Session Start: Sat Jun 01 20:54:11 2002 *** GMAmy changes topic to 'Grandia: New Horizons | Chapter 31.4: Nathan and Erellisae | Location: Tenkala, July 12, afternoon | Lude Start' Some distance away, on the beach to the west of Tenkala, Nathan is found lost in thought as Erellisae picks her way to the edge of the jungle in search of him.... * Nathan is standing hip-deep in the surf, looking out to sea * Erellisae emerges from the jungle a little, eying Nathan briefly before slowly walking forward. "...hey." ^^ * Nathan turns to look at Erel as she approaches, "Hey there sport! What brings you out here?" * Nathan starts walking back towards the beach * Erellisae wanders along the beach a little before sitting down on the sand, brushing her hair back a little as the wind picks up a tad. "Well, I thought I'd come and see how you're doing. I heard... something happened." Well, lots of things have happened. Care to be more specific? ;) * Erellisae raises an eyebrow, looking skeptically at Nathan with a you-know-exactly-what-I'm-talking-about look. "With sis." Ah, that * Nathan perches on a nearby rock to let him and his clothes drip-dry Well, I assume that she filled you in on what happened, right? * Erellisae draws up her knees slightly, staring off at the waves and nodding slightly. "...I, uh, got the jist of it." Well, I won't ask you what you two talked about. But I assume you came to see how I'm feeling about the whole thing. Or am I wrong? * Erellisae stares off into the distance, speaking gently, as if to herself. "She's upset... and she's scared. She doesn't want to die, and it scares her to de--... it scares her. Sometimes, it gets too much for her..." * Nathan watches Erel carefully before responding, "Hmm...now there's something I didn't quite expect." So, she is afraid after all * Erellisae smiles a little wanly, still watching the sea and not turning to Nathan. "And... when things get too much for us, when we're scared, we say things we don't mean... when something we never expected comes along, we get taken aback..." * Nathan stands up and looks back out over the ocean I admit that my approach and timing could have been a hell of a lot better Somehow I can't quite picture a worse way of handling the situation than what I did * Erellisae stands up slowly, shaking her head a little, and making a non-committal noise. "Well... to answer your question, I think you're /both/ wrong." * Nathan looks sidelong at Erel, "About what?" Feray shouldn't have said... that. But I think I've got her okay now. She's sorry, and I think I've convinced her we're not gonna let her... die. Now you just need to go back and sweep her off her feet! C'mon! :D * Erellisae looks rather triumphant at this last clause. ^^; * Erellisae returns to looking rather serious. "She needs to know we're here for her... right now, her being alone... that's a no-no, I think." * Nathan looks a Erel oddly, "Well of course we're not going to let her die. We never were going to allow it in the first place, right?" And what do you mean, 'Sweep her off her feet'? * Erellisae nods. "I know. But... you know... when I talked to her... that was the first time she's admitted she's been scared of dying. She'd always seemed... so confident before. She doesn't want to die. Not anymore." * Erellisae blinks. Blinks again. "... sweep her off her feet! Y'know, gifts, protecting her, being honorable and taking care of her! All that stuff!" :D * Nathan looks at Erel like she's from Mars So you want me to treat her like she can't take care of herself? * Erellisae blinks, and motions to the beach, grinning a little wryly. "C"mon, siddown. Maybe I can't teach you about love just yet but I have storybook romance knowledge down pat." ^^; * Nathan raises an eyebrow, but knows better than to argue a point he knows nothing about in the first place * Nathan sits * Erellisae hmms, wondering how to start this. "Okay... well, see... how to put this..." * Erellisae waggles her hands slightly as she thinks. "See... there's a line between being nice and thinking she can't take care of herself. I'm not saying to stick a bib on her and feed her chopped up toast or something..." ^^;; But... at the same time, if you stick up for her when she's in trouble, I'll bet she'll really appreciate it. ^^ * Nathan wrestles with that concept for a while At the same time, don't bury her beneath loads of gifts and stuff... but the odd, heartfelt gift is... nice. ^^ Heartfelt...? * Erellisae nods. "When you get the feeling to just... do something nice? Do something good? Call 'em the warm and fuzzy feelings." ^^ Hmm... * Erellisae makes a faintly exasperated noise. "It's not... something you can really tell. Just... going with the flow, I guess." ^^ * Nathan exhales, "That seems to be a problem for me as of late." But, I'm willing to try * Erellisae nods. "It's... not just gifts and stuff like that, either. It's... if she looks down, just rest a hand on her shoulder, reassure her you're there for her... stuff like that. 's hard to explain... and I'm probably not the best teacher right now, either." ^^; You're doing fine, besides, I don't think this is stuff you can just get out of a book or something ;) * Erellisae pauses, thinking of the vast collection of mushy romance books littering her mother's room back at home. "Uhm... maybe. ^^;" Just... don't always expect her to say something, either. It's... kinda traditional for the man to make the move. And also... well, I told you before. ^^; Tradition huh? That much I can understand easily So in other words, I have to show Feray that I love her, and that I'm courting her favor, right? * Erellisae waggles her hands slightly in thought again, before tracing her tattoo idly. "Wellllll... maybe not... quite so bluntly. ^^; Just... let it happen, at what pace it goes. It's more... natural that way." ^^; * Nathan thinks about that * Erellisae shrugs a little lopsidedly. "It's... hard to explain, I guess. I just... wanted to make sure you didn't stay mad. She didn't mean it." * Nathan grins at Erel I'm not mad at her. If anything I figured she'd be mad at me. Sure I was upset at first... * Nathan looks back out to sea, "...but then some things I had forgotten were explained to me." * Erellisae shakes her head, sweatdropping a little. "I think... she was more mad at herself than anything. That poor tree..." In the wrong place at the wrong time huh? * Erellisae sweatdrops. "Uh... something like that." ^^; * Nathan chuckles Well, it shows she's getting her strength back. I'm glad ^_^ * Erellisae remains a little silent at that, then smiles. "Yeah... I think so." ^^; Hmm...maybe I should go and talk to her soon * Erellisae nods, glaring without anger. "You better! Otherwise I'll howl you off this beach to go see her myself!" Whoo, yes ma'am ;) * Nathan chuckles * Erellisae smiles wanly. "'s all very good me cheering her up, but she needs to hear you're not mad at her, too." ^^ I never was, but I'd better tell her that, since it's bothering her that much * Nathan resumes looking back out to sea * Erellisae nods a little, then stands up with a stretch. "Mm... nice beach. Might sit around and practice... if sis reckons I'm good enough to fight I'm not gonna let her down." ^^ She's a good judge of character. If she says you're good enough, then she sees potential in you. You're a good friend Erellisae. Never let anyone tell you otherwise. :) * Erellisae smiles a little wanly, then grins, looking like her normal self. "Of course! If I wasn't a good friend, I shouldn't be a friend at all!" :D A good attitude to have ^_^ And Feray's going to need all the friendship and support we have. If she wants to live, then I say we fight for her right to. * Erellisae nods, fishing through her pack. "One of the reasons I suggested trying to find the Lumian village... she says she's searched all over for a cure. As far as I know no-one's really been there. Maybe they'll have something new or unusual." A good idea. Anyplace she hasn't looked at so far could have answers * Erellisae takes out the daggers, making a faintly annoyed sound. "Mmmph... gotta get some kinda belt for these... but yeah, that's what I thought." ^^ * Nathan grins at Erel, then heads back to town Well, he goes everything I got. Wish me luck :) * Erellisae nods.
