merely swept up in the fervor of expedition- if the tales are true, telling them no one has ever traveled to a place is enough reason for them to go there- but we got the feeling they were hiding something. If sentiments in Nendasa mean anything, perhaps they were pursued. We are not certain. * Jalanda mumbles, "The shadow that stalks them... why can I not see it." [Jahla] I can guess that perhaps you wish to explore the ruins and determine the cause of the curse...? * Mitsuo tries his best to stay awake and listen, but he looks very worn and pale. Yes. And, if we can, lift it. [Jahla] I must warn you, it will likely be dangerous. * Jalanda dismisses the ramble. "If you would gvie us humble shelter, we would do everything in our power to shed light upon this malady." * Cassidy glances at Dylan.. * * Mikari nods. "Ruins, yeah. We'll chart it out real well, at least." * Dylan shrugs Great. Danger is our middle name. Not as dangerous as following Justin and Feena unprepared.. * Mikari looks at Feray. * Feray arches an eyebrow at Mikari.
