Session Start: Sat May 11 21:05:31 2002 *** GMAmy changes topic to 'Grandia: New Horizons | Chapter 27.2: Mikari and Feray Lude | Location: Tenkala village, afternoon, July 6 | Lude Start' The party limps back to the village, tired and sore, helping to support an injured Feray. As they approach, a few of the Tenkali see their predicament and go to call the healer. * Mikari walks up to the entrance of the village, helping Feray along with an arm and a shoulder for support. She looks around at the people reacting to the situation. * Feray grimaces with each movement, very sore despite the impromptu healing session Jal gave her. She leans heavily on Nate and Mikari, stumbling every so often. "Ow...ow...ow.." The chief pokes her head out of her hut, then hurries down the ladder to approach them and determine the situation. The healer soon arrives as well, taking Feray's arm and helping Mikari guide her to the inn. * Feray eyes the healer with obvious distrust. ^^; * Mikari says a word to Nathan and then jogs up beside Feray to help her with the injury. The healer eases Feray into a chair gently, attempting to shoo away her companions, who are hovering about her. Jalanda leans over to explain Feray's injuries to him, and he nods, rummaging in his bag. Jahla appears at the door to the inn, watching and hanging back momentarily, but it is obvious she wants to speak with them... * Feray grunts softly and shies away slightly from the healer.. "Nhhn....if you make this worse, I'll.." [Healer] Don't worry, miss, I know what I'm doing. * He gently takes the splinted arm and begins to reset it, sparing her as much pain as possible. He also hands her some leaves to chew, telling her they will help with pain. Jahla approaches, then speaks quietly. [Jahla] Might I ask what happened? * She glances oddly at the bracelets Mikari and Feray are still wearing. * Feray chews furiously on the leaves, a faint sheen of sweat breaking out on her forehead despite the healer's attempt at gentleness as he begins to reset her arm. She is pale looking, the bracelet glinting oddly in the dim sunlight. "Mmnhh. Mikari better explain." The splint reset, the healer rigs up a sling for Feray, then proceeds to bandage some of the worst of the gashes. Jahla looks questioningly at Mikari. * Mikari stands quietly beside until she notices Jahla looking at her newly acquired jewelry. She covers it up with her other hand reflexively. "Well, er... these're what we found in th'ruins... perhaps they're what th'church was lookin' for... I dunno." * Feray tenses for a moment and eyes the healer warily still as he begins to bandage the wounds. She then slowly relaxes, exhaling with a soft mutter. "Hate getting tended to.." Jahla nods slowly. [Jahla] They appear much like the Tenkali Relics, according to legend. Are they the artifacts you were seeking? *raises an eyebrow* Feray's seemed to have at least kept 'er from gettin' more hurt than she already is... some bizarre plant thing came outta v'it. Jahla looks very interested. [Jahla] Really? It would seem the legends are true, then.... Some of the rest of the party have left, seeing there is little more they can do now that Feray is in a healer's capable hands. Dylan and Jalanda leave, talking softly, but Nathan remains, hovering over Feray with some concern. Well, we didn't know 'zactly WHAT we were lookin' for, but considerin' there are two of 'em, it seems like they just might be after all... You know, the whole lege-.... story 'bout th'twin Icarians, and all. * Feray idly considers asking Nathan to rub her feet or something equally as self serving but just settles for casting him a weary smile before looking towards Jahla.. Jahla raises an eyebrow. [Jahla] I confess that aspect had escaped me. * She turns to Nathan, frowning in thought, then finally speaks. * I am terribly sorry, but may I ask you to leave? I must speak to these two in private. With a sigh Nathan nods, patting Feray's shoulder gently with one hand and exiting the inn. * Feray furrows her brow after Nate leaves, watching him for a moment before looking to Jahla once more... Well, if ya never went in t'find 'em, sure, ya won't know anything about 'em after all these centuries... but anyway, that's what we found out about the ruins. And Feray fell about 40 feet or so in th'process. Yeah. It was like flying. Without the actual flying process and a lot more pain. Jahla gives them a rueful smile, then becomes serious again. [Jahla] Now I'm afraid I must ask you what you plan to do with the relics... I dunno. If we could use 'em to get the li'l church militia coming here to go away, that'd be nice, but I don't think it's gonna happen. Right now it seems the best use for 'em is just keepin' 'em outta their hands. Jahla nods. [Jahla] They do belong to the village, but we have been without them for so long... *She thinks for a moment* Mikari, that is your name, correct...? * Feray watches the conversation silently, running her fingers over the leafy pattern of the bracelet....she seems as if she doesn't quite wanna let the thing go, considering it just basically saved her hide. ^^; * Mikari nods quietly. [Jahla] Then you ARE Thomas's daughter. It has been so long, I wasn't sure...you were little more than a baby when you left here. * Feray arches a slender eyebrow. * Mikari sighs in mild resignation, having known it would come out eventually. ^^; Should I be here for this..? ^^; I can haul my wounded butt out of here if you want.. Jahla glances at Feray. [Jahla] I suppose that is entirely up to Mikari... * Mikari shakes her head, looking down. "Nahh, it's no secret anymore. I never like secrets much anyway." * Feray snorts softly and grins weakly. "Good. Cause I wasn't gonna actually move. You think I fell forty feet to walk myself out of here?" ...So, chief, what does this mean to you?... Jahla takes a seat. "Do you know of the promise your father made to us when he left the village 22 years ago?" Oh yeah, I know damn well about that...... Would you like me to repeat it for you as I remember it? Jahla nods. "If you wish, yes. Though perhaps you would also like to hear my side of it when you are through." Well, s'not like it's takes that long to 'splain. He promised you people that I'd come back 'n' live in your village after I got t'be a certain age. Well, I'd lived m'whole life out there and didn't wanna go back when I got t'be old enough. * Feray tries to listen but finds her lids growing heavier and heavier with each word...she shifts once, before her head bows on her chest and she begins to sleep. Jahla nods. [Jahla] Yes, that was the promise he made. But the age was supposed to be somewhere around 14, if I recall...of course we will not attempt to hold you to the promise he made now that you are grown. I only hope you don't think badly of our people. We had a reason for asking it of your father... Well, that's a good thing, cuz it's a bit late now... but don't worry, I don't blame it on you now.... Jahla nods. "I'm glad to hear that." She frowns, thinking. "Well, I imagine you may have a home and people of your own, but if you ever need a place, the Tenkali would welcome you. But you must follow your own path." She stands and goes over to Feray, who is now asleep, and gently removes the bracelet from her arm.... Jahla hands the bracelet to Mikari. "I will give the relics in trust to you, to use as you see fit. I ask only that you not allow them to come to harm. Think of it as a token of good will from your people." * Mikari watches Feray for a moment, partially as an excuse not to make eye contact, which she can't seem to handle. When she is handed the bracelet, however, she blinks and looks up at Jahla. You're giving them to me?... Not just a loan or for protection?... [Jahla] I would like it if you returned them someday, when this quest you are on is at an end. You may have them at least till then. Afterward, come back to our village, and we will discuss it further. All right? * Mikari blinks bewilderedly, but puts the second one on the same wrist as the first. [Jahla] I'm afraid it's up to you to discover what they can do. They have been lost to us for a couple centuries, so no one is quite certain what they do anymore. Well, I've already seen some of it... I'm sure I can find out more, though. I hope it'll be useful to ya. ^^; Jahla nods and stands. [Jahla] I'll be on my way then for now. The healer will help your friend upstairs; you might wish to get some rest as well. * Mikari nods affirmingly and stands, pausing to look at Feray, the bracelets, and then at the door to the outside.
