The tavern is nearly filled, at least one table taken up by our heroes, who are in the process of getting acquainted with the young man called Nathan... Sue enters the common room, having been out at the inn's front desk, securing rooms. She smiles to everyone. [Sue] How we doing, guys? * Dylan swigs at a tankard * Nathan puts one foot up on the table and lean back in his chair, drink in hand already ^_^ * Syri stirs a bit ^^ Hmmm.. excellent beer. [Sue] That's good! :D Pour me a glass, Dylan? *Gestures to the mug on the table* * Erellisae is torn between staring out the window to the bustle of the town, and sending rapid-fire question after question to Nathan. ^^ * Dill puffs a greeting at Sue, from Jalanda's hood I think everyone is well, I'm just waiting for a decent explanation of what this little conspiracy is all about ^_- * Syri blinks a little and pokes his head out from behind Jelanda's head, looking at Dill. "Kwuu..?" * Jalanda doesn't seem to be drinking anything at the moment, though she has a careful eye on Rion if nothing else. ;) * Dylan stands up, slightly woozy, and leans over to pour out the drink.. Sue looks at Nathan. [Sue] Errrr....how much has Erellisae blabbed already? ^^; *takes a seat and thanks Dylan for the drink* * Jalanda blinks and refocuses on the two creatures playing hide and go seek in her hood. * Dill turns around to looks at Syri.. * Erellisae looks sheepish. ^^;; Puff? Okay, so you know we're on a quest...? What else do you already know? * Nathan spins his empty mug onto the table where it wobbles to a stop, and wipes his mouth Sue tries to tempt Syri with some peanuts from a little bowl on the table * Dill flaps around Jalanda briefly, and then lands on Erel's head * Erellisae turns, keeping an ear on the conversation as she watches the excitement of the large town out the window. :D I am well aware that you are searching for...certain someones. I'm a little fuzzy as to why. * Syri looks up at Sue, looking a bit unimpressed. "Kwu. Kwu? Kwuu." ^^; * Syri moves over and takes a few peanuts anyways. Because, they are not where they should be.. And you lot are going to find out why. Yes? * Jalanda idly looks behind her, wondering if yet another small furry creature lurks inside it, but thus satisfied there isn't, turns back to the matter at hand. Why, how, what, where. So how long do you anticipate this little shin-dig to last? [Sue] The fact that they haven't contacted anyone in several months does cause some concern. =P If they're in trouble, we'll just save them! :D * Nathan leans over to Syri, "Yes, but not in mixed company." I have a feeling this will not end quickly. The answers are yet far off... [Sue] Not really sure. Till we find them. *shrugs* They are said to be somewhere in Talachia...so I would estimate, two or three weeks' time till we get to where they SHOULD be... Long-term project huh? Hmm... * Dylan shrugs A month or so, is my guess. * Syri blinks a little. * Nathan thinks, tapping his chin a few times * Syri moves closer to Nathan. "Kwuuuuuuu." * Nathan grabs a coin from his pocket * Jalanda nods slowly, looking to the side at Nathan with her lavender eyes. "I would not have approached you if I wasn't confident in your ability. You have a very strong star, perhaps this could help you come closer to your own goals as well." [Sue] Well, Mr. Nathan, we generally get two rooms at each inn...one for men, one for women. Nothing bad'll happen. Promise." Kwu. Kwuu kwu? Sue blinks. [Sue] You guys don't seem too excited about a ship voyage... ^^;; Promise. ^^ The narrow sea's not a bad place usually. All depends on the weather Kwuu. I'm excited. I'm just excited on the inside. ^_- Sue grins. You can catch some great swordfish if yer lucky and have the right gear * Syri curls up in a little ball, his tail covering his face mostly. "Kwuu kwuu, kwuuuu...!" I've travelled far enough already, the ship just means my feet hurt less. * Feray perks. "Swordfish?" * Erellisae is looking out the window at all the passersby going back and forth, and at the lit up town. She's rather fidgeting at the same time. ^^; [Sue] Well...what say we get to bed soon? I have something neat to show you in the morning, before we leave. ^_~ In mixed company. I'll go now." ^^; * Nathan spins his chair around and hops out of it * Dylan stands up. Sue shrugs and waits for everyone to decide on bed or exploring. * Erellisae looks rather uncomfy at the thought of the last time she struck off alone. ^^; * Syri looks up a little, hopping up onto Erel's head and curling up a little again So where are the rooms in question? I'd like to see what I'm working with Mitsuo could show you. He needs to get some sleep. ;) * Dylan holds out a arm to Erel Before he falls and squishes Syri. Eh...I'll think Ill head to my room. Sue grins slightly, warming a bit to the stranger. * Erellisae shakes her head, being careful not to dislodge Syri. ^^ "It's okay. "I will join you soon enough upstairs. Kwuu -kwuu-, baby! ;) * Nathan heads to the men's room, and looks about Such the image of tranquility ^_- Sue looks around, noticing Mikari has vanished...last she saw her, she and her polite had gone off singing drunkenly for a bar crawl or something. Sue grins and heads upstairs. * Dylan is lying face-first on a bed, in a night-gown-style affair * Nathan finds a good place to set up camp and settles in ^^ * Mitsuo is already asleep on his bed. ^^; * Nathan settles into his own bed and prepares to sleep Darkness has fallen completely, and after a while, the noise outside begins to die down as the night life retreats indoors and many of the revelers seek their homes. ^^ * Syri proceeds to prowl the night, but you all don't need to know that! ;) * Jalanda vanishes from the tavern proper, as night falls, presumably to her room... Eventually our heroes fall asleep, and the night passes without incident. ^^ Morning dawns bright and early, however, with a bright sun shining... It is a bit cooler than it was in the Jungle up north, but it is still pleasant and warm for a mid-June day. ^^ * Erellisae streaks through the tavern, wide awake and sparkly-eyed. "Gooooooood morrrrrrrrninnnnnnnnngggg..!" ^_^ * Syri proceeds to try to wake Mitsuo up by curling up for a nap on his face * Feray scowls and slumps onto the table downstairs, burying her head under her arms. "...gah...she needs a mute button." * Nathan yawns with great fervor, and prepares for the morning * Mitsuo makes some sort of mrrfhing noise, wakes up slowly, and sighs, "...Sleeping on my face again, Sy?" * Dylan falls out of bed Hmpgsdgsdgsfdgf * Nathan hops downstairs and plops down for breakfast ^_^ * Erellisae runs down to breakfast, piling her plate high and sitting down. ^_^ * Feray stays motionless at the table as Nathan enters, her head still under her arms. ^^; Sue yawns sleepily and drags herself out of bed. «ooc: Erellisae, only mage with the metabolism of a hummingbird. » Not feeling your oats this morning? * Rion's rythmic snoring is interrupted by Dylan's thud momentarily before slowly resuming.. * Mmnhh? * Mitsuo laughs and gently lifts Syri off of his face, and goes to get ready. * Feray peeks up at Nathan and snorts laughter. "Feeling my....what?" * Jalanda is slowly mulling about the girl's quarters as Sue awakes, slipping into a deep blue robe to greet the day with, and pushing her long brown hair away from her face to see the sunlight. Sue yawns, thumping downstairs in a somewhat rumpled, but cheerful, state. * Syri stumbles into Mitsuo's pack, ready for a long hard day of sleeping. Mikari snores loudly from her bed, an empty bottle clutched in her hand. ^^ * Erellisae looks at Feray, looking totally serious. "Maybe you need some of Nathan's oats?" :D * Nathan winks at Feray and goes to see about breakfast ^_^ * Feray sputters and jerks up in her chair so fast she FALLS OVER. G...gahhhh! Breakfast at this inn is a sort of a salad bar affair, with all kinds of food out, some on hot plates, for patrons to help themselves... * Dylan yawns loudly as he wobbles downstairs to sit down and order brekkie * Feray grunts as she hits the floor. ^^; * Nathan chuckles * Erellisae snickers a little, before sticking her tongue out and razzing Feray. ^_^ Sue enters and winces. [Sue] Ouch, Feray... ...you little..! ^^; * Mitsuo finishes getting ready, and straps on his backpack before heading downstairs. * Mitsuo blinks at Feray on the floor. * Mitsuo adjusts his glasses. ....hi? ^^; Did I...Miss something? * Jalanda takes the bottle from Mikari's hand, and places it in a waste bin. "Such is the way of indulgence..." She slowly heads downstairs to find her friends. * Nathan helps Feray to her feet * Dylan looks at the breakfast arrangement with a look of pure apathy... * Erellisae is sitting there eating breakfast, looking angelic and innocent. ^^; Mikari snores even louder. ^^ * Feray coughs and grins weakly at Nathan. Morning! * Jalanda wraps her outer wear about her a bit tighter, approaching the table with her methodical step. "...quite true." * Erellisae giggles, then eats proper. ^^ * Feray winks at Jal. "Hey, Jal. Have a seat." * Nathan fills his plate with breakfast stuff [Sue] Okay... *in between mouthfuls* Take your time, but I want to get started soon. ^^ And we should be packed before sight-seeing, if that's all right. * Jalanda finds something to enjoy for her breakfast, though admittantly small, and has a seat by Feray. What is quite true, Ms. Jalanda? This journey has certainly not been without interesting incidents of many types. * Rion stumbles down the stairs, dropping into a seat.. * [Sue] Well...things will be interesting once we reach Chandrinos, certainly. Ah, treasure hunting. Never have so many toiled for so little ^_- * Mitsuo stands beside everyone, ready to go, and adjusts his backpack. Rion knows much of the ways of the adventurer seeing treasure and fame... he has many a tale to share. * Dylan wanders to the doorway. * Erellisae looks around, and sweatdrops. "Uhm... Rion and Mikari...?" ^^;; [Sue] I talked to Mikari. She's awake and packing, but she's just going to wait for us here... * Nathan waits by the door, pack already slung onto his shoulders ^_^ [Sue] Is Rion still eating? * Feray reaches out to poke Rion's head as she passes. * Rion unconsciously avoids the poke, tilting his head to one side. * C'mon, adventure boy. "C'mon c'mon!" :D * Erellisae follows everyone out. :D * Nathan hums a tune while he waits ^_^ Sue leads the little group easily through the crowds of shoppers in the marketplace. There is much to see, but she rarely pauses, wanting to take them wherever it is they're going....after a while, she slows and points to a building with towers that rise above the cityscape... * Dylan follows Sue, looking around with interest * Jalanda trails the bunch at her usual pace as they head outside, one hand playing with a small crystal she purchased previously. Wow...what is that, Sue? The building with the towers...? * Nathan looks up at the towers * Feray gazes about quietly, content to take in the sights. ^^ * Erellisae looks at the building, a "wooooooooooow..." on her lips. ^^ The towers of this building are made of stone, unlike the wooden, half-timbered, two-story houses and shops that line most of the streets in this older section of the city. * Dylan raises an eyebrow Big. Indeed * Feray reaches out to wrap an arm around Erel's shoulders, lifting her slightly off the ground. "It's where they lock up smart mouthed women with magical powers..." ;) * Nathan laughs! * Mitsuo laughs as well. ^^ Newer buildings are made from plaster and modern architecture, but this building towers above the rest, its every line and curve sculpted elaborately, almost grandiosely. They can see a huge, spread-winged statue of an Icarian, about twice the size of Dylan, perched on an overhang, its stone face severe and solemn. * Erellisae eeps and squirms. [Sue] That there is the Ardycee Icarian Temple. See how huge it is? Overly elaborate and decorative...it's designed to make you feel small. =/ Hmm. Taller than me... * Jalanda looks up from her endeavors to the towers, as if she is returning the solemn gaze of the Icarian. [Sue] And that Icarian statue doesn't look ANYTHING like Feena or Leen. =P Hmm...so that's the temple * Feray looks up and considers. "I don't feel small. But I bet whoever made this had a severe case of envy." ...I never really thought of the Icarians as people with...uh...metaphoric sticks up their butts. ...it is a cold place. * Erellisae looks at the statue, and blinks, watching it. Sue nods. [Sue] Yep. NOW I'll take you where we're going...keep following. ^^ *She starts off through the crowds again, heading deeper into the old section of the city. * Erellisae blinkblinks, and follows Sue. * Nathan follows along "Metaphoric sticks up their butts"? ^_- * Dylan follows, puzzled * Feray wanders along also, grinning. [Sue] That temple was built just about eight years ago. Feena and Leen were none too happy about it, either...but the Temple won't listen to them, not really. =P They brown nose, but they do their own thing. * Mitsuo blushes, "...It sounded cool when I said it...but I guess not? ^^" Not bad. ;) You just need to work on your delivery. ^_- At the end of the street they are on, they see another large building, apparently another temple, rising ahead. This one, however, is more curves than angles, and the stone is shimmering white, not forbidding gray. Another temple...? Hmm...and that place is...? As they come closer, they see brightly colored, huge, stain-glass windows in its side, and a large door open wide and welcoming in the front. * Feray blinks a little and whistles lowly in respect. ^^ [Sue] That is the Temple of the Spirits. It's VERY old; no one is quite sure how old, though we think it may date back to about 500 years after the fall of Angelou. This place feels more welcoming, for sure. Hmmm...pretty old then They near the doors and Sue beckons them in. Just inside the front archway is a little courtyard, filled with green grass, bright flowers, and a pond with a softly flowing fountain. * Erellisae is wideeyed at the Temple of the Spirits. "Wow... can we go inside...?" * Dill flaps over and sniffs at the flowers Puff! Nice bit of worksmanship here Sue laughs. [Sue] Of course, anyone can. They have occasional services here, but anyone is welcome so long as they're quiet during the service. It's a very peaceful place. Nice. ^^ * Jalanda glances in it's direction, and follows Sue inside, pausing in the courtyard to direct her attention to it's details. * Mitsuo smiles, looking peaceful himself. * Erellisae looks around, peering at everythign in her usual way. ^^ * Nathan follows the group, marvelling at it all Through the courtyard is another gate, leading into the sanctuary, which is cool but well-lit with colored light streaming through the windows. See, Nathan? With us, you get to visit cool old temples! ^_- * Dill flaps along behind the group [Sue] See...I just wanted you guys to see that this is the kind of temple Feena and Leen support. You'll notice there is an occasional Icarian statue, but not many, and they're small...there are more paintings and carvings depicting Spirits. Heh, among other things ^_- * Jalanda takes the initiative continuing further in. * Dylan smiles gently as he looks around I see what you mean... Feena and Leen just don't like all the attention and pressure the Icarian Temple gives them. ^^; This place...well, it's a bit like the Rainbow Spring, so I've heard. Peaceful, calm, filled with life. Reminds me.. of tales the old men spoke. Yes... it is good to see that some have no forgotten the way... * Dylan turns around slowly.. [Sue] Well, poke around...we can stay for a little while if you like. Let me know when you want to return to the inn and get our things so we can go to the boat. ^^ Yes.. this is very much like the spring.. perhaps when we have found Justin and Feena, I shall return here for a time. * Feray crouches down in the courtyard, reaching out to run her fingers over the grass. * Erellisae looks around, taking a deep breath with her eyes closed, relaxing herself. ^_^ There are several seats here and there, but not all point in the same direction, and most are carved of pale golden wood and padded with cushions. * Dill flies back to the flowers, and hides in a group of them. It is rather nice I must say The presence of Spirits is very strong here, to those who can sense it. ^_^ * Jalanda finds a seat in one of them. It feels healthy...wow.. ^^ * Mitsuo walks quietly, calmly, around the temple, glancing at the drawings and carvings on the walls. * Jalanda takes a few even breaths, calming her mind. * Nathan kicks back in a seat, taking it all in * Feray stands up again and rubs her neck, nervous about going anywhere or touching anything else. ^^ * Dylan smiles at Dill, and finds a seat that lets him see a good view, and the gets out stuff to draw. * Erellisae sits in the middle, looking all around her. ^^ Some of the carvings depict familiar scenes of the fall of Angelou, but there are far more showing people rebuilding, singing, laughing...growing gardens, carving sculptures. ^^ * Mitsuo smiles, "...Angelou wasn't all doom and gloom, it seems..." * Nathan studies each image carefully, considering what he's seeing Here and there, a carving shows an Icarian or the Spirit Stone, and there are others that show unidentifiable circles with rays of light emitting from them... [Sue] Oh, no...in fact, Angelou was called the Age of Light by some. ^^ It wasn't until its very end that darkness took over...and you see that it was defeated in the end, at least temporarily. What's that rock with the glowing bits? Sue hmmmms and goes to investigate.... The Icarian Order... forgets the meaning of the ancient saying. To understand life, one must honor it. The Mogay handed this down to us for reasons. All other goals are empty, leading to shallow riches, and unfuffilled hearts. It is a sad fate. [Sue] Hm, I've seen a few like that, but that particular image is rather uncommon. I know I've seen one recently, though.... *Thinks* Didn't look QUITE like that, but it was similar... Similar how? * Jalanda looks to the windows... * Dylan draws merrily, quite possibly oblivious to the conversation. * Erellisae is looking a little spaced out, but tranquil. What we saw in there on those carvings looks rather similar to the Teleportation Orb...as do some odd references to three "Dimension Orbs" we saw in some carvings in the ruins we found up north. Hmm...I suppose that makes sense [Sue] Ah well...we can speculate on the way, I suppose.
