Session Start: Sun Oct 21 03:54:35 2001 *** Heather changes topic to 'Grandia: New Horizons | Chapter 3.5: A Taste of Midnight. | Location: Eiken Village, night, June 8.' ------- Interlude Start-uu! ------------ >> Night has fallen upon Eiken Village. Many families are tucked at home within their beds, not fearing the darkness and what it may hold, trusting in the safety of being at "home". Yet not everyone sleeps. Not everyone is at "home". >> Feray, one of the adventurers, stirs from her uneasy slumber in her room and stretches before donning suitable clothing and making her way downstairs. >> Dylan, one of the adventurers, sits nursing an ale in the Inn's main bar area. The waitress putters around, serving assorted small crowds of good natured drinkers. A low, lazy beat is played from a musician who recieves cheers with each song played. However, Dylan is not one of the more cheerier patrons of the bar. He sits at a table alone, his small friend Dill away with Erellisae.... * Feray rubs her arm tiredly as she makes her way down the stairs to the bar area of the Inn, feeling the last vestiges of her troubled sleep fading around her...she brightens as she takes in the scenery. ^^ * Dylan idly watches starlight reflecting in his ale, seeming smaller and less imposing without his usual collection of armour and art equipment strapped to him. * Feray places a hand on her hip and winks at a guy in a corner who cheers at her goodnaturedly before noticing Dylan, sitting alone. She smiles and heads for his table, tapping him on the shoulder. * Dylan almost jumps out of his skin Whha!! Moo... * Dylan blinks Ah, woah there. ^^; Sorry! I didn't mean to startle you. Ah.. Ms. Feray. Please, sit down, have a beer. * Dylan stares at his ale for a moment, before taking a swig. * Feray grins at that and slumps down into a chair, resting her chin in her hand and regarding Dylan cheerily. "Don't mind if I do. Is it a strong brand here?" Not thick enough to drown your troubles, if you got 'em. But.. hmmoo.. it's pleasent and filling.. * Dylan smiles slightly Did you sleep well? * Feray motions to a waitress for a mug of what Dylan has and frowns a little. "Mm. Not really.....but that's okay. They can't all be winning nights." ^^ Well. You'll get a chance for some more before we go.. though I may be a little worse for wear tomorrow evening.. * Dylan sighs, idly scratching at a horn Tsk. I was about to ask why you weren't enjoying a nice night's sleep. Something up? * Feray loses most of her cheer and looks concerned. ^^ I'm really not sure.. all this seriousness.. I don't think I've quite... adjusted... yet. * Feray raises an slender eyebrow. "Seriousness?" >> The waitress sashays her way over and plunks down Feray's drink, recieving a hefty tip for her quick service. She quickly heads to her next patron. ^^ I came to Parm, idly travelling, looking without searching, no care but for myself and Dill. And now.. there's all of this and all of you.. and I feel responsible for you all.. * Feray considers those words, taking a hearty gulp of her drink.....she smiles warmly. "Responsible? Don't be silly. We can all handle ourselves....you should just relax a little....it'll all turn out fine." * Feray raises her mug. "No need for worry at all!" * Dylan smiles slightly I know.. I just don't like to see people hurt, at least when I think I can stop it.. It's just like when I decided to leave home in someways.. inevitable, not wrong, merely.. not as comfortable.. * Feray taps her chin. "I can relate there. I kind of miss the ease of being at home...but....the way I see it, any wounds or any things we learn here will only make us stronger, right? So maybe it's not such a bad thing that we get hurt occasionally." I mean, it'll just make us tougher and quicker in the end. ^^ I hope so. That last battle.. got pretty bad.. * Dylan shakes his head quickly I'm sorry. I shouldn't lay my worries upon you. Hey, we're in this together, right? I don't see why I shouldn't try and help you by listening! I mean, you'd do the same for me, right? * Dylan looks up through a window at the night sky Did you know, the stars aren't constant? * Feray twirls her ale in her mug and takes another healthy chug before blinking. "Aren't constant, huh? Well...nothing really is, is it? It wouldn't surprise me if they weren't." ^^; The night sky is different at home.. I always thought it would be the same.. and I could say "My family is watching that now.. It's not too far.. I can still go back", but it's different.. Aw, Dylan.... * Dylan turns his head around to look Feray in her eyes Ms. Feray? Why did you leave home? Why not just stay with your mother and the farm? * Feray blinks a little and chuckles, leaning back in her chair. "Well, if you're looking for something interesting... I'm afraid I'm going to disappoint you... I left home, originally, just briefly...to trade some furs and get supplies...but now, I'm in it for the money." After this, after we get the reward, I'm going to take my share and go back home...I can use that money there to fix the house up.. * Dylan blinks and sits back, chuckling Maybe plant some better crops.. * Feray grins meekly. ^^; Ah... we have someone sensible then.. I wouldn't call me exactly sensible.. ^^; My mother is probably readying her axe to come and get me. I haven't told her that I'm doing this yet. I was supposed to be home yesterday, I believe. ^^; * Dylan bursts out laughing, though quickly quiets down * Feray blushes faintly and downs the last of her drink, taking the time to regain some of her composure. ^^; Oh my... that's quite an amusing image.. you with grey hair tottering out of a house with a big axe as a walking cane.. Oh yeah! She's a little hunched over now too. It'd be like 'Feraaaaaaayyyyyy....my poor darling daughter!....where are youuuuu? I'll save youuu!' Sounding tired and heroic at the same time. ^^; Heh, I can image Aunt Milda hearing about Justin and charging over... * Feray laughs softly ^^ "There's a saying in my family.... it's: A Lainian woman may get old but her weapon never gets dull. Fitting, hmm?" ^_- Yes, but I remember a saying "A woman's weapon is merely a tool, her real weapon is her stinging wit" I think I'm a little underequipped tonight, then! ^^ I don't know.. you're doing fine as far as I can tell. I hope not to be your foe in conversation or battle.. * Feray waggles a finger, grinning playfully. "Don't worry...just don't slip spiders in my bed and we'll be fine." * Dylan raises an eyebrow, but says nothing What about stinkweed? Hey, I can handle that! But, ugh, spiders. *shudders dramatically* I'm not fond of them myself. Dill flaps away from them quite fast too.. * Feray laughs. "That Dill sure is a cutie....he and Erel get along well already..." ^^ It's odd. He's usually so shy.. maybe it's a sign.. his kind are much more in touch with the Spirits A sign that Erel is kind of touched? By the spirits, I mean? Hmm. Heh! Wouldn't that be a hoot. Her power with charms would seem to imply a certain amount of blessing from the spirits.. * Feray taps a finger on the table. "Or lots of training. I mean, not that I don't believe that the spirits give their blessings....but I don't know...I'll believe it when I have proof, basically." ^^ * Dylan shrugs slowly Perhaps it doesn't matter.. * Feray wiggles a bit in her seat and smiles brightly. "Dylan?" * Dylan smiles gently Yes? Cheer up. And stop calling me 'Ms.'....I'm not an old woman yet! ^^ My Apologies Feray, should I perhaps call you 'Little Feray' ? * Feray raises both eyebrows and jabs a finger at Dylan, her voice playful. "Do you want to be drinking from a straw for the rest of this journey? I wouldn't do it if I were you." ;) And you'd do it too, wouldn't you? Heh. Okay, Feray, but give me a break if I occasionally use the 'Ms.', my manners are more persistant than my memory Hmm....alright, I suppose I can let a few formal titles slide....words never killed anyone. ^_- Thanks. I wonder how far this job will take us... * Feray loses some of her cheer and yawns. "Mm. Hopefully not too far. I've not got too much intention to go halfway around the world..." Heh. If all goes well Justin'll just have been side-tracked. Though my adventurer's soul, much as I curse it, hopes otherwise Aw, it's never bad to have some adventure in you...it makes you more interesting than those boring old fogies back home that like to stay inside a lot and pour over stories... Well, by your command, Feray, I'll try to cheer up. I was just using tonight to mope.. I don't see myself getting the time to do it much, at least until we've finished the job. Gotta keep up a good show for the little ones, eh? * Feray chuckles and gazes at Dylan intensely for a moment, her silver eyes reflecting the fire burning in the fireplace...she then smiles and shakes her head. "Hey, well, I'm around if you need to talk." * Dylan claps Feray on the back Thanks! I should probably mooove to bed. * Dylan grins * Feray grunts a little and grins as well, leaning back to put her feet on the table, eyeing a young man at another table. "Okay. I'm going to stay around here for a bit...have a nice night, Dylan...hope you feel better..." ^^ * Dylan stands, but before he shuffles off upstairs.. "Do try not to wake Ms. Erellisae up. With the amount of energy she burns off, she's either clockwork or needs her sleep." * Feray blinks a bit and nods slightly, watching Dylan go. * Dylan sings quietly as he proceeds upstairs ~o I once tried to sail the stars, and taste the floating moon, I rode in a burning golden chariot, and held a silver spoon" * Feray leans back once more and blinks as the waitress plunks another mug of ale down in front of her. She looks up and notices the guy who caught her eye grinning at her. She grins slowly and nods back, raising the mug. ...cheers. ^_- ----- Interlude End-ohhhh! ------ *** Heather changes topic to 'Grandia: New Horizons | Chapter 3.5: A Taste of Midnight. | Location: Eiken Village, night, June 8. | Feray and Dylan Interlude Complete! ^^' Session Close: Sun Oct 21 05:41:45 2001
