Session Start: Sat Nov 03 16:58:29 2001 ==SESSION START== It has grown dark outside, and many of the adventurers are drowsing on their blankets just inside the ruins entrance. A few, however, have found sleep elusive and have chosen to explore the ancient hallways with their mystical whispering of memories... * Jalanda is not among the slumbering group, as the voices and tug of the spirits at the back of her mind have led her deeper into the ruins. With a pale hand she traces the outline of the visage of an Icarian etched into the ancient stonework... The great carving shows the Icarian on her knees, tears running down her face and her hand stretched out imploringly...but the sad image is lessed by the slight smile on the winged creature's face. * Feray slinks into the corridor which Jal stands in, the darkness covering her well and her steps light enough so that there is just a whisper of fabric against the stone...she blinks at Jal, watching her curiously. The hallway is more silent that it should be, with only a faint stirring of air touching the stillness of ages. * Jalanda retracts the hand, whispering softly. "The faces of the past... do they cry tears of sadness or joy? Perhaps we will never know the answer." * Jalanda looks behind her at Feray's arrival. * Feray blinks and notices Jal knows of her presence. She sheathes her sword, content that there is no danger...she steps out of the shadows. ^^; * Feray looks vaguely meek now, at being caught. ^^ Finding sleep difficult after your ordeal, miss Feray? Uh..no, of course not...I enjoy being freaked out so badly that I spaz during a life threatening situation.. ^^; * Feray waves it off and saunters up beside Jal, reaching out to run a fingertip along the faded outline of the 'smile' of the Icarian.. * Jalanda turns around fully in a slow, deliberate motion, her robe flowing briefly before coming to rest once again in the stillness. "I apologize for not being able to do more to assist you earlier..." * Feray blinks at Jal, a jovial smile on her lips. "Don't apologize, Jal! You were at least concerned, which matters just as much!" ^^ ...concerned... perhaps. I could see in your eyes that you faced much more than a simple insect. You were gazing into a mirror of yourself... * Feray 's cheerier facade dims into something a little more serious and she drops her finger from the 'smile'... "Anyone ever tell you that you're one cryptic lady? First that feeling you had about the devotees..." Now this... ^^; * Jalanda closes her eyes briefly, shaking her head once. "I am blessed with knowledge of what will come... but I am also cursed with it. It is not a feeling... it is a fact of my life." That's gotta be pretty rough sometimes.....being able to foretell stuff.......you always had that 'gift'? * Feray paces away from the wall and plants a hand on her hip, her silver gaze pinning Jal curiously. * Jalanda goes back to staring at the Icarian mural. "No... long ago I bore a very different face..." * Feray arches an eyebrow at that. "A different face, huh...?" * Jalanda takes off her hood, letting it fall away from her brown hair and ears. "Yes, a happy one. The only future I ever desired to see was that of my next meal with family, and the next sun-fileld morning." * Feray smiles slightly at the thought of that and then frowns. "...so...how did you end up as you are now? Was it one of those coming of age things?" * Jalanda lowers her head a bit, not responding to Feray at first... * Feray watches Jal, not pushing but really wanting to know more of the mysterious fortune teller.. No...my day to eat the King of the Seas never came to pass... * Feray furrows her brow and pauses a moment, her voice low but full of compassion. "Would I be asking too much too soon if I asked why...?" No, no, I'm sure that answer is as obvious as the sword at your side, Feray... * Jalanda looks up, opening her lavendar eyes fully again in the dim light. "I trust that you know of the Gaia conflict a decade and a year ago?" Yeah... I recall that... The heroes we now seek rescued the land from its grip... but... many of that which had been sacrificed for that victory could never be returned... ....you were affected by that, huh...? * Jalanda lowers her voice to a quiet whisper. "Fate chose a different path for me the day Iris was destroyed... one I am still following today." * Feray frowns at that, quiet... * Jalanda holds a somber face a moment, then breaks the silence. "My purpose is now to guide, that you may learn from the past, to shape the future... and perhaps I shall find my future along with yours one day." Spirits willing, of course... The Spirit presence in the room strengthens just slightly, as if in answer. ^_^ * Jalanda gazes at the mural again. "But... you did not come here to talk about my past, did you...?" * Feray clears her throat... "Can you tell me something...I mean, as clearly as you can...if I ask you?" Maybe because you're closer to the spirits...you'll be able to tell me. * Jalanda rest her gaze on Feray, studying her. "You have been deemed qualified since I met you, one who follows the bright star... ask and you shall recieve what little wisdom I may provide." * Feray averts her gaze from Jal's own for a moment before shaking her head. "....do you believe Erel is special? I mean, magically? Spiritually? Can you feel it in her?" * Jalanda considers this request... * Jalanda utters calmly, "Erellisae is no greater than any of you, all following your paths to reach the great destiny that beckons... she is special, but not in ways which may be obvious at first" * Feray looks plagued by thought for a moment before seemingly dismissing something in her mind.. "....I guess I'll have to keep a closer eye on her..." Hopefully I am correct in seeing no more threat to her safety in the near future... * Jalanda takes a few steps forward. * Feray blinks and eyes Jal.. Jal...we Lainian women respect strength greatly in others....I guess I'm old fashioned but you are strong....so I respect you. If you ever need something, I'll be glad to oblige you... * Jalanda looks thoughtful at the mention of this. "They say a promise from a Lainian is a treasure to stand the tests of time... I appreciate it." * Feray nods slightly and relaxes into a more cheery demeanor. "I guess, with that done, I'll head back to camp and try to sleep some more....you'll be alright as you are?" I will be along shortly... Alright....thanks again for humoring my somewhat brutish questioning...I'll see you in the new day. ^^ * Feray waves her hand slightly and begins the trek back to the camp out.. All is quiet in the ancient corridors as Feray slips off to their little campsite. * Jalanda returns her attention to the mural again, feeling the energies of the Spirits slightly. "This day promises great joy, but also great sadness... I wonder..." She soon falls silent, returning to her unfathomable musings as all is quiet once more. ==SESSION END!==
