Fidelio hops around with annoying cheerfulness while Kethis smiles in a strangely grim manner. * Dylan picks at his food idly, staring off into the distance alot.. * Nathan leans against the railing, having finished breakfast already, staring up at the sky * Jake looks from side to side and sprinkles something from one of his pouches at his belt on his eggs. o O (Needs salt... hmm.. pepper... ..Crushed basil...) * Erellisae picks at her food fitfully, her hair nearly landing in it as her head droops slightly. She looks half-asleep. * Mitsuo eats his food quietly, lost in thought. Fidelio eyes Erellisae. "Ey, Erel. You a sleepy bunny, no?" * Jalanda doesn't touch her food very much, considering she is still quite full from Jake's bountiful feast the night previous. * Jake looks over at Fidelio. o O (Did he just call her a bunny? He's worse than me.) * Jake waves good-naturedly. * Feray is nowhere to be seen...for now. Bwahahaha! * Mikari stuffs down an extra hunk of bread, eating a bit more than usual this morning. * Erellisae makes a faint 'nnh' noise and looks up suddenly, rubbing her eyes a little. "Ugh... s-sorry..." ^^; Kethis.. [Fidelio] It is okay, no? ^_^ You must be a little-a nervous. Kethis looks up. "Yes, Dylan?" * Mikari pauses from drinking from her cup to look up at Dylan, waiting for him to speak. * Jalanda has a cup of her trademark tea, glancing at Dylan here and there, like she is debating something with herself. Any idea what'll happen when the harp is.. charged? Are we likely to still need to.. ermm.. subdue the Angler? * Erellisae rubs her forehead slightly, brushing some out of her face. "Just a little too much to think on is all." ^^; Kethis nods. "One must play the harp in order to render it weak long enough to attack it. What will happen then, I am not sure." Hrmm. It wouldn't hurt for me to do some warm-up excerises then.. I'll be on deck.. * Nathan takes a deep breath, trying to prepare himself for the day's events Kethis nods. * Dylan gets up and walks up on deck, stretching.. * Mitsuo finishes his breakfast, and is still lost in thought. It's not angsty thought, however...well, at least he doesn't LOOK angsty. * Jalanda exhales slowly. "I'm afraid any auguries I would make about today's outcome are in vain. All that we can do is face it, prepared for all outcomes." * Erellisae manages to finish her food, before eying the table owlishly. "... any idea how near we are to the fish?" Yo, Nate? Hm? Fidelio thinks. "It is perhaps around that bend of shoreline..." Think you're ready for it? I'd better be, I'm only getting one try at this There is a splash and a thump outside. But the hymn is yet incomplete... *eyes the Telys resting on the table* * Mitsuo blinks, "...what the...?" * Erellisae nods vaguely, looking out of a porthole. "Still a way, huh...? Good." She lays her head on the table, closing her eyes. ^^; * Dylan blinks at the thump.. What the? The door opens, and Sho-raoo stands there, leaning against the doorframe with his arms crossed and a rather impatient look on his face. * Nathan eyes Sho-raoo, but says nothing * Mikari swallows the bite she was taking and washes it down with a drink, then sets her food down to lean towards Sho-raoo expectantly. Sho-raoo raises a questioning eyebrow at Mikari * Feray idly drops down suddenly behind Sho-raoo with a soft thunk. She reaches out and idly /gooses/ him. Hrm....still not quite firm and ripe. ^_- Sho-raoo's eyes widen and he whirls about, barely biting back a yell, then glares at Feray, seething with rage. * Jalanda secures the instrument with practiced care, glancing in the direction of Mikari somewhat... though for an entirely different reason than the mer. Er...heh. ^^; * Erellisae snores faintly, murmuring under her breath and turning slightly. * Feray smiles sweetly, looking a picture of innocence. She wags her hand floppishly in a sloppy 'hi', nudges past Sho idly, and drops into a seat near the sleeping Erellisae. ... * Feray raises an eyebrow. * Feray leans forth and cups a hand to Erel's long ear, whispering into it. * Dylan sighs.. * Jake looks around at everyone's faces, not sure how to react to this person. * Mitsuo raises an eyebrow at Feray. ^^; * Mikari looks at Jalanda, giving her an expression which would come across as angry, except she isn't really. Mikari nods forcefully in the direction of Cassidy as though nobody is looking, to redirect Jalanda to her. ...Nn? *nervous fretting noise* * Nathan smiles a bit at Feray's antics, and leaves it at that Sho-raoo growls under his breath. * Cassidy looks back. * What'd I do? ^^; Going back to your querry Dylan, I'm as ready as I think I'll ever be * Jalanda lingers a moment, then extends her gaze to Cassidy instead, still holding the harp towards her. * Erellisae mutters and shifts in her sleep once more as Feray whispers, before her eyes BOLT open and she skitters backward, pinwheeling off her chair onto the floor. A-aahh! * Feray grins widely and leans back. Fidelio blinks. ...good morning, littlebit. ^_- Oh no.. that thing won't do me any good. It'd probably just undo whatever you've all done to it. Hrmm. Looks like there might be a bit of punch up with the fish, even after the harp has worked it's magic.. want a quick warm up, Nate? * Cassidy folds her arms across her chest. * Besides, I don't sing. Sure, why not? ^_^ * Erellisae glares up at Feray owlishly for a moment, before rubbing her eyes and glancing around at everyone from her rather undignified perch. "... uh... hi." Let's go over towards the aft deck. There's more room there Good point. Fists or weapons? * Feray's lips quirk a bit wider and she struggles not to laugh, leaning over and offering Erel a hand up. "Tired?" * Jalanda lowers her eyes. "You are set in your course, as always... if that is your wish, fight in other ways." Let's go with fists, no sense injuring each other before the real scrap Good morning, Erel. Um...sleep well? ^^; * Mitsuo rubs the back of his head a bit. * Dylan cracks his knuckles. "Good point, lead on, my good chap." * Erellisae accepts the hand, pulling herself back to her sleep and smiling at Mitsuo after throwing a glance Feray's way. "Not so good, but well enough I guess... right up until a certain someone started whispering..." ^^;; * Cassidy looks satisfied with that response, and ponders what to do, since she thinks she's quite tanned enough. * * Nathan stretches a bit, and then slides into a combat posture and attacks! * Jalanda refocuses on Mikari, then passes her, and seems to be holding the harp towards Sho-raoo. "You are troubled, perhaps this could be turned to strength." * Feray attempts to look lovable and innocent as she reaches out to snag a tiny piece of bacon-ish meat strip. She gnaws on it, ripping it apart idly. Sho-raoo's eyes widen, and he glances at Nathan's retreating back, then back at the harp, as if it's going to bite him. * Dylan quickly drops into a defensive pose, frantically deflecting Nate's blows.. Y'gonna give it a go r'not, Cass? 'Else maybe we might get some fish lullabies. ^_- * Nathan continues to press the attack, trying to give Dylan a good workout this time * Cassidy shakes her head. * Nah. If your little ditties aren't enough for when we square off against this thing, then I'll just have to pull out the big guns, that's all. * Jalanda bows to the merman, his look speaking volumes. She again faces Mikari. * Mikari shakes her head a little and gives Cassidy a mildly frustrated look. * Feray's ear twitches at the sound of the fighting and she pauses idly, muscles twitching under her skin as she quietly longs to join in. ^^; * Dylan catches Nate's hand, and tugs on it, giving him time to shift to a more aggressive position.. * Nathan draws away, not wanting to get grabbed and put at a disadvantage Hrm.... (m) sweaty merflesh.. * Feray blinks and grimaces, taking a hearty bite on her bacon. * Cassidy stretches and yawns, reconsidering the tan issue.. * * Jalanda steps from her seat to stand fully, retracting the Telys. She begins walking to the deck. "If you need more time, then allow me." * Mikari pretends not to notice Jalanda, as there is sufficient entertainment going on as to easily be an excuse for distraction. ^_^ * Nathan circles Dylan a bit, seeking a weak spot in his oppoent's defenses * Erellisae , leaning her head on a hand on the table, yawns slightly before staring off into the distance. * Feray eyes Erel a little and then looks at Mitsuo. * Jalanda stops at a spot not far from the scuffle, which catches her eye a moment, before she sets on her course. She begins playing a variation of the slow melody from before upon the strings of the harp. * Mitsuo blinks a little at Feray. * Feray nods her head a bit towards Erel, shooting him a look as if to say 'is she upset? and why are you not giving her snuggles if she is?'. * Jalanda begins singing, first in a bit of a rasp, but one that becomes clear and sure, drifting on the wind. You are here, alone again, in your sweet insanity... All too calm, you hide yourself from reality. Do you call it solitude? Do you call it liberty? When all the world turns away to leave you lonely... The fields are filled with desires... all voices crying for freedom. But all in vain, they will fade away.. for there is only you to answer you... forever... In blinded light, you are singing... a glorious hallelujah. The distant flutter of angel... They're al too far, to far to reach for you. * Jalanda closes her eyes, strumming a few flowing chords. I am here alone again, in my sweet serenity... hoping you will ever find me in any place. "Far away, to eternity." * Jalanda remains staring up to the sky, ending her song with the heavenward gaze. Fidelio nods appreciatively from the stairs, where he is half concealed in the doorway, listening to the music. * Jake has long since inished eating, cleaned up, and has busied himself with his duties. * Feray's ear flicks repeatedly as it catches the notes of Jal's singing and she shakes her head, reaching out to grab Erel by the shoulders with one arm. ....cheer up, you. Or else... I will...tickle you...to death! ^_- * Feray raises her other hand threateningly. * Mikari sits back, enjoying watching Jalanda do something a little bit more tangible than her usual other-worldliness. * Mitsuo looks and Erel, and scoots a little closer. ^^: * Dylan is meanwhile oblivious to the seer's singing, attempting to fend off a skillfull merman's attacks! Eeep! * Nathan resumes his attack again, having let up a bit during Jalanda's song * Mitsuo grins just slightly at Erel. Just slightly. ^_- * Jalanda lowers her head, cowl slipping off of it slightly, then turns to face the ship's captain. She pauses, then offers him a faint smile, extending the harp towards him. "Whatever I say, it is just another link in the great chain... please." * Cassidy is conspiciously absent.. * * Erellisae blinks, and peers up at Feray, waving a hand and sweatdropping slightly. "I'm fine! I'm fine! Just trying to figure out how to convinve everyone to let me hijack this ship and play Follow-The-Liete." ^^; Is that a frown? We know what we do when there's a frown in town. * Feray casts Mitsuo a grin at that and releases Erel's shoulders. * Erellisae blinks, then looks fearful, leaning back a bit and holding her hands up at Feray and Nathan. "R-really! I don't need tickling!" ...Oh but I think you do! ^_- Ohhh, she definitely does. ;) * Mitsuo reaches out and begins to...tickle! ^^ * Feray also begins to tickle! Fidelio nods and looks around for anyone remaining who needs to sing * Mikari watches the two beastmen continue their brawling. Y'know, Dylan, nothin' complements a fight like a nice serenade, eh? ^_- * Nathan accelerates his attacks, trying to press qhat advantages he may have * Erellisae /gyacks/ and goes pinwheeling backwards off her chair again, rolling back a little. o_@ * Dylan gyacks and slips while trying to dodge a punch, falling flat on his back! ....we're so getting you a seatbelt. ;) * Erellisae waves a finger groggily. "And maybe stop the sea moving around so much too?" ^^; Fidelio looks at Mikari, then gestures to the harp. * Dill nuzzles Jal's cheek from his usual hiding place. * Feray stops her tickling onslaught and reaches out to pat Mitsuo on the shoulder idly, nodding. She stands and grins. "I'm powerful and mighty, but I'm not THAT powerful and mighty." I'll be outside if you antisocials wanna join ;) * Feray turns and heads for the deck ;) Yes ma'am. ^_- * Nathan stops, and helps Dyla back up You OK? * Dylan gasps Ah... y-y-*cough* es.. 'us a 'ittle bi' win.. ed.. * Feray blinks and strides over to Nate and Dylan, arching an eyebrow as she surveys the two. "Damnit, Nate, what'd I tell you about breaking the Lainians?" * Nathan chuckles * Erellisae gets to her feet, a hand on the wall, and smiles a little sheepishly at Mitsuo. "We better get going to deck too... we'll probably be coming up on the fish soon." ^^; Easier.. to break me.. than you, I think.. Ma'am.. * Mikari grins, this time making it obvious that she is less concerned with taking her turn than she is making sure she gets the 'finale.' * Feray winks and pats her rock hard stomach. "Because I eat my veggies! And small villages. And whatever I can lay my hands on." * Jalanda stays in her spot even when relieved from her burden for the moment, looking towards Dylan's scuffle as she hears the thud, then away, back to the ocean. She doesn't face Dill, but comments into the empty air, "Perhaps I've been wrong." * Mitsuo nods, "Yeah...I know. But soon, hopefully, we can rest a little easier. :)" It takes more than a slip to break a Lanian yanno ;) Tell that to my grandmother....rest her nagging soul. ^_- * Dylan rubs his butt, grimacing.. I'll be alright.. was that Mik singing? Hm? Mikari? No, Jal just sang. She's got a pretty nice voice. I think Mikari is due up, though... * Dylan sweatdrops.. I missed Ms. Jalanda's song? * Erellisae nods, then opens the door for Mitsuo. "And then we head for the Lumian island... in spits and spots, anyhow." ^^; * Mitsuo nods. ^^; * Mitsuo heads outside, "Thanks. :)" Uh, sorta, Dylan. More like it was'n overture for your fight. Kinda like a ballet, or someth8in'. * Erellisae follows Mitsuo up to deck, rubbing at her eyes. Even so... *sigh* I wasn't in a good state to listen... and I like hearing her sing.. * Feray idly sticks close to Nate, crossing her arms over her chest. * Dylan just possibly... blushes.. slightly. For a moment. * Jalanda turns from her ocean gaze as Dylan speaks. * Nathan raises an eyebrow, but says nothing * Mikari turns to Jalanda and crosses her arms. "So, ya want me t'sing, eh? Now don't 'xpect no sappy ballads, cuz I don't know any..." Fight hard for the future, and it shall be filled with choirs that shall make this nothing but a mere whisper. Sing a dirty ballad, Mikari! Somethin' like 'at, anyway. * Feray grins wider at the prospect of something she can hum along to. * Dylan laughs at Feray's comments, and goes to stand next to Jal. * Mitsuo stands next to Erel, waiting for Mikari to sing. Hopefully she'll do something cool, like rhumba or headbang. * Erellisae rubs her eyes, waiting for that nice bracing sea air everyone talks about to wake her up already. ^^; * Mikari proceeds to wake Erel up, but in a different manner. She stands up, and sets her drink down heavily on the table, and swaggers over to the center of the table, slamming her heel down onto Dylan's empty chair. The silence drowns everything else out, as though Mikari were being preluded by a distortion guitar solo. * Jalanda looks down a bit as Dylan stands next to her, fixing her hood that had slid from earlier, and listens to Mikari's verse. * Mikari starts in, singing with a heavy, grinding voice that shakes one's backbone. * Nathan leans against the rail, stretching again after the workout I drink alone. Yeaaaahh, with nobody else! * Mikari leans in and repeats the line. I drink alone. Yeaaaahh, with nobody else! It's Sho... *pause, working her tongue around it* Shor-aoo's turn! * Jalanda applauds lightly, though something behind her eyes shows sadness. 'Ey, Shoey, yer next. ^_~ *Mikari raises her drink to Sho-raoo, and grins, but only until she is clapped on the back by a big Lainian.* ...Oof! Well done, Ms. Mikari. Is that the harp charged then? Sho-raoo gives Feray a death glare and growls again. * Erellisae eyes Mitsuo. "You do too! When you had that drinking session on the fish-flinging island you even tried to come onto me! O_o" * Erellisae coughs and chokes. o_O;; "H-he's not!" * Nathan represses a smirk * Feray eyes the two before grinning again, turning to give Nate and Kethis a thumbs up. Let's go! Lead the way my good man ^_^ * Erellisae shakes her head slightly, then nods. "Let's fry a fish!" * Dylan claps his hands briskly. "C'mon, playtime's over. Armour on, weapons out, and don't forget to wash your hands!" Kethis looks the group over. "Well, are you ready?" He points out the the shore, where the land curves around. "Beyond that bend is where the creature waits. I think so Yes, let's go. * Feray cracks her knuckles loudly and grins. "Oh sure. This is nothing compared to coming back from the dead! Let's kick this thing!" Fidelio goes over to the longboat and prepares to lower it so they can head after the fish. Stay spread out guys, we don't know what kind of tricks are left up it's sleeves.. * Nathan helps people into the longboat It might be best to draw it out onto the shore. We can't swim as well as it.. * Erellisae nods faintly, her tattoos glowing faintly as she glares. * Jalanda remains silent, her steps towards the boat methodical. * Mitsuo heads into the longboat, his expression very serious. * Feray loses some of her bravado as she hops into the longboat, sitting and rubbing her tattooed arm in a barely disguised nervous tic. * Nathan sits down in the longboat and takes a few deep breaths Eh, yeah, I'd rather not rely on merman smacks... fun as it is in the water * Erellisae hops down into the longboat, sitting between Feray and Mitsuo. * Dylan gets in the boat, hmmming. * Cassidy appears on deck, leaning over the side and examining the longboat. * You're gonna fight it from that thing? Sho-raoo dives into the water, disappearing beneath the surface. No, but do you intend to jump to shore? [Kethis] I would suggest luring it to shore, myself. * Mikari speaks normally, but her face bears some concern as she looks out across the water, seeming to try to assess where the danger lies. * Jalanda calms her breathing. .o( I mustn't be torn like this, in such a critical moment. ) How're we gonna "lure" it? Somethin' tells me bait 'n' tackle isn't gonna work on this one... Live bait will work That's about it * Feray blinks a bit, realizing Erel is sqooshed near her, and arches an eyebrow. "I say we use Spud! A little bit of twine, some polish..." * Erellisae nods, hmming. "Why not just lure it with anger? Want me to grab it's attention when we get close, a fireball or two?" * Mikari blinks, then looks around for Spud. Maybe something flashy. * Spud lowers itself onto Feray's hair, still wearing a wineskin at a jaunty angle as it beeps worriedly. Hmm... how far can ya fling a fireball, Erel? The Angler only knows hunger. Nothing else Our strong fates and life force, should be lure enough. * Feray blinks and grins, reaching up to touch the wineskin. "Ah. There you are. Still wearing your hat, huh?" Dylan speaks true. * Feray blinks a bit. * Erellisae grins. "D'no. Not tested myself before. I guess we'll haveta see!" So we need live bait? Nate has a point, if this thing ONLY knows hunger, it won't work to pound it with fireballs. I say the strongest go and lure it to you. * Spud hops up and down slightly, beeping twice and making a forlorn whine when it's wineskin beret falls off. ;_; I say we stand on the shore and call it funny names until it shows up. * Feray blinks and snorts, catching the wineskin. We could do that too. * Mitsuo hmms, thinking, then looks to Kethis. . o O ( Won't work if he's here. ) Well... . o O ( Back to square one... ) * Erellisae eyes Spud, hmming faintly. I guess... Spud doesn't have a soul to take right now... ^^; In that case, will it go for Spud, then? Uh... even if Feray was jokin', she had a point 'bout Spud. Usin' somethin' that isn't alive would be best if nothin' else... Kethis eyes the group. "Can you handle this on your own? If so, I will wait here for your return." I say that Ms. Feray should flirt with it, it's got fins.. It seeks to consume pure spirit energy. Actually, yes, I think we can handle it. * Feray blinks and scowls at that, backing her ears. <> * Mitsuo looks like he has an idea of sorts. And yeah, can it tell what's alive an' what ain't? * Cassidy gives Kethis the thumbs up. * Way to be brave, bud. * Erellisae blinks at Mitsuo. "What's the plan?" * Mitsuo whispers something in Erel's ear. * Mikari nods to Kethis as well in appreciation. * Feray mutters lowly, something about cow meat catching the biggest fish. Hmm. Who's going to play the harp, or are we going to toss it around mid-battle? * Spud spins in mid-air then sits on Erellisae's head, looking smug that it doesn't have to go near the fish. ^_^ * Dylan rolls his eyes, accepting the punishment for his remark. * Erellisae hmms and looks worriedly at Mitsuo, nodding faintly. "I guess you're right... just be careful, okay?" * Nathan sits quietly as the debate rages around him Kethis eyes Cassidy. Looking at him, it is obvious that the man was born to play music, not fight. :P He is rather stick thin, and aging, to boot. * Mitsuo hehs, "...That's if I can do it at all. I've had a bad track record." * Feray eyes Mitsuo. * Jalanda slides one eye to study Mitsuo as he plans, then speaks. "If I may, I would like custody of the Telys. perhaps I may project it's energies most directly." * Cassidy flashes her champion grin. * ^^ * Erellisae smiles. "You'll be fine! We must take our places upon the stage soon." * Nathan watches Mitsuo with interest Care to fill us in, Mitsuo? * Feray arches an eyebrow, her mind figuring out quickly what's about to happen. * Mikari eyes Dylan. "Heh. Cannery. How 'bout we call ourselves that." Shh...Just bein' the bait, is all. Get ready...it'll come quickly if this works. * Feray idly tugs out her spear... * Mikari puts on her sharkhide gloves in preparation. * Mitsuo concentrates harder. * Nathan prepares for battle * Erellisae kneels in the bottom of the boat, watching the horizon. (m) Heeeeeeeeeeere fishy, fishy, fishy... * Mikari eyes Mitsuo carefully, with a slight frown, mostly one of anticipatory caution. Fidelio lowers the boat. It splashes gently into the water, and as they start rowing toward shore, a dolphin head peeks above the water and follows alongside. . o O ( Oh c'mon spirits...I know I'm not exactly trained for this, but I don't want Erel to be the bait...and I'm certianly not gonna toss anyone overboard...Please help me... ) Mitsuo waits expectantly, and then, suddenly.....! Again. * Erellisae tenses faintly, her tattoos brighening slightly as she glares a little harder. Hrmph, its coming * Jalanda quivers a second, as her hand rests across the strings of the Telys. She is tense, as the aura of the anti-spirit begins to pluck at the edge of her awareness. * Cassidy draws out her blade.. * * Feray glances at Nate and grips her spear, ready to fling it... ...Maybe we won't have t'lure it with bait... 'lright... * Mitsuo feels the air begin to cool, and straightens. * Mikari loosens her oversized hunting knife from its sheath and puts it in her teeth as she tightens her belt, in case swimming is necessary. Just around the bend, they see a huge shadow in the water... That's it Here it comes... The consuming one... * Erellisae glares at the shadow, starting to pull her hands back. * Dylan starts to row for shore a bit faster Bah. Consume this, oversized trout. The longboat drifts toward shore, finally running aground in the sandy shallows of the beach. The shadow comes closer, sensing life nearby. * Mikari takes the knife out of her teeth and brandishes it, taking a battle-ready stance. Sho-raoo walks out of the water alongside the boat, then stands with his back against a tree on the beach, watching and waiting. * Jalanda speaks shallowly, "Be cautious. To engage it before it is softened is inviting oblivion." * Dylan climbs out, holding the boat steady so the others can get out. * Feray hops out of the boat, tugging it further up... * Nathan jumps out of the boat and takes a defensive posture on the shore * Erellisae hops ashore, heading towards the grassline of the beach, away from the water. "Can't do much at close range..." * Mitsuo jumps out of the boat, drawing his rings and watching the shadow. * Mikari steps out of the boat slowly and quietly, then backs up halfway to the nearby treeline. * Feray glances at Erellisae at that and grants herself a proud smirk. A huge head rears out of the water some distance from shore...apparently as close as it can get without coming further out of the water. * Jalanda steps onto the sandy shore, one of her eyes twitching as she looks at the shadow arise at her back. * Nathan hisses ...(m) Now would be a good time to play the harp... * Dill winghugs Jal, puffing quietly. * Cassidy stands out in the open. * Hey you ugly-ass fish! Remember me? C'mon! Come get me! * Feray twirls her spear around her body and shifts into a ready stance.... "Jal...now?" * Cassidy flips the monstrosity the bird. * * Feray pauses and sweatdrops at Cass. * Dylan plants his staff in the sand, unlikely to need it for the start of the battle.. * Erellisae's tattoos shift to an azure blue as she takes a step back, biting her lip. "I won't lose..." * Mikari is uncharacteristically stoic now. Apparently not used to fighting something so freakin' big. * Jalanda nods, turning to face it. "I have been saving the final verse for you... listen to the hymn of the stars, lost kin." (The Angler looks at the party in a deadpan fashion, its eyes cold and empty) * Jalanda begins playing the familair song from the ship from the Tyls, echoing into the still air. * Cassidy shouts out! * Come and get it! Don't make me moon you, you sorry excuse for a carp! Shh! Cass! Let the woman play the harp! ~tempra la centra e canta... ill inno di morte~ ~a noi si schiude il ciel... volano.. all raggio!~ The creature turns its eyes on Cassidy, but makes no response beyond a ghostly breathing. It starts to drift closer, rearing its head higher out of the water. As Jalanda plays, its fluid movement becomes jerky, and the breathing comes faster. * Jalanda raises her tone to a level almost unheard of from the frail seer, like she is commanding more than the music itself, but a greater force. (The Angler exhales once, and the sand before it immediately bleaches and goes cold, as it moves towards the party with a more dreadful intention) (m) Is it...working? * Mikari mutters to herself... Okay... okay... 'sgonna work... * Feray takes a step towards Jalanda, her grip on her spear tightening....ready to protect the woman at all costs. The Angler suddenly begins to glow strange colors. An eerie purplish-yellow light shimmers on its scales, causing mild nausea if anyone looks for too long... We have to fight that.. good thing I didn't eat too much.. * Mikari blinks heavily and begins shading her eyes periodically, looking around as she gets ready to attack this horrendous thing. ~La vite dell'amore... dilette del cor mio... o felice, tu anima mia...~ * Mitsuo turns away, feeling his stomach lurch slightly. (As it approaches, the horn that protrudes from its head begins to emit a smoky vapor, and now its breathing can be heard. Slow, methodical, and thick with an immensity that befits its size) * Erellisae blinks, grimacing and taking another step back. "... w-watch out! It'll send out these things like waves..." The Angler shudders violently, and flickering colors of light radiate off of it. It shudders again. The third convulsion, and it rears back as ~something~ comes rushing out from it! O_o * Jalanda continues. ~canta addagio, canta... a dio~ * Nathan gets ready! It is a small point of purplish-yellow light, pulsating nauseously and darting about erratically. That's it! That's the Gaia taint? * Jalanda closes her eyes, shivering. "The... true spirit... comes..." Whoa! O_o The thing darts closer, zooming about wildly. It narrowly misses Mitsuo, and he feels a chill rush through him as energy drains out of him. We have to subdue it! Quickly! * Feray stands protectively in front of Jal, narrowing her eyes... * Erellisae takes a step back, ready to (try to) dodge, watching Mitsuo worriedly. * Mitsuo blinks, and sways a little, "I...Uhnn.." * Dylan grabs his staff, and prepares to baseball bat it if it passes! * Jalanda tries to keep playing, as if the music is helping her steady herself in the face of this, pain showing in her movements, jerky, but the song continues. * Mikari jumps back reflexively, her eyes flitting around wildly searching for an responsive option... As the thing darts away, Mitsuo feels some of his energy return, but for a moment his vision began to go black and he felt light-headed... The anti-Spirit darts close to Mikari, and her head starts to ache and feel dizzy! * Mitsuo manges to pull himself to his feet, "C'mon! We've gotta stop it..." * Feray bares her teeth in a growl.. she throws her spear at it! * Mikari squints with one eye and brings her unarmed hand to her forehead to knead away the pain as she tries to gain some distance from it... ...Damn... if it can do that without even touchin' us... * Erellisae tries to keep a bead on the thing, concentrating on her spell. "'s a bit of a small target... but we can /do/ this..." The spear flies through the anti-Spirit, not even seeming to harm it! O_o * Nathan waits for the spirit to get close, then leaps at it! Nathan! ....Wha... Nate?? * Nathan roars at the anti-spirit, and actually manages to drive it to the ground with his voice alone, and then proceeds to get into a staring contest with it * Cassidy considers her possible courses of action, all the while remaining wary and alert.. * The spirit seems to vibrate as Nathan leaps on it! It darts about, trying to escape. Its touch on Nathan's flesh feels cold, and he feels the warmth and life draining away from his arms! Nathan! * Jalanda strains, and then begins to glow ever so slightly with an oddly similar aura to the flying spirit as she stutters in her concerto. "...Nathan!" Nathan, get away from it! * Feray's determination breaks slightly and she takes a few steps away from Jal, unsure of what to do.. * Nathan continues to stare at it, focusing all his will on the sickening thing Nathan feels lightheaded as the thing fights him. His head starts to pound, and he feels as if something is trying to tear him in two. * Erellisae dithers faintly, unsure what to do, her spell wavering as the power grounds up and down her arms. Meanwhile, the Angler begins to thrash in the water! * Mitsuo's gaze snaps to the Angler, "...Uh, we forgot about him..." Its eyes take on a crazed, confused look, and it darts toward shore with a speed that belies its immensity! What are you (rgh) waiting for! Get the....Angler! * Mikari stops in her tracks, looking bewildered at Nathan's course of action. Wha... watch out! Right-ho, chap! Stop RIGHT THERE! ... O_o Whoah, Nathan did SOMEthing.... let's get 'im!! >> Battle begin! Boss battle: The Great Angler! * Jalanda stares at the anti-spirit with a rising animosity, then extends her hand in it's direction. "Go.. kill the body quickly..!" * Dylan charges the Angler, intent on stopping it reaching Jal or Nate. * Nathan continues his silent battle of wills while the rest of the party fights * Feray swears softly and gazes at Nate worriedly...she shakes her head slowly, turning her gaze onto the angler's body.. * Mitsuo shakes his head, and turns his gaze to the Angler. * Erellisae starts to run to one side, concentrating on her spell as she skirts the grassline to get away from the Angler's path. * Mikari regains her composure and returns to her more confident battle stance, holding her knife outstretched menacingly *shink!* as she pads quickly down the beach. * Cassidy wastes no time, and immediately commences an assault upon the monsterous husk of the Angler. * >> Jalanda's declaration. * Jalanda seems as if she's adding her force to Nate's in a battle of will with her single outstretched palm. But the other with the harp, mysteriously rises, an eye flitting to the group in front of the Angler, as it takes on a silvery hue. Prepares a special attack on Jalanda! >> Mitsuo's declaration. * Jalanda tilts her head towards the dark spectre, refocusing her attention upon the other conflict. She utters a low syllable, as a small distortion appears near the spirit to further aid Nathan's movements at blockading it from the body. * Mitsuo balls his right hand into a fist, a red etheral mist begins to seep from it. >> Dylan's declaration. * Jalanda sweats slightly, quickly looking over her shoulder to the Angler as it pins it's sights first upon herself. * Dylan cracks his knuckles, and winds up for a punch! No time to lose! Fall before me! >> Dylan's action! * Dylan chrages the Angler! And slams a pair of mighty blows against it's face! Ha-ha! Take this! Her tone is mirthful. She asks for penance... * Feray lunges forth. Casts Zap on Cassidy....67 damage! Cassidy is down! Cass! * Feray rubs her head and slowly picks herself up, just in time to see Cassidy get felled. "Aw, crap..." * Jalanda quivers, eyes widening slightly. "Nathan, To correct the past's mistake... you must stand fast! "Oh, damn it all..." * Feray gazes over at Nate, grimacing.. "Hang on....sailor! C'mon, can't you wrestle a damn...bubble? I thought you were the man in the relationship!" >> Jalanda's action! Alheal... * Jalanda gestures outward, the motion accompanied by a deep mist that washes over the party, their light wounds beginning to mend and fade in its wake. >> Jalanda casts Alheal. All party members regain 76 HP! * Dylan staggers slowly to his feet, gripping his staff in two hands firmly.. "Back to the stick, it seems.." * Feray takes a deep breath, feeling the pain disappear inside and nodding to Jal as she straightens.. >> Mikari's action! * Mikari all of a sudden takes a deep breath, and somehow the battlefield falls dead silent for a brief moment... breaking the silence, she exhales quickly and shouts out the incantation, the words bursting from her mouth as violently as the flames that are now erupting from her hands, which encircle her foes and consume them indiscriminantly!! ...Nice...an' crisp. >> Mikari casts Burnflame! 23 damage! * Nathan gives out animal-like cry, and releases a fiery gout of white energy from an opened claw at the anti-spirit, forcing it back down to the ground again! Yeah! Kick...that-that thing's ass! C'mon! ^^; >> Great Angler is defeated! Gained 100 EXP, 75 G! * Jalanda nods once sadly to Cassidy, unable to make it in time. She turns back to the anti-spirit, a trail of vague purple energies seeping from her body in several place to the spell building in intesity front of her. * Dylan staggers over to Nathan.. What... do we do with that? * Feray exhales in relief and twirls her daggers once before sheathing them.. Yes! All right! * Nathan keels over onto one side, utterly spent from his efforts The Angler takes a particularly large fireball to the head and flops over in the water, unconscious. * Dylan eeeps and reaches out for the sparkly! * Erellisae blinks, before staggering backwards with a breath, shuddering as the anger drains out of her. ! Nathan! Nathan... * Feray rushes forth to Nate's side, checking for a pulse. * Mikari blows her finger in a very cliche` manner, then walks up to where the dead giant Angler lies to mime spitting on it. She then walks back to the prone Cassidy and shakes her head. * Mitsuo heads over to Nathan's side, hand already glowing blue with healing energy. Nathan is still struggling with the anti-Spirit, his face ashen. Approaching him, the others feel a wave of cold wash over them. * Jalanda stumbles, dizzy from the effort she is exerting, and takes steps forward towards the anti-spirit... The closer they come, the harder it is to move... Ngh... * Mitsuo looks to Feray, "We gotta help him..." C...cold....so....c...cold... Trying....rrr.. * Mikari turns her head as Feray rushes towards Nathan. "...Nate...? Ya okay?..." C'mon Nate. Gimme the spirit, I'll hold it. * Mitsuo puts all of his effort into it, taking tiny steps foward. * Feray attempts to -force- herself foward, her gaze riveted on Nate... * Erellisae tries to hurry across with the others before being pushed back. She pushes at the barrier, her tattoos glowing faintly with what little magic she has left. * Mikari rushes over along with the others and leans down, her hands on her knees. * Dylan pushes himself foward, snarling with effort.. Nathan is apparently using all the energy in his body to hold the anti-Spirit. As he stares at it, sweating and panting, he sees a glint of green in the sand... ...c'mon......c'mon...let me in you stupid piece of... * Nathan reaches for the gleam, almost instinctively * Jalanda continues to press forward. The cold does not phase her. "Nathan, make the new prison..." * Feray begins to get exceedingly frustrated. * Mitsuo continues to try and step forward, beginning to look ill. Warmth seeps into his hand as he grasps the stone. As Nathan brings it closer to the anti-Spirit, the thing starts to fight his control even more wildly. Blackness closes in on the edges of Nathan's vision, as the ball of sickly light is pulled toward the greenish stone... * Nathan's warform gives up the ghost, and dissolves around him and he grabs the stone, holding it out towards the anti-spirit * Mikari frowns with concern, but knows that this is a situation in which she can't help... G...give it up y...you lit...tle p...purple bastard! * Erellisae 'punches' against the barrier, magic grounding from her tattoos down her wrists. "Gnnh... c'mon, Nathan... don't you dare give up!... if you get Feray to admit to being in a relationship then die the same day I'm /so/ going to kick your ass..." The anti-Spirit lets out a soundless wail that jars the entire group, making their heads ache. It is slowly absorbed into the stone. A moment later, the stone lies still in Nathan's hand, pulsing faintly. The others feel the barrier drop. * Nathan starts laughing weakly * Jalanda eyes alight with a spark as she sees this, then with a jerk she releases her built up dimensional energies into the ground and falls to her knees. * Mitsuo suddenly crumples to his knees, making a nice 'squish' sound on the wet sand. * Cassidy seems oblivious to the jarring wail.. * * Feray idly goes pinwheeling forward and lands face first in the sand near to Nate. X_x .....ffuuhhwoohhffk. * Feray spits out sand. * Erellisae staggers backwards, then falls to the beach next to Mitsuo, clutching her forehead with a hand. "U-ugh..." * Nathan rolls over onto his back, not up for much else, still laughing quietly ...I think I'm gonna hurl now kay? Kay...X_x Sho-raoo approaches slowly from further up the beach, a strange look on his face. It's done...it's really over...hehehe! I... I... * Mikari sighs and shakes her head, then tries to make her way to Feray and Nathan. * Feray blinks tiredly up at Nate... "What're you LAUGHING at, you loon?" * Erellisae eeps, and pushes Mitsuo's head not too unkindly away from her. "Over there over there...!" * Dill flies around Jal's head, looking worried. * Mikari rolls her eyes and extends an arm out to Feray. * Mitsuo falls facefirst into the sand! O_o * Jalanda simply stares at the pulsing stone. ...Ooghmmm. * Dylan kneels next to Jal, half out of dizziness, half of concern... Sho-raoo just stands there staring, looking from Nathan to the stone to the group. I don't know...I can't help it...hehehe! Are you.. okay?.. or.. hrmm.. will you be..? * Feray snorts softly and waves the hand away.. ".....oh great, another one is crazy now." Ow...I feel like crap...and I'm cold * Erellisae giggles faintly, catching the mood, before helping Mitsuo back up to at least some vague form of sitting. "We did it... see?! I told you we'd do fine!" * Mikari snorts at Feray and puts her hands on her hips. "Well, y'welcome too." :P * Mitsuo grins, and heads over to Nathan, his hand once again glowing blue, "You did great, Nate." * Jalanda closes her eyes, pulling a pale hand to clutch her chest. * Feray just decides to lie in the sand, because it seems much easier than moving. ^^; * Mitsuo notes that one of his eyeglass lenses is completely covered with sand. He does not give a flying floo-floo. It's my shadow. A reflection in the spirit stone. Why...? * Mikari lets out a sigh. "Yeah, we did. Too bad we don't get a nice filet outta catchin' this thing." * Erellisae heads over to Feray on her hands and knees and smiles down at her... before flopping down next to her. "Hwaaaah..." Cassidy stirs... Is everybody else OK? I saw Cassidy go down at one point * Mitsuo bends down and gently casts heal on Nathan, so he can at least move. ^^; Calm down.. you've been through something.. overwhelming.. answers will come to you once you've rested.. * Feray blinks tiredly at Erel and snorts softly.. "So....we're just going to lie here?" Because, really, that sounds fine to me. ;) * Cassidy sits up, holding her head, and muttering to herself.. * Ugh.. That's quite a relief.... * Jalanda stares at the stone, hearing the voice in her ears. "The fitful sleep is over." * Dylan holds out a waterskin. "You've done fine so far, whatever it is. Mistakes can be fixed or atoned for. Have a drink, it'll clear your head." * Erellisae smiles wanly, getting slowly to her feet. "We'll get you patched up... ... uh... hi... big fish-guy...?" ^^; If we do.. I am so, so kicking his ass.. -_-; Great Angler> Nay...I bear you no malice. You have done me a great kindness, one that I shall not forget. * Cassidy slowly gets to her feet.. * Sho-raoo just stares at the Angler, then slowly goes on one knee and bows his head. * Mikari nods silently. * Mitsuo gets to his feet as well, "You weren't in control. We're just glad we could help you." Great Angler> I must go now. FOr I have left much sorrow and hurt in my wake, and must deal with the outcome of my actions. There is much for me to do...yes. A handful of blue Spirits begin to appear from the surface of the water and float lazily around the Angler... * Feray blinks tiredly.. I understand. Please have a safe journey... Great Angler> Farewell little ones. May the blessings of all free folks go with you. May the stars shine upon your faces. The sun has returned, and its touch is warm. ^^ * Mitsuo smiles, "Farewell..." (The Great Angler turns and quietly slips into the water again) Sigh... 'Certainly hope he was th'last one 'ffected by 'at damn Gaia... * Jalanda coughs a few times, accepting Dylan's offer, she turns her head to look upon the Angler, giving it a final, respectful nod. "Go in peace, great one." * Mikari nods along with Jalanda and waves, albeit somewhat halfheartedly. ...Okay I'm really tired. * Nathan seems to have fallen asleep Think I'm gonna have meself a sit down. * Mitsuo flops on his back Sho-raoo slowly gets to his feet, then turns to Nathan hesitantly. Aaah that's nice... ...we can just...stay a while.. * Erellisae takes a deep breath, then releases it slowly. "We did it... man... save Feray's life, recover ancient artifact, and subdue merman god all in one town..." o_@ He blinks, seeing Nathan is unconscious. * Cassidy flops back too. * Good plan.. * Erellisae looks tiiiired, and flops next to Mitsuo o_@ Sho-raoo shrugs and murmurs something in the mer language, then turns to Feray. The spirit stone.. was a kind of prison for Gaia once.. It's understandable for it's children to seal away Gaia's.. I suppose.. * Feray snorts softly at Erel's words and eyes Sho curiously. * Mikari nods to Erel. "Heh. Yeah. More 'an I can say ever happened in m'own, I know." [Sho-raoo] I...owe you an apology. * Mitsuo looks over to Erel, and grins, "We did it...I think this calls for a party." What for, exactly? * Mikari looks around the beach. [Sho-raoo] I underestimated you. Together, you, your friends, and Nea'eth did what thousands of merfolk could not. He is silent for a moment. Hmm. Bonfire, mebbe? ^_~ * Mikari turns to Sho-raoo. * Feray casts Mikari a sideways glance and gives her a thumbs up at THAT idea! * Erellisae looks blearily over at Mitsuo. "... party... yeah. That's good. Sleep first though." * Jalanda sips from the skin carefully, none of her usual self-sacrifical protests coming forth this time. Sho-raoo blinks at Mikari. Pft...forget it, Sho-raoo....no apology needed. Sho-raoo bows slightly. * Mikari grins sidelong at Feray, but then continues to approach Sho-raoo. "Nathan helped. S'not like we were alone. You guys just needed more'n yerself t'finish the job." Yeah...sleep is good. Whoo, sleep. If you'd asked us a month ago, we would have said we couldn't do it either. ^-^ Sho-raoo nods. "I must go and deliver news of this to my people. Will you...give Nea'eth a message for me when he wakes?" * Feray nods a bit. * Erellisae nods slowly, shuffling over to Mitsuo. "C'mere, pillow." Erellisae proceeds to grab Mitsuo's arm and lean on it. "Mmm. Good pillow." With every step westard, we grow stronger. But we have much to go before we are ready to be welcomed by Alent. * Mitsuo smiles tiredly, and hugs Erel to him, then falls asleep. ^^ Hell, let's look around... we've got two Lainians, an Icarian, 'Lumian... and more. If just one of us races ran the show, it'd bite. [Sho-raoo] Tell him...the merfolk will hear of what he has done today. While I cannot pretend to understand the reasons he betrayed his people, today he has done them the greatest honor possible. I'll make sure Na....Nea'eth gets the message.... * Mikari nods. Perhaps.. this means he can return home.. someday? [Sho-raoo] While I cannot speak for the elders, I know that to me, what he has done today cancels out a hundred betrayals. * Erellisae sits up suddenly, letting go of Mitsuo's arm to look between Jalanda and Mikari. "... look, I... now that we've saved the town..." * Feray smiles a little at that and exhales tiredly.. "He'll like that...thank you." Sho-raoo nods, bows slightly to the party, then trots down to the water and dives in. A few moments later, a dolphin surfaces, then heads off toward the east. * Feray gazes at the sleeping Nathan and gently squeezes his hand...she releases it to sit up... ...so. Mikari. Bonfire? ^_- * Jalanda nods respectfully to the departing merman, holding her place in the sand as Erel looks her way. * Mikari nods in approval as Sho-Raoo leaves... and then quickly transfers her nod to Feray as she makes her suggestion. ^_^ 'Lright... Just bring me some tinder; I'll get it burnin' nice'n pretty. ;) * Erellisae pauses in thought, then shakes her head. "Nevermind. It... it can wait." * Feray yawns tiredly and forces herself to her feet.. "Alright..." I still have legs and arms, and I think they work.. shall row to the ship? Perhaps Jake can cook? * Nathan sleeps quite peacefully in the sand, still smiling * Mitsuo snoozes. ^_^ Nah, Dylan, we'll stay here for a bit. Let's rest. * Dylan rubs his stomach ruefully.. Got any of that beef jerky left? * Feray trots past the others, heading for some tinder...she pauses by Erel to ruffle the rather rumpled blonde mop of hair gently. "You know it, Dylan. I'll look about for some prey." See if I can get us something. ^^ * Feray smooths the blonde hair back some and then trots off with a tired wave of her hand. ^^ * Jalanda nods to Erellisae. "For once, I agree with that proposal. There are... other things... I need to consider." Heh, don't think I was gonna make ya get it while I sit around 'ere, Feray. *Mikari runs up beside her.* * Dylan lays out his thick travel cloak as a blanket on the sand. * Erellisae grins faintly, then looks down with a sigh at Mitsuo, smiling faintly... and going back to sleep on his arm --; "zzz..." Ms. Jalanda.. you've had a hard day, sleep for now, and Dill will snatch the nightmares from the air. ^-^ Pu-Puf! * Jalanda rattles Dylan's waterskin once trying to find her random thoughts, then offers it back to him, and lays back, exhausted.
