Session Start: Tue Oct 23 21:04:42 2001 *** Amy changes topic to 'Grandia: New Horizons | Chapter 3.3: Erel and Rion, Together at Last =P | Location: Eiken Village, night, June 8. | Lude Begin!' ==Begin Lude== Not long after arriving in Eiken, the party has checked in and settled into their rooms. Erellisae has been outside admiring the scenery, but now it is beginning to grow chilly and the sun is low on the horizon. It is early summer, but in this mountain village, it is still rather cool, especially when one is wearing a thin dress. The warmth and light of the friendly, cozy inn beckons. * Erellisae shivers slightly, then looks up at Jalanda. "Miss Jalanda...? I'm gonna go inside." ^^; * Erellisae barely waits for an answer before hurrying off towards the inn's door. "See you later!", she calls back. :D * Jalanda remains in the same position as previously, looking out into the valleys as the sun sets a bit stoically. She starte to turn to answer, but Erel is soon quite a distance away. ^^; * Jalanda smiles once slightly, murmuring. "...to learn the ways of the wind, consult with those that ride it." She goes back to watching the sunset for a while longer. * Erellisae bundles herself into the inn, relaxing a little once inside and rubbing her hands, looking around. "Whew, that's better.." ^^ * Erellisae spots Rion, slumped slightly in a chair, and heads towards him with a slight air of sheepishness. "Hey, Rion..." * Rion looks up from polishing a shiny doodad.. * ..Yeah..? * Erellisae near-zips to an empty seat nearby, looking over at Rion with wide eyes and hands clasped together. "Couldya tell me about some of your adventures? Pleassse...?" ^_^ * Rion scratches his head.. * Well.. uh.. ^^; Uhm... * Rion sits there and thinks for a moment.. * Do you have any candy or popcorn or something for me to munch on while I impart to you some fantastic adventures? ^^ * Erellisae blinks, then checks her belongings, before looking down, her ears drooping a little. "Well... no..." Hmm.. rats. Well.. I'm not goin' anywhere anyhow, so I guess you'll just have to settle for a less exciting adventure. Like the time I saved Cafu Village and found the mysterious Hammer of Jardu. ^^; * Erellisae 's eyes widen merely at the names... although it's quite obvious she's never heard of them. ^^; "What happened...?" * Rion sits back in his chair, grinning.. * Well, as any Real Adventurer knows, Jardu was the First Smith of Angelou.. and it was he who laid the foundation for the Angelou civilizations fantastic buildings. But to do this, he needed some fantastical tools to start with. But he had none.. ..so he set out to gather what he needed, and to have the Spirits forge for him a mighty hammer so that he could start Angelou on the way to greatness. Anyhow, needless to say, Jardu got all the stuff, and his hammer was made. Infused with the Spark of Aisling, which enabled the building to start. And then, well, we all know what happened to Angelou, so Jardu's Hammer was lost... * Erellisae nodsnods, listening eagerly to Rion's tale, her ears perked up slightly. "And you found it again? Wow..." Anyhow, I was young, maybe 12, and I'd been an adventurer for a while, but not too long. And I'd been passing through, uh, Cafu when there was this huge commotion that I heard, so I ran to the source of the trouble! And in the clearing, which was just on the outside of Cafu, there was this old guy's house. And he was being visited by these other 3 guys who weren't very nice. * Erellisae hmphs, getting into the spirit of things. "Were they all mean?" These three guys wanted "It". Of course, later It turned out to be the hammer, but I didn't know at the time. ANd I guess the old guy didn't know what he had, because he handed It over to the three, even though they didn't want to. Mean as mean can be. With hearts as.. as.. black as coal.. and, and.. uh.. tiny beady eyes! Right shifty, they were! But I showed up on the scene, and then they said, "Hah, it's just some kid." * Rion sits up, getting excited himself. * And I said, I ain't no kid, I'm, uh, Rion Hollinger! 56th Ranked Adventurer in the New Parm Adventurer's Guild! And they laughed! Laughed! Well.. I didn't think that was very nice, so I drew my sword, and started towards them! * Erellisae hmphs. "Meanies...!", she mutters, accidentally summoning a couple of sparks in her hand before she yelps and drops them to harmlessly dissipate on the floor. "Uhm, sorry. Go on...!" ^^; Well, the really lippy one fled with the hammer and left his two flunkies to deal with me! * Erellisae leans forward a little, eyes wide. "Did you get hurt..?" :/ Well, it was then that I.. uh.. unleashed a flagon of supreme walloping upon their rear ends! And then the old guy was saved! And I didn't even have a scratch! 'Cept for the ones I got on my knees earlier when I was spelunking in the Cave of Liquid Diamond searching for the Ruins of the Temple of Graide. but that's another story.. * Erellisae 's eyes defocus slightly, her train of imagination evidently travelling sideways across about 5 tracks... "Woooooww....", she murmurs. ..anyhow.. I save the old guy, and he said "Please, please Mister Rion, please get the Hammer back! It's been in my family for generations!". And I said, "What did they want it for?", and he said "I dunno!" So, well, like any true and good adventurer, I said "Yep! I'll get your hammer!" * Erellisae blinks and pays attention again, nodding with a smile. ^_^ So I tracked the last man across most of the continent.. and then in.. in.. uh.. Oh yeah! I chased him until he was cornered! Trapped in the south by the sea and the Ancient's Wall! * Erellisae cheers. "Go Rion! Didja beat him up?" :D And then he tried to escape by climbing the wall, but I was hot on his heels! About halfway up we fought! And this guy was good! O_o Really good, and he knocked me off the wall! And I was falling! * Erellisae wideeyes. "Fighting halfway up a wall...? Oh no! What happened?!" But.. well.. a fall can't stop me! I didn't fall far before I.. I.. uh.. pulled out my grappling hook, and threw it towards the wall! And it caught on the ledge! And, well, the, uh.. fall was rather sudden, and hitting that wall kinda hurt, I suppose. But that didn't stop me! I kept on going up! I was gonna get that guy! * Erellisae listens raptly. "And did you..?" ^_^ And I met up with him again at the top, where the wall gets all funny. Any Real Adventurer knows what I'm talking about, with all the weird mechanical arms and things. Anyways.. he jumped off the other side! O_o O_O What'd you do? So, eager not to let him get away! I jumped after him... after all, what's plummeting towards the earth at rapid speed for an.. uh.. Adventurer. And because I was smaller, I caught up to him! And we fought in the air! The air! And down, down, down we fell as we fought! * Erellisae blinks. "Woooowww.. didja get him then?" But then! I got the better of him! And then I stole the hammer away just as we started to get really close to the ground! And fortunately... uh.. the plants, those big plants on the other side cushioned my fall! Wow! And you took the hammer all the way back...? Cool... So I was safe... and the black hearted, beady-eyed bad guy.. well.. there were no soft cushiony plants for him. ^^: So I had the hammer at last! But I didn't know what it truely was yet, and I was trapped on the other side of the wall.. in a strange new land that I'd never explored. * Erellisae 's ears droop a little. "Oh no... how'd you get back...?" And I would have many adventures there before I'd ever get back to this side. But that.. ..is another story, for another night. ^^ * Rion leans back in the chair, just exhausted from telling the tale. * * Erellisae watches Rion in slight awe, her eyes wide. "Wooooww... thanks a lot!" ^_^ No problem. ^^ Maybe next time you'll have candy or popcorn, right? ^^; * Erellisae nodsnods. "Definitely!" ^_^ She sits there a while, looking down and seemingly thinking on the story she's just been told. * Jalanda passes by the seated duo, apprently having arrive while Rion was raptly telling his tale. There's a bag in her hands, which she sets down on a short table. * Erellisae looks up again, brushing some hair away from her face and looking pensive. "H-hey... what did you mean this morning? About not following in their footsteps...?" ...why rely upon a next time? The moment is sometimes all one has. * Erellisae looks anxious, hands moving a little as she tries to think of the words. "I-I mean... they're /heroes/. Of course I'll become great if I follow in their footsteps... right...?" Well.. ya see, if you do something someone else has already done, you're not doin' anything new. You're not makin' any discoveries of you own. So, in order to be a hero yourself, you gotta go do your own heroic things. Bein' the first at somethin' is important. You gotta think bigger than the people who came before you. If the tallest mountain has been climbed? Well, then you gotta aim for the stars. * Jalanda catches her breath once, leaving the bag half open for Rion, a few wrappers peaking out of a local sugary delicacy.... ^^ * Erellisae looks confused. :/ "But... I mean... Justin and Feena saved the world... how can I think bigger than that...?" * Rion 's eyes trail over to the sweets. * Well, there's more to do than just savin' the world.. you could do.. things like.. give it.. sweets.. and.. ..stuff. * Erellisae blinksblinks, then sweatdrops. ^^; "Uhm... hungry...?" * Jalanda mouths quietly. "Justin and Feena saved the world, and changed it. It is no longer that which they saved.... it is waiting for a new tale to be made and told. You shall see those stars when this is over, I forsee it." She casts a glance as the present attracts Rion's attention. ^^ I'm not so sure I buy into the whole forseeing thing, Miss. But I do buy into bakery sweets. ^^;; * Erellisae looks a little thoughtful.. "So...the world changed? But everything's still the same.." * Jalanda smiles slightly. "Please, help yourself.... and why not tell us of your great journey to the Temple of Graide... I'm sure it must be fascinating." * Rion helps himself, biting into the delicious morsels and positively melting with happiness back into the chair.. * Ah, but if something stayed the same it would never progress... things have changed very, very much. * Erellisae perks up a little, smiling at the prospect of another tale, but her attention not entirely focused on the others. Well.. I wouldn't get back to the Temple of Graide, you see.. not for a long time. This was after the Hammer, thing, and I'd since gotten up to being #19 at the New Parm Adventurer's Guild. * Erellisae frowns a little, her ears drooping again... before she shakes her head, smiles, and pays attention to Rion again. ^^ And that wasn't too long ago, since this was the Adventure that got me to #4. And I'd hooked up with Morton "Golddigger" Wilvery and his crew. I was lucky to get on with them at the time, since he and his group were all around the #10 mark. But I guess that hammer thing did good for my reputation.. So we.. uh, set out for the temple again, back around Cafu. And they all remembered me there, so we got to stay for free n'stuff. This made Morton n' Cal n' Thorne n' Lisa right happy, which was good. ^^ * Erellisae looks off into space a little... "Wow... I wonder what rank I'll end up at..." It took along time ta finally get to the Temple.. and, well, the best you'll do is #2, 'cause I'm gonna be #1! ^^; And then we got to the temple, which was full of traps n'stuff! * Erellisae blinks again, wideeyed. "Like what..?" * Jalanda listens to the story unfold her eyes watching Rion as he speaks, though she motions to Erel slightly. "True experience cannot be measured so easily..." And, well, they were pretty bad traps. Big boulders, n' pendulum blades and spiky pits. Poison darts! You name it, this place had it! * Jalanda blinks once, looking mildly intrigued. "...I'm sure you were right at home, Mister Rion." * Erellisae nodsnods. "Sounds dangerous..." ^^; We had ta be really careful. But in the end, we, mostly me, 'cause I got keen eyes and a sense for this sorta thing, uh, finally found a great stash of Artifacts that we took back and improved all our ranks. But the true thing we came for.. ..the Shard of Jan Dathar.. was not there... ...someone had been here before us... We'd never find the shard, but we got enough fame from all that anyways after we came back. ^_^ ...I still haven't found the shard though.. but I will. It's only a matter of time for the soon-to-be #1 Adventurer in the New Parm Adventurer's Guild! * Erellisae mockhmphs, turning away a little and sticking her tongue out at Rion. "Not if I beat you to it!" * Jalanda folds her arms over her lap. "I'm sure there shall be room for you both..." As long as you're busy climbing other people's mountains, I think I'm safe from you on the billboards. ^^;; * Erellisae looks chastened, staring at the floor a little. "...sorry..." Well, at least I can try to show you the ropes. * Rion munches some more, appreciating the sugar influx. * * Erellisae looks up, nodding a little pensively and biting her lip. "Okay..." Do not despair Erellisae... though you shoot for the skies above, you must first traverse the ground below. And Rion has that knowledge... listen and take heart from his words. You shall experience great things. * Erellisae nods slowly, thinking... before stifling a yawn. >< She stands up and waves, speaking a little quietly. "I'm tired... goodnight Rion, Miss Jelanda, and thanks for the stories." ^^ * Rion grins. * No problem, chickie boo. o_O Hey! I have a name! * Erellisae flicks a small spark at Rion. "I'm Erellisae! Don't you forget!" :D Yeah.. but it's really long. Got a short version? Like Erel? Or, uh.. Lisa (no.. that's taken), or, uh, Sae? I don't have people goin' round callin' me Mister Hollinger. That's way too long too. * Erellisae hmphs. "It's shorter than 'chickie-boo'! But everyone calls me Erel anyway." ^_^ * Rion glances between Erel & Jalanda, grinning. * I dunno, Chickie-boo and Babe seem ta fit the bill, I think. I mean, I couldn't call you Babe.. then you'd be like Babe One, and Babe Two.. and that's not very creative.. or unique. You're your own special flower, or some silly thing. So that's why I called you Chickie-boo. Because it's unique? See? * Rion grins. * ^^; * Jalanda arises from her chair, bowing slightly and clutching her robe about herself. "...you may call me what you wish. But babe... is quite embellishing." But that is your way... it is only fitting. Good night, then, Rion... * Erellisae lobs another spark at Rion. "Hmph..! It sounds like a tease!" ;_; * Rion ducks.. * Well, maybe you could be Super Babe. Super Babe Osborne, or somethin'. ^^; * Jalanda shuffles away to her room, the mountain air in her bones a little more than she would like.... and elaving the two adventurers to their competitions. ^^ * Erellisae stifles another yawn, then turns away, sticking her tongue out at Rion. "I'll deal with you tomorrow! Got to get my sleep if I'm gonna beat you to #1!"
