The past day or so has been spent relaxing, helping a bit as the villagers return to Shoretown... The various members of the group are scattered throughout the town. The ship drifts gently, anchored some distance from shore, and Fidelio and Jake are both in town for a bit of relaxation. * Nathan rests in a chair on the porch of the inn, his feet kicked up on the railing, dozing quietly. Most of his bruises are now gone, save for a still-impressive purple blotch around his eye * Erellisae has been spending most of the day looking after the village kids and keeping them from underfoot while the others help out. She's sitting on a bench near the town centre, watching Spud act out a very unfair game of Tag with the kids. Tag's rather harder when 'it' can fly. * Feray is still helping with repairs, carrying very large and somewhat dangerous stone slabs and building materials back and forth. Feray Lupris - Pack Mule! But she seems cheerful enough to do it, despite the pain it's inflicting on her shoulders. * Mitsuo seems nowhere to be found... * Jake goes off and purchaces a few things for himself, loitering around stores visited by those old women who always knit and various food vendors. * Mikari is in her room, working on a continuing line of selfmade rope, put together using natural materials - a sort of secondary hobby of hers. * Cassidy is off doing Cassidy things, away from the prying eyes of the world. * * Feray idly stumbles a bit as she now gets two medium sized slabs of stone on her shoulders, much to the grimaces of her fellow workers. She staggers towards another building with it slowly.. Fidelio putters around behind the counter in the local tavern, showing the locals how to make some of his favorite drinks, both alcoholic and non. * Spud beeps triumphantly as it swoops out the way of another child's arms, before buzzing right into the rather fatigued-looking Erellisae's face and beeping loudly and insistently. * Erellisae sighs faintly, shaking her head slightly. "I know, Spud, I know. Don't /worry/, I'm not going to fall asleep..." ^^; * Dylan is on break from manual labour, snathing a snooze in the shade, handkerchief over his face. * Feray drops the supplies down to where they're needed and stretches, several large pops audible as her spine readjusts itself. "Ugh..." * Jalanda walks through the town towards the site of the repairs, balancing a tray carefully. Upon it sit several drinks, most notably iced tea, which she has been seen handing out to the workers on occasion... * Spud nudges Erellisae twice, starting to push her off the bench with a determined whirr. * Nathan opens an eye at Feray, and looks at her dissaprovingly * Feray blinks tiredly as she notices Jalanda approaching, brightening just a bit...she rubs some dirt from her face with the back of her hand, only smudging it more... "Jal! My hero-mystic-type woman!" Fidelio mixes up a tray of cold drinks and hops out to find his shipmates. * Erellisae watches the little automaton with a faintly despairing air. "... alright, alright... I get it, I'll go take a walk and recover, alright? Just try not to let them beat you up too much." ^^; * Feray blinks and notices Nate idly shooting her a 'look'. She backs her ears. "What?" ^^; * Erellisae stands up and starts to amble her way around town, rubbing at her eyes a little. * Mikari finishes winding up her length of rope, and decides to head outside, since not much is happening at the inn. It's not really good for you to be carrying things like that. You're putting all your weight on your lower back yanno * Jalanda bows her head, extending the tray to Feray. "You must be quite parched in this sun." * Jake sneaks out from a fruisy spice store with some dried apricot-like things which he fits into one of his leather belt-pouches and bumps into a member of the group. * Spud does a small loop-the-loop once and makes a whistle of approval, just in time to get leapt on by a young girl, who shouts "Gotcha!". A cheer of approval comes up from the children as Erellisae heads off. * Feray brightens further and grabs a drink, giving Jal a wink of approval. "Thanks, girl." Fidelio nudges up under Jalanda's elbow, holding out his own tray with a mischievous grin. He winks at the seer. * Dylan wakes up as the sun has moved such as to ruin his shade, knots the corners of his hanky, and puts it on his head before strolling out to look at how the work is going.. * Feray takes a swig and turns her attention back to Nate... "Well, there's nobody else strong enough..." [Fidelio] A bit of-a competition in the cool refreshment business. ^_~ And it'd take them hours to do it with a cart or so. ^^; * Nathan raises an eyebrow * Jalanda looks down at Fidelio, flashing a small smile. "It was only a matter of time, I suppose." Jake bumps into Fidelio, who promptly spills half the tray! * Nathan kicks off the rail and onto his feet, walking over towards Feray and her resting cargo * Dylan strolls in on the group of familiar faces, waving.. * Feray takes another hearty gulp of her drink, uttering a happy noise. She blinks as she notices Nathan approaching, her eyebrow raising. Greetings, Ladies, Gentlemen, and Clutzes. * Jalanda blinks, drawing back from the immenent flood of refreshments. ^^ * Feray casts Dylan a sassy grin and wink. Fidelio blinks, righting himself, and stares with dismay at the mess. He shrugs and hands Jake one of the unspilled drinks. * Erellisae walks closer, stifling a yawn before waving a finger with a grin. "Give sis a backrub, Nate! Early birthday present and all!" * Feray chokes in mid-drink as Erellisae mentions her birthday. And the backrub. * Nathan kneels down in front of one of stone blocks with his back to it, grabbing it with his hands. With a quick hoist-and-swing, he has it up and resting on his entire back. He stands more upright, still gripping the stone rather tightly Are those drinks free, Ms. Jalanda? *turns to Erel* How early a present? * Feray then freezes, staring at Nathan. Uh. * Jake gladly accepts the drink shyly, having been the cause of the mess. * Feray swallows the mouthful. "You're supposed to be resting." So, where am I taking this? ;) Nowhere! Put it down! * Jalanda casts Fidelio an apologetic look about the accident, then kindly offers it to Dylan. "But of course." * Erellisae grins toothily. "Not sure I'm allowed to say, but not long enough to be urgent. I just thought I'd come terrorize people." * Mikari walks up to the group, getting a good glimpse of the klutziness and smirking slightly. She looks around at the group, greeted only by the sight of Feray staring at Nathan. "Need any help 'ere?..." * Feray buries her face in her hand. ^^; Fidelio hands one of the remaining drinks to Mikari. [Fidelio] Here, mia bella...with a bit of-a kick to it, too! * Nathan shrugs, and gently puts the stone down again with a dull thud * Dylan grins, and takes the drink. "Many thanks, Lady Seer. I hope you're feeling well after our recent struggle?" * Feray reaches out to gently swipe two of Fidelio's drinks...she offers one to Nate and then one to Erel. Hey Mik ...troublemakers. Here, drink. ;) * Nathan accepts one of the drinks with a nod * Mikari takes the drink, holds it up to the light, and inspects it. "Eh? What's 'is?" * Erellisae makes a happy sigh and takes the drink. "Aah, thanks... never thought a bunch of kids would tire /me/ out..." ^^; I see that you were somewhat careless while I was gone. Looking a litle red there, hmm? * Feray winks at Nate and reaches down, grabbing the stone...she hefts it in an imitation of Nathan's move. ;) She arches an eyebrow at Nate as she sucks in a breath. "Mm...that....is better. And it's...a healthy red!" [Fidelio] A Mogay secret! Made from a variety of-a delicious fruits, with desert spices and a bit of the most-a wonderful rum around. Healthy huh? ;) * Jake sits with his drink, inspecting it. ...Hmm. it's very good. I would say so. Though I believe the others are pushing themselves a bit too hard to make up for it... *half-jokingly* Fidelio beams at Jake. * Feray grins a little tiny bit in reply and then grunts. "Littlebit, shush on the birthday thing. Nobody needs to know I'm becomin' an old lady." Well, without exploring unknowns, fighting evil monsters, and doing the impossible.. they just get restless, I guess. * Nathan sips at the drink non-challantly * Jalanda looks towards the ground, and bends down a bit, picking up some of Fidelio's spilled glasses. Aha. That last bit gotcha a point, bunnyboy. * Feray begins off again, breaking free of the group to stagger her way back to the construction area without warning. "Be right..back." * Mikari takes a big swig, holds it in her mouth a moment to taste, then swallows with an "Ahhh." * Jake nods to himself, toying with a peice of hair in his line of vision. His vision catches one of the lovely ladies of the group and he casts a fetching grin. * Erellisae eyes the drink suspiciously. "... rum? Well... guess there's a first time to try everything...", she says, taking an experimental gulp and making a surprised smile. "Mmm. 's good...", she grins, then nods to Feray. "'k." ^^; * Nathan shakes his head, "She's gonna wreck herself doing that." * Mikari amuses herself by watching the others banter as she finishes her swig. Old lady, Miss Feray? Please don't say that, I'd guess you're younger than I.. ^^;;; Speaking of things with both smoothness and body, hel-lo. >;) It is refreshing to worry about the little things, if only for a short time. Fidelio shakes a finger at Jake with a small smile. * Feray utters a grunt at Dylan as she passes but keeps going, eventually reaching the construction area and dumping the stone in the spot where directed. She recieves a hearty clap on the back from one of the bigger male villagers. ^^; * Erellisae nudges Nathan. "Tell me about it... but she looked so happy to be helping out. I guess it's like working in Leck again." She blinks around. "Hey, where's Mitsuo? Wasn't he helping out earlier?" Erellisae hears a soft snore from above somewhere. Hm? He was, and then he wandered off by himself * Mikari grins deviously at Jake, making one wonder what exactly is going through her mind. * Dylan sips the iced tea, and smiles to Jalanda "It's nice to graze my knuckles on stone rather than enemies.." * Feray prods the man idly on the shoulder and makes rather obscene joke that none of the group really needs to hear but it makes the man in question turn bright red and the men around him burst into laughter. >D * Jalanda hands the empty ones back to Fidelio, cleaning them off with a strangely produced hankercheif, before she assumes her upright posture again with her own tray. * Erellisae blinks, looking around her and then upwards, eying the trees around the area. * Jake quietly sips his drink, having aserted himself a little. * Mitsuo is directly above the group's heads, half sitting, half laying on a strong tree-branch, asleep in the shade. ^^; * Nathan sips at his drink again, thinking to himself * Erellisae sighs lowly, smiling wanly and crossing her arms. "... aww. I can't decide if he's too cute to wake up or if he gets Howl-ed out the tree for sleeping on the job." Hmm. * Feray shambles back to the group, rubbing her tattooed arm idly. She blinks as she hears Mitsu's snores as well and looks up. "Huh...littlebit...thought your new outfit would wake him up, not put him to sleep. But best to wake him up. We should go inside of the Inn and figure out what we're doing next." I'll send Dill up there, if you want.. * Nathan polishes off his drink, and gives the empty to Jalanda, since she seems to be collecting them A plan would be good * Erellisae sticks her tongue out at Feray with a grin for the verbal jab, before looking up at the Icarian-in-a-tree. "Well... I guess Dill wouldn't hurt him as much as my shooting him out of the tree..." ^^; * Feray hops over next to Nate and looks up at the blotch around his eye worriedly. ^^; Mmmhmm. And some ice for that eye. ;) Hrmm. Where is he anyway.. * Dill yawns from inside Jal's cowl.. And some aloe for you. I haven't seen red quite like that in a while ;) * Cassidy saunters onto the scene, observing the hijinks of the others whilst looking for something interesting to do. * * Jalanda tilts her head slightly, her eyes indicating the puffy's hiding place. * Mikari takes a seat next to the tree, cross-legged (consciously picking a spot directly underneath Mitsuo), and goes about finishing off her drink. Lemme know if ya need hand, 'lright? * Feray arches an eyebrow at Nathan and gets a devious grin. * Erellisae indicates Mitsuo's position with a thumb. "I'd send Spud, but last I saw Spud was getting hogpiled by the most energetic little me-clone I've ever seen." ^^; * Feray then shakes her head as she rethinks her next words. * Nathan chuckles C'mon, you guys, let's go inside of the Inn, huh? Cass! Hey, just in time! * Jake winks to Cassidy. "Oh ho. A fine tan you're getting." * Feray thumbs towards the inside. We should wake Mitsuo then * Cassidy glances about. * Hmm.. Chop-chop littlepuff. Lepidoptera need awakening * Erellisae ahems, and clears her breath, before cupping hands around her mouth. "...HEY, MITSU!" * Cassidy 's gaze stops at Jake. * Well.. uh.. it's a shame I'm about all tanned out then, isn't it? ^^; * Feray utters a sharp yelp and backs her ears. ^^; Mmgghhszzz...? * Dill half-falls out of Jal's cowls, before starting to flap up to Mitsuo.. Puff-a-puuffffffff! * Erellisae grins, and waves a finger. "Easiest way's the best!" ^^ Really? M...aaaagggh! O_o Agh, Erel! Warning before you do that! Oh, uhn. Yeah. Well a fine tan you have, then. * Mikari raises an eyebrow sharply at Dylan. "Eh?" * Jake pauses. * Jake winks again. * Mitsuo's eyes snap open at the randomly FLY-BY PUFFY and he nearly falls out of the tree! O_o Butterflies, Ms. Mikari. * Mikari looks up at Mitsuo, ready to dodge if he falls out of the tree. * Nathan moves to the tree in case Mitsuo decides to fall out of it Oh. Heh. Bug terms, eh. Cute. Down the road, from the general direction of the main road leading away from the village, comes a small group of villagers, returning with their belongings. They are grouped around a VERY tall and rather broad-shouldered man, who is talking loudly and gesticulating wildly. Uhm. Sorry. ^^; But... it worked, look! * Cassidy looks perplexed, if only for a brief moment, as though she's quite unsure how to reply. * * Mitsuo is half on the tree branch, half off, "Uh..hi? ^^;" * Feray blinks and turns to eye the tallish man, eyebrow raising slowly. Come now Mitsuo, its hight time you awoke. The day is running from us all ;) * Erellisae waves up. "Hi! Planning session in the inn. We thought you should be woken up." ^_~ * Jalanda watches the Mitsuo wakening with a soft gaze, staying silent, but as she feels the approach of something, her attention is draw away to the man in the distance. Can you climb down, Mitsuo? Or you gonna have Nate catch you? Huh.. Er...no, I'm okay. Sorry 'bout this... * Mitsuo clambers back up onto the tree branch, and sets about climbing down. * Mikari lowers her brow and takes a good look at the approaching, large man. Then she notices Mitsuo is about to fall, and stands up, ready to climb up and help him down, as this was rather expected. * Dill flies back to Dylan, landing on his head, looking at the approaching peoples The man has some rather coppery-blond hair and a very colorful clothing, if of simple fabrics. His light cape swirls dramatically in the summer breeze, and a piece of paper is held tightly in one of his wildly waving hands. * Mikari drops back down to the ground now that she is assured Mitsuo won't break his neck and spine in three places. ;) ... (m) ....I bet it's another frickin' bard. ^^; Destiny calls quite ambitiously today... * Nathan waits for Mitsuo to come down, not taking notice of the gesticulator yet 'lright... who's 'at? Looks important, or at least thinks 'e is... * Feray shrugs and breaks from the group, leisurely trotting over to the group of villagers slowly... * Mitsuo finally hits terra firma. ^^: * Dylan waves a greeting to the man. * Jake toasts off his drink, blushing a little at not speaking very clearly and then stands up, going over to Fidelio. 'Ey up. * Cassidy looks around morosely.. * As thrilling as ever around here.. I wonder if I -can- get myself any darker.. * Erellisae grins faintly at Mitsuo. "Welcome to land! How're you doing?" ^^ * Mitsuo ahems and adjusts his glasses, "Not too bad. ^^;" * Jalanda finds a place to set down the remainder of her tray for the workers still about, then sets about getting a better look at this fellow. * Mikari, likewise, upends her drink and drains it, so she won't be required to think about it later. The man and his group head leisurely toward the inn. As Feray gets closer, she sees that the piece of paper the man carries is worn, ragged, and browned with age. Then they duck inside, and she catches the man's words before the door shuts, "...found the map on my latest travels to the west, you know..." * Dylan turns to Cassidy So who's the local celebrety? * Feray blinks furiously and murmurs to herself.. "The west....." Sorry, didn't see you arrive. Welcome back. ^-^ * Erellisae nods, and starts to head towards Feray, motioning for Mits to follow. "So, let's go! I'd like to get inside before Mereny grabs my ankles again." ^^; * Feray glances towards Erel, chewing her bottom lip. * Jalanda comes up behind the eavsdropping Feray. "Yes. I believe we have our sign." * Feray jumps! Gah! Jal! * Mitsuo chuckles and follows Erel. Hmm * Nathan heads after the stranger * Mikari narrows her eyes in thought. "....Hrrm..." * Cassidy goes to don her swimsuit and commit to some more sunlight, possibly on the beach.. * Well, I think I'm off again, too. It's just too exciting around here, Dylan. * Feray blushes a bit at being snuck up on, eyeing the seer woman. "We need to get you some wooden shoes." Hrrrm. We were about to plan our move, Miss Cassidy. In the shade, if I can help it. * Dylan calls out to the departing Cassidy. * Cassidy halts, turning around. * Our move, huh? * Erellisae peers from behind Feray. "What's with the shouting guy?" What's the scoop? A villager woman, a housewife by the look of her, approaches from nearby and snorts disparagingly after the man. "Oh, it's Amlodd again." Uh.. * Feray eyes Erel and then brightens, eyeing the housewife. My apologies... we should wait for everyone to arrive before going inside just yet. * Jake checks out the woman. Hey! Uh...what about this Amlodd fellow? Well, I'm not going to live here for the rest of my life. It's too damn hot. And we have famous people to find, starting with J,F and L. * Mitsuo stares at Erel for a minute, noticing something, and then turns to this Amlodd fellow. The housewife shrugs. "Mostly a lot of hot air. Fancies himself an explorer, but if he's ever traveled out of sight of Cereshanti, I'm badger with three legs." Hrm.. ...Amlodd? Alright... 'nother weird 'n... * Erellisae blinks, looking round confusedly. I personally think you are far lovelier than a badger with 3 legs, miss. ;) * Dylan stretches. * Jake flashes the charm. Well, you know, I was really kinda waiting to get back on the trail of them. All this dallying around hasn't exactly gotten us any closer. * Feray groans as Jake pounces on the scary housewife. ^^; * Mikari, now standing, rolls her eyes at Jake's comment, her arms crossed. Anyway...uh...inside we go. Thanks, miss! * Jalanda considers the rumor as it's spoken. "I wouldn't be so quick to judge. There are jewels buried in the roughest of places." * Feray opens the door and hurries inside ^^; We have done great good with the Angler, Miss Cassidy. But you have a point. To the inn for shade, drink, and talk? The woman eyes Jake, looking him up and down, then chuckles, pinches his cheek, and then pats it. "Go work your charm one someone with fewer wrinkles, dear. ^_~ I may not be that old, but there's those who will appreciate it more." * Feray immediately peers about for that Amlodd fellow.. Bah, you're old? ^_~ I hadn't noticed. * Cassidy shrugs. * Sure. I'm game. The woman chuckles again, waggling her fingers at him and winking before drifting away again. * Dylan strolls to the inn, standing the porch. ...Tryin' to work some free food outta her, Jake? If people would like to come in for conference, we have people to find... Nah. Trying to be polite to the lady who gave us some information. * Erellisae blinks. "What's with the explorer... huh..?" She shrugs, and starts to head into the inn. Erelerelerelerel...! * Nathan walks into the inn, and looks for this Amlodd fellow Inside the inn, a somewhat larger crowd is gathered around a table where the man Amlodd sits, still gesturing largely and telling in a booming voice about his fight with some big nasty thing or other. * Cassidy looks at the tale-weaver unimpressedly. * * Mitsuo is just about to head into the inn, but stops after hearing someone call Erel's name. * Jalanda waits patiently for everyone, casting Dylan an approving nod, then peering inside herself. * Mereny comes streaking towards Erellisae, grabbing her around the waist and looking up at her. "Where're you going? We weren't done with the game yet!!" * Feray brightens and winks, paying for a drink at the bar. She heads for Amlodd with amazing confidence, her moves taking on a practiced movement.. * Jake listens in. * Feray attempts to squeeze into the crowd.. * Erellisae eyes the 8-year old clinging to her, and sweatdrops slightly. "Uhm, well, I just have to talk with my friends some, okay? I'll be out to play some more soon." So, any idea who the big man in town is? * Mitsuo raises his eyebrow at the littel girl, keeping his distance for now. ^^; * Nathan watches Feray in action, "This should be fun to watch." ;) Amlodd raises an eyebrow as Feray approaches, but continues to tell his story. Hey.. I've told that story before... Amlodd pointedly ignores Jake, aside from perhaps the quickest dirty look. * Mikari sticks a head in the door, beside Jalanda and just below her. * Feray grins warmly at Amlodd and quietly sets the nice cold drink down in front of him, sticking close to listen.. * Mereny sniffs faintly, then grins wide. "Well, that's easy! I'll just come listen in. That's okay, right? Right?" Without waiting for an answer, the girl takes Erellisae's hand and starts to pull her into the inn. H-hey, Mereny, wait...! * Mitsuo blinks. O_o Amlodd eyes the drink questioningly, nodding his head at it as if to ask if it is intended for him. It appears his name is Amlodd... an explorer not unlike the ones we know. He brags about westward adventures, but I do not believe they are unfounded. * Erellisae gets tugged along into the inn by the young girl, sweatdropping faintly and trying to keep just a little dignity. * Feray nods and the smile just gets warmer. "For you, explorer. I hate to interrupt your story...but....did I hear right? You've been to the West?" Uh, wait a sec! O_O Hmm. What was that paper? * Mitsuo notes that the little girl is pulling Erel so fast, they /zoom/ right past him! Amlodd puffs himself up importantly. "Why yes, I have traveled the farthest reaches of the west." He takes a hearty swig of the drink. Wait a moment! ^^; * Mitsuo runs after them! * Mikari looks up at Jalanda. "Could have 'selective memory.' s'pretty common where I'm from." * Cassidy folds her arms across her chest. * As far west as it goes, huh? What's at the end? * Jalanda raises an eyebrow. "Be that as it may, we should inquire about that 'map' of his." * Erellisae tries to tug Mereny to a halt, or at least a slow. "Erm, hang on, Mereny...!" She looks back at Mitsuo with a despairing look. "Sorry, Mitsu. She's... just as excitable as I am. Only more so." ^^; Map, eh? * Feray waves a hand at Cassidy. "She just lacks the proof of what it's like to the west....did I see correctly? Do you actually have a -map-?" ^^; Ah, that's fine...I don't think I met her, so...was just curious is all. ^^; * Mikari nods to Jalanda concedingly. "Well, yeah, true. But I'm not takin' any bull from 'im if he's a pain like any'a the others I've known... Lessee how Feray does first." * Dylan strolls in to the bar, buys a large jug of beer and looks at the table over everyone's shoulders. * Mereny stops, and grins widely up at Erellisae. "Oh! Is he your boyfriend?" :D Amlodd spreads his arms out wide. "Why, a massive cliff face, spilling over into the stars, and then into a vast sea of mist and glass and rainbows! Monsters thrive in that sea, the likes of which you've never known...huge creatures from the deep, giant fish larger than any you've seen..." * Jalanda follows inside, glancing around with a practiced eye. * Mitsuo's eyes widen just slightly and he coughs. ^^; * Nathan snorts * Feray licks her lips and kneels just slightly, smiling in an practiced 'oh wow!' look. * Erellisae 's mouth works briefly as she shuffles her feet, before bodily shooing Mereny into the inn and plopping her down at the table with the group. "... okay, you can listen in. But no more comments." ^^; * Cassidy quickly has to raise her hand to her mouth, chewing on it to catch her tongue as her eyes bulge a bit. * * Mitsuo can't help but chuckle just a little at that entire encounter and makes his way to the rest of the group. * Mikari rolls her eyes at Amlodd's undeniably inflated story, refraining from comment as Jalanda walks away. [Amlodd] And I might have a map...incomplete, I must admit, but not very. And that is no deterrant to a true explorer! Amazing! You're truly amazing! * Mereny simultaneously nods and forgets the promise entirely, peering around with interest at the group. So...this map...incomplete? Can I see? * Feray adopts a really, really innocent and stupid tone that is just vaguely grating to those who really know her. * Nathan stifles his amusement * Dylan sucks on his beer to take the edge off Feray's act. Amlodd gives Feray a very self-satisfied smile and says, with exaggerated graciousness, "Why, of course." He hands over the scrap of paper. * Erellisae looks around the bar, noting Feray as her eyebrow slooooowly raises as she speaks lowly to the party. "... uhm... why is Feray with that guy? She closes her eyes a moment, shutting out some of the loud tavern goers and focusing. * Feray brightens and peers at the map intently..."Oooh, this is so cool! Oh wow, this is just so neat...a big adventurer like you must have a lot of things like this! Many mighty tales! I don't suppose...that...that..." * Feray bites her bottom lip in feigned curiousity and anxiousness. * Feray says a little huskily. ....that you might let me keep this? The map is indeed old, though how old is difficult to determine. It shows what appears to be a rather large continent, spreading across a great deal of the hemisphere. There are mountains and lakes and valleys, some areas left blank, with a dotted line that leads to the northwest end of the continent. Around the edges are stylized drawings... * Erellisae watches Feray with a vague look of sympathetic embarassment. ^^; * Mikari catches Feray's comment, then turns her head to watch over her shoulder, resting her left arm on the back of the chair. I could pay you...if...if you wanted...but surely a great man such as yourself...! Well, you wouldn't need it....and this would be cool to keep.....a real -map- from the West! * Mereny peers at Dylan, then sniffs with a practiced air before nodding, speaking with the finality of a great and important judgement. "You look like a big cow." :D The drawings look, of all things, like the kites flown by the Garlyle Forces, and a few other high-technology things that are more or less unrecognizable, but obviously ancient. "She got tired out too fast. Wan't fair." A drinking contest, huh? * Mikari suddenly grins. Hrrrm. I could off an alternative, but I can think off someone who'd rather take you on. What's our bet? * Cassidy steps up to the plate, puffing herself up a bit. * I think I can handle that. * Dylan sweatdrops Amlodd ponders. "Hmmm. Well, what can you offer me?" He stops, looking at Cassidy, then breaks into a loud guffaw. * Erellisae gags, and eyes Mitsuo, waving a finger. "Hey! No way! Remember how you felt last time you tried!" [Amlodd] You, little girl? *snickers* I was thinkings of Mikari, Cass. * Feray glances at Cassidy, as if pleading for her not to screw this up ^^; * Cassidy grins. * I've seen more of this world than you, bud. I was JOKING! ^^; * Jalanda step towards Mikari. "It would seem you have a very interesting challenge to live up to." * Mikari waves with a raised eyebrow and a disturbing smile. [Amlodd] Pfft. Spirits, I think I was the only person who remembered who won!" * Dylan turns to Amlodd. "Hmm. How about maps of the east?" She obviously not trying to be as cryptic as encouraging. * Mereny watches Erel and Mitsuo in silence, before tugging on Nathan's arm, pointing at the pair. "Why do they act like mom and dad?" Oh yeah? Well.. I've been further east than you've been west. I've seen more oceans than you can count on your fingers, pal! * Jake watches with anticipation who's gonna drink. Amlodd shrugs. "Nothing to the east but impassable solid water. Don't you know that?" Hmm..why do who act like mom and dad? * Mikari stands up brushing herself off and walking up to them. "Need a drinker, eh?" * Erellisae blinks, making a strangled noise before summoning up a little magic in her hands. "... there. Pretty sparklies. What'd I tell you about comments?" ^^; No such small barrier is impassable, Amlodd, or have you might my tribe elsewhere? Amlodd snickers at Cassidy, ignoring her for the time being and focusing his attention on Mikari. "You want to have a go?" He looks her over. * Mereny grins, watching the magic swirl raptly and leaving her interest in Erelisae's habits alone, much to her relief. [Amlodd] Well, I bet you can hold your liquor better than the kid here, but still, no stick of a woman can beat ME. *Several of the audience nod* * Mikari crosses her arms and taps her foot, giving Amlodd a good look at her small frame. * Nathan kneels down next to Mereny, "You want to know a secret?" * Cassidy considers kicking Armlodd square and proper to get his attention back, but decides against it.. for now.. * * Feray idly stifles her annoyance at -that- comment and steps back a bit. Don't tell me we're going to have a contest between Mikari and Cassidy to decide who challenges Amlodd.... [Amlodd] Right then. *He signals the tavernkeep, and has a low, quick conversation with him. A few of the other patrons start clearing a space around the table where Amlodd sits.* * Mikari raises an eyebrow at Cassidy. * Cassidy looks up at Dylan, grinning her devilish grin. * Now that'd be a great plan. * Feray takes another few steps back and exhales softly as she allows the stupidly pleasing look to fall off her face, replacing it with an annoyed grin. * Erellisae blinks across at Feray, before hunkering below the level of the table a little. "Ut-oh." * Dylan groans.. * Nathan whispers something to Mereny * Feray rubs her neck and eyes Mikari. She leans over to the lanky woman and murmurs something quietly. * Jalanda hmms faintly, drawing a bit closer to Dylan. "It will be alright, I think." * Mitsuo keeps chewing on his bread, noting at this point, it's better to keep quiet...and be quite prepare to bolt if someone blows chunks. * Mikari grins and winks at Feray, agreeably. ^_~ * Feray winks as well, leaning back...she idly makes her way over to Nate's side of the table after clapping Mik lightly on the shoulder in encouragement. The chairs and tables reconfigured so everyone has a good view of the contest, the tavernkeep brings over a large tray of shot glasses of the preferred local liquor. o.O Eeep, Please don't hurt dill.. Puu---fff! * Mereny blinks, and starts handling the Puffy a little less roughly. "Sowwy." ^^ * Nathan watches somewhat disinterestedly, knowing the outcome already * Dill nuzzles Mereny. Puff. * Mikari readies herself, drinking a swig of cold water to wash her throat, and setting it well-aside before the contest begins. * Mereny glomps the puffy, watching the source of all the excitement around. The shot glasses are arranged in front of the two combatants, and the tavernkeep explains the rules. It is the usual- drain your glass, upend it and set it on the table. The first person unable to complete those steps looses. * Mitsuo watches quietly, expecting Mikari to kick this guy's butt. ^^ The tavernkeep signals them to begin! Amlodd takes the first drink. With a hearty swig, he drains the glass and sets it upside on the table, then grins challengingly at Mikari! * Jalanda watches the bond form between girl and puffy, wondering if it is one of fate's little recurring moments. She soon draws her attention back to the battle at hand with interest. * Mikari shrugs at his choice to go first, then grabs a shot and swallows it quickly. She doesn't bother with much bravado, and nonchalantly sets it upside-down on the table, keeping her legs crossed. Amlodd takes another drink! Still going strong. So, Jalanda, any sign of our targets in your eyes? * Mikari grabs the next shot, and swigs it equally quickly. She blinks for a moment this time, seeming to have been a little overzealous with the speed of imbibement. Not exactly keeling over yet, though, she sets the glass on the table upside-down and lets out a scratchy "ahh." Amlodd smirks and drains his third glass with no trouble! * Jake looks around. * Jake watches Mikari drink after a nod to some fly honeys. * Mikari uncrosses her legs. She won't allow any smirks in her direction, that'll be for sure. Leaning forward, she grabs a third shot and prepares herself, then downs it like lemonade and stacks it on top of the other two, in the traditional pyramid. * Erellisae watches the contest, looking faintly worried, her eyes occasionally defocusing in thought. Scattered applause from the crowd now. That stuff is somewhat strong. ^^ Amlodd gulps down another drink with supreme confidence...then starts coughing a bit! Apparently a bit much for him. However, he recovers himself and sets the glass atop the others, motioning for Mikari to go. * Mikari takes her next shot, holding it up as though she wanted her audience to take a good look at it, then upends it without difficulty. Four down on the table. * Jalanda pauses to choose her words carefully to Dylan. "The great ones are far, still. But hope may yet be born on rusted wings. That is what I see." Amlodd manages again to down the drink. * Mikari follows in turn, lining up a second stacked row on her glass pyramid. * Feray quietly watches, the tiny Mereny still on her shoulder and abusing Dill. Rusted, eh? Right over my head. Amlodd falters as he takes his next drink, spilling a bit, but manages to drink it and set it down. * Mikari doesn't take the chance to taunt Amlodd, as it's getting serious now. She takes her next shot, this time squinting a bit at it's strength before she puts it down. After the pause, though, it goes on the top, making a neat triangle of six shots. * Erellisae watches the drinking contest still, turning her head slightly towards Feray as she stares at the man. "... hey, Feray? Did you get any idea how far the map shows? If it reaches to the next... well... to where I want to go?" :/ Amlodd fails badly on his next drink, but he barely manages to drain it, though he spills all down the front of his lovely multicolored jacket. :P The shot glass plunks on top of the others, wobbles, and stays. * Feray blinks a little and regards Erel quietly for a moment before flashing her a wry smile. "I'm not a map reader, littlebit. Used to tracking, not ink. There was a big continent, though, drawn there. Mountains, lakes, valleys....the only problem is it's incomplete...but at least it gives us something to go by, right?" * Jalanda looks back to the contest, shaking her head faintly. "Don't worry. Just know that Mikari's test has begun... stand by her, and we shall see what the premonition means."" * Mikari raises an eyebrow. "Comin' kinda close to a 'foul' there, eh?..." Amlodd makes a face at Mikari and slurs, "I can still take ya, wench. Take y'r next drink!" He sways slightly. * Erellisae nods slowly. "A start, yeah... thanks a lot, sis..." * Feray quirks a faint smile at that, losing some of her cockiness and replaced with some warmth. "Hey, you'd do the same for me. Well, maybe not. I can't see you playing the 'mindless bar wench' role very well." * Mikari responds... "Well, jus'long as ya act'ly drink th'REST of it." her normal speech patterns making it ironically difficult to tell how much she has been affected. It seems even thicker than usual, though. If we walk there, I'll fill in the gaps on the map. It'll help as a framework. * Feray nods to Dyl slightly, knowing he's the expert on maps here. * Dylan sighs We've been rushing around so fast, it'll be nice to brush up on my cartography anyway. * Mitsuo walks off, going to get Mikari a STRONG pot of coffee once this is over and done with. ;) * Mikari reaches out and takes her next drink, being extra careful to show that she isn't spilling any. After finishing, she holds it up as if to prompt amazement from the crowd and starts a new diagonal row on the pyramid. * Erellisae goggles slightly at Feray, blinking. "I... can't imagine playing a wench role. True. But... you're right." ^^ * Feray winks a bit and bounces again on her heels, making Mereny bounce as well. ^^ The crowd oohs and ahs. Amlodd wobbles again, getting half the drink on his face. He licks it off clumsily, then upends the drink precariously on the pyramid. * Nathan dozes against the wall, waiting for the inevitable * Mereny blinks from the sudden movement, hanging on then shouting a "yay!" ^_^ * Mikari shakes her head, believing she might end up drinking twice as much if he keeps spilling. But, eh, no matter. She reaches for her next... and this time downs it without looking phased at /all./ Amlodd gets only a few seconds before his next turn, and another shot on Mik's stack. ^^ * Mitsuo comes back and plops a big pot of coffee on the table, then steps back. ^^; Another near-failure. Amlodd's head nods, but he manages to lift it enough to dribble the drink down his gullet, then upend the empty shot glass. * Feray glances at Mitsuo in wry amusement and then looks up at Mereny. "Wanna go bug Erel's boyfriend for a bit?" * Mereny peers down at Erellise and Mitsuo. "Maybe... 's fun up here, though. Why's Erel gone all red?" * Jalanda offers, "Don't forget, this land is a new frontier... to be the first to completely map it for the explorers to come would prove much to your peers, Dylan." * Erellisae sticks her tongue out at Feray then tries to stop the mild blush she's wearing from spreading. ^^; * Mikari nods dryly as Amlodd actually gets it all down his throat this time, not minding that he flounders awhile before going down. [Barkeep] It's a continent southwest of here. But precious few can get there, as it lies across a sea difficult to sail through. I can't tell you more than that though, as I haven't seen it myself. Not many people are brave enough to make the journey, either. Aside from that, though, it's not too long a journey...perhaps a week... [Barkeep] Maybe four or five days. No one's quite clear on that.
