Session Start: Sat Jun 08 20:51:17 2002 ==Lude Start== The group looks on as Erellisae walks off with Emmitt, most of them seething, some clenching their fists or looking worried. Fidelio watches for a moment with a frown on his face, then hops off in another direction... * Erellisae is trailing just slightly, looking down at the ground with slightly clenched fists and uttering a shaky sigh before looking up at the man. "S-so... where are we going?" * Emmitt has his normal, handsome smirk on his face. His long ebony hair is loose now, giving him a rogueish look. He looks at Erel out of the corner of his eyes. "Worry not, lovely, I intend to show you a good time. Starting at the local eatery they have set up here. It's very nice. Very suiting of someone of your beauty." * Erellisae flinches slightly, clenching her fists tighter with a vague scowl before visibly willing herself to calm down, her posture straightening as she takes a deep breath. "... alright..." * Emmitt scans the distance for something, his gaze landing on a flower vendor. He gets a wide grin and jogs a little ahead of Erel, quickly purchasing a beautiful foreign lily. He casts Erel in amused look. "Honestly, you'd think I was poison." * Emmitt trots back and gently presses the lily into Erel's hands, smiling now. "I'm not as bad as you think I may be, you know." * Erellisae blinks and stops, somewhat taken aback, before she slowly accepts the lily, before sighing slightly with a rather wan smile. "... well... alright. I'm just a little on edge, to say the least." She tucks the lily behind an ear, making a faint attempt to smile, tinged with a worried expression. * Emmitt winks jovially and bows. "Worry not with me, lovely, you're in good hands!" * Emmitt twirls and points a little to the colorful eatery and trots towards it intently. ^^ * Erellisae sighs a little under her breath and follows after Emmitt, her brow furrowed but trying to keep a good face on things. ^^; * Emmitt grandly holds the door open for Erel, his handsome grin firmly in place. "You must tell me of all the things you've seen. Surely there's a story or three there to delight the local children." * Erellisae walks inside, sweatdropping lightly and still looking rather cautious. "Only really if they're interested in people getting chased out of towns or getting knocked unconscious..." --; * Emmitt chuckles and his hazel eyes warm as he scans the eatery, looking for a waitress to lead them to sit. "Well, all stories come from simple beginnings, like great people do. Sometimes the words just get...enhanced...to make it more wonderfully gripping." * Erellisae eyes Emmitt carefully as they wait. "Well, we could certainly have done without most of /our/ stories..." * A waitress scurries over, smiling cheerfully. Soft music filters through the place and there are assorted tables with colorful napkins and condiments of choice. Several people are eating already, engaged in happy conversation. The waitress flashes yet another perky smile at Emmitt. * Hello! Two of you? Right this way! * The waitress leads them to a remote table with a candle on it. She lights the candle, casting Erel a look of evaluation, before sitting them both and handing them menus. She scampers away quickly. * * Emmitt settles in, chuckling, and rests his arms on his menu. "Feel free to order what you wish. I've made quite a good living off my art." * Erellisae casts an eye over the menu, trying her hardest to be nice and not hide behind the menu, yet doing a little nonetheless. Without looking up, she mutters quietly, "... why did you leave Feray? To get more money elsewhere?" * Emmitt pauses for a moment, the warmth slightly fading in his eyes. He tilts his head, resting his chin in his palm as he gazes at Erel. "I'm a wandering bard. It's what I do. She wasn't the first, nor was she the last." * Erellisae clenches her fists tightly on the menu momentarily, before relaxing slightly and arching an eyebrow as she looks up at Emmitt, smiling a little wryly despite her mostly moody body language. "I'm the latest, then?" * Emmitt utters a soft chuckle. "Admittedly, you are very beautiful. And it does hold certain appeal to me that you're her sister...or so the tattooes state. I do enjoy goading her because she's very lovely when she's angry. But there's more to it than that, darling." I'm very, very intrigued by you. * Erellisae blinks, her expression taken aback. "... how come?" * Emmitt shrugs his shoulders slightly and casts Erel more warm look now, his grin back. "There's something alluring about you. And I wish to know how you came to be her sister, as you're obviously not of the same mother." * The waitress returns at this time and plunks down a bottle of wine and two glasses, popping the cork of the wine easily and pouring a little into the lovely glass. She leaves the bottle as she scurries off. * * Erellisae blinks, and pauses in thought before looking down at the table, her eyes lidded slightly with nostalgia. "I... wish I knew myself. I... I guess she sees something in me. I don't feel worthy of it. Not yet. But I'm gonna work to be." * Emmitt gazes at Erel steadily for a moment before reaching out across the table to touch one of her small hands, his touch very soft. "You're very brave." * Erellisae shakes her head slightly, making a faint half-hiccup as she works to keep a tear back, wiping at her eye with the other hand. "Not brave... how can I do anything else?" * Emmitt nods slightly and leans back, withdrawing his hand. He grabs his glass and takes a gingerly sip. "Well, you're brave enough to be here with me, knowing who I am and what I was to her. And considering she's dying right now as we dine and you're doing this to save her, I'd say you're braver than most." * Erellisae remains silent, in thought for a moment, before drawing her up and fixing Emmitt with a determined look, looking somehow older all of a sudden. "Of course I'm here. I have to save sis." * Emmitt grins wider at the look and waggles his glass at Erel. "Drink, lovely, and decide what you'll eat. If I'm to be in such company by only force, I'd prefer we at least sate our hungers....in one manner." * Erellisae eyes her wine with a child's vague suspicion of alcohol before taking a sip. "... isn't it tradition for the man to choose?" Ah ha! Touche. If you trust me to choose for you, then so be it! * Emmitt snaps his fingers in the air and the waitress comes scurrying over. He idly casts her a rakish grin. "Two red wine baked calicurs with side helpings of ter." The waitress nods, jotting it down, blushing...she scampers off quickly. * Erellisae nods slightly, taking a second sip then putting her glass down, watching the waitress silently a moment before turning back to Emmitt. "So... how did you get this far out on the Great Sea?" That, my dear, is a little foggy in my mind. But as far as I can tell, I was sailing this way and became...well, stuck. As you can well imagine, I panicked and ended up wrecking my ship. Luckily natives of this island found me. I don't know the details of how I came to survive... * Emmitt winks. "Though I'm glad I did, to be in the company of such an angel." * Erellisae falls silent in thought, sipping at her wine then looking up at Emmitt again with a very faint blush. "... did you see any other islands around? Populated ones?" * Emmitt furrows his brow, swirling his wine in his glass before downing the rest of it. He considers Erel carefully. "I'm afraid not, lovely, I haven't been far from this place since then. Is there something you wish to know of?" * Erellisae falls silent for a moment, before shrugging slightly with a faintly dejected sigh. "We-- I'm on the look-out for an island in the region. Something important to me's apparently there." Ahh...I see....well--- 6* The waitress returns, cutting him off as she places the wonderful smelling food in front of them both. The dish is a chicken-y sort of thing with a zingy red sauce and curled veggies on the side...all exotic seeming. She smiles and scampers off again! * * Emmitt pauses and eyes the dish in amusement. "As I was saying. I do hope you find it." * Erellisae offers another wan smile, with a faintly wistful breath, before picking up her cutlery and eying the food in front of her. "So do I, believe me." * Emmitt rubs his chin a moment before pouring himself another glass of wine. He is silent a moment and then fixes Erel firmly with a cool look. "You know....I could go back on my word." * Erellisae stares down at her plate, not looking up as she digs into her food. "If you did, I'd follow you to the ends of the earth and lobotomize you with magic." She cuts off a forkful, and looks up with a smile on her face. "Besides, I choose to trust you for now, so it's okay." ^_^ * Emmitt utters a laugh and waggles his glass once more at Erel. "Mmm. Yes, I think I see the fire in you that Feray most likely saw." * Erellisae grins faintly, looking more Erel-like than she has throughout. "I hope I make her proud of me, is all." * Emmitt gets a wistful look suddenly and begins to cut his food.....he speaks quietly, his bravado gone. "She was very beautiful when I first saw her. So innocent as well. Not quite like the woman you knew, I suppose." * Erellisae giggles faintly, shaking her head slightly as she cuts food up. "She's still innocent at times. Just about different things, I expect." * Emmitt chuckles to himself and starts to eat, pausing in between bites to speak. "She was one of my favorites. All fire and innocence. It's really quite a shame..." * Erellisae eyes Emmitt, taking a bite of her food rather archly. "You have no-one to blame but yourself, remember." * Emmitt chews for a moment before grinning. "Oh, I know. I wasn't lamenting the loss of a lover...but I do hold appreciation for the women I'm with, you know. It's not just a matter of getting what I want. Feray was something special, indeed." * Erellisae lapses into a vague silence, staring at her food. "... is. She /is/ someth--someone special." Much like you, I suppose, beautiful. * Emmitt looks amused at that and takes a hearty drink of his wine, gazing at Erel intently. * Erellisae shakes her head, still looking at her food. "I'm not... much like her, I think. I'm not confident. I'm not strong. A monster can take me down in a hit..." * Emmitt raises a fine eyebrow. "You don't see it, then. The resemblence. You have more of a innocence about you, much like she had when I met her. But just the way you speak, the intelligence in your gaze, the softness of your heart...it's all like her." * Erellisae smiles a little, looking up. "I ... guess. We've only known each other for so long. I guess it's why we got so close." * Emmitt quirks a grin at Erel now, his bravado coming back. "You have a beautiful smile, you know. It must melt the hearts of many men." * Erellisae chuckles in a rather self-deprecating manner. "Maybe. If I didn't end up being too nervous to speak my mind." ^^; * Emmitt idly finishes off his meal and drains the last of his wine, resting his chin in a palm. "That will come with age. Besides, when I speak of betraying you and not giving you the cure, you're not afraid to speak up then." * Erellisae looks up, her mouth working open and closed a little as she blinks, searching for a reply. "... the... difference between fear and anger, I guess. I get... angry sometimes." ^^; * Emmitt laughs heartily at that and leans over the table, running his fingers along her cheek briefly before sitting back, not allowing the girl to bite them off. "It's quite a shame..." * Erellisae blinks twice, near-freezing up, before relaxing with slightly clenched fists. "... what is?" * Emmitt chuckles, his gaze roaming over Erel before he speaks, his tone cool once more. "That she'll steal your innocence just as much as I did for her. Already, it seems, she began to." * Erellisae watches Emmitt in silence for a moment, a faint glare on her face, before shaking her head, staring into the wine pooled in her glass, her voice low. "... let me tell you something." * Erellisae looks up, her eyes hard but not glaring. "About two months ago I got off at Parm from a steamer I'd stowed away on. I had no money, I knew no-one. I thought adventures were happy, sunny things that came along and whisked you away to a place of light." * Emmitt raises an eyebrow at that, watching every flinch and curve of Erel's features. I knew barely any magic, I certainly was no good at fighting. I didn't know my way around, and I didn't know what to do when the /only/ lead I had on an 'adventure' dried up in front of my eyes. And knowing what I do know, with me being that innocent, if I hadn't met Feray, met everyone... * Erellisae is glaring now, but more inwards at herself than an Emmitt. "I'd have died, or at least given up, within days. I don't blame anyone for 'taking away my innocence', and certainly not Feray. Everyone has to grow up sometime. Sometimes they have to grow up fast." * Emmitt's gaze sparks, darkening a little. A peculiar smile curves his lips and he stands, suddenly. He looks down at Erel, not even seeming to have heard her words. "If you're done with your meal, lovely....we should move on." * Erellisae blinks at the sudden change, taken aback, before nodding slightly. "Alright..." * Emmitt winks at the smaller girl and turns, meeting the waitress as she comes back. He slips her some money before offering Erel a hand up. * Erellisae smiles a little wryly, taking the hand and standing up herself. "... thank you." * Emmitt winks and then begins to lead Erellisae outside. "A pleasure that is gladly mine, lovely. I wish for you to answer me a question as we walk.." * Erellisae looks aside at Emmitt as they walk, her voice wary. "... yes?" * Emmitt stares straight ahead as he trots towards a small building, his tone silky. "What will you do if she does die? Did she ever mention anything of it to you, what she would want you to do?" * Erellisae slows suddenly in thought, her voice quiet with wonder as she looks at the ground. "I... don't know. Keep travelling, I guess... finish the job we're on, work to be worthy... go back to Leck..." * Emmitt turns slightly to gaze at Erel, his hazel eyes unreadable. "To Leck?" * Erellisae nods slowly, looking up. "I'd... have to tell Triun. Tell her everything that happened..." * Emmitt's lips quirk slightly before he nods, turning to gaze at the building as they stride up to it. He opens it easily, swinging the door wide. "Noble of you. I'm sure Feray would approve. However..." * Erellisae hangs back, looking a little reluctant before stepping up to the door. "... however?" * Emmitt turns to gaze at Erel, reaching out to cup her chin and draw her close. He peers down at her... "What if you stayed here?" * Erellisae flinches back a little, her eyes starting to blaze slightly. "... with you?" * Emmitt tilts his head. "With me." * Erellisae's eyes are definitely blazing now as she moves back, bumping against the doorframe to glare at Emmitt, her tattoos glowing very faintly in the sun. "... why would I stay with the person who'd be responsible for my sister's death? Why would I leave everyone wondering if we were okay?" * Emmitt doesn't seem fearful of Erel, though for the first time something breaks in his cockiness, anger flitting across his face. "I am -not- responsible for her dying." * Erellisae looks down at the floor, her eyes clouded as she shakes, holding back tears. "... ...If you don't give me the antidote she'll be dead in a day..." * Emmitt stares at Erel for a moment before shaking his head, amazement coloring his tone, the anger creeping away. "....you really care about her." * Erellisae looks up, a tear streaking down her face to be wiped away by a hand as she smiles genuinely - if sadly - for the first time. "Of course. She's my sister." * Emmitt opens his mouth, for once lacking a reply. He closes it again quickly and turns, backing off from Erel to head inside. There is a sound of something shattering and shuffling around, as if he's searching for something. *muffled* Damnit, where is...where...hmm...bloody....ah! * Erellisae slumps back against the doorframe, hope crossing her features but tears still lacing her features as she wipes at her eyes, trying not to cry. * Emmitt emerges after a moment, holding a black vial. * Emmitt eyes Erel wordlessly for a moment, clutching the vial. * Erellisae looks up at Emmitt. While she's not sobbing, her tears remain flowing unabated. Nonetheless, she does her best to pull herself up to her full height. Do you want this, then? Her 'cure'? * Erellisae sobs slightly, nodding as she does. "... you know I do..." * Emmitt says nothing and reaches out with his free hand, tugging Erel close enough so she can see something in his gaze just fleetingly. Loneliness? He dips his head down and kisses her gently. * Erellisae tenses up, sobbing once more as Emmitt kisses her, making no move to break away but no move to return the kiss, her fists clenching slightly as she screws her eyes shut. * Emmitt breaks the kiss almost violently and Erel suddenly feels the vial pressed against her waist as he backs off. "You...really are beautiful, you know. I wasn't just saying that. ......now go. Save her." * Emmitt slumps against the doorframe, watching Erel blankly. * Erellisae looks down with a gasp in her hands, then up at Emmitt, her gaze unreadable as she watches him silently before she nods decisively, turning and speeding for the healers as fast as she can. * Emmitt swallows softly, before murmuring. "...very special indeed." * Emmitt shakes his head hard and turns, heading into his home and closing the door firmly. ==Lude End== Session Close: Sat Jun 08 22:56:43 2002
