Here's a list of possible professions you might choose for your character, divided by category:
- Travelers:
those who wander the lands, for various reasons- Merchant or peddlar (particularly good for Mogay)
- Sailor (good for most races)
- Adventurer (Well, duh! ^_^ May or may not be a member of the Adventurer's Society.)
- Mercenary/bodyguard
- Rich tourist (most likely a human from the west)
- Military:
can be Garlyle Forces or another military
- Kite pilot, tank driver, or artillery (for Garlyle or other western group)
- Foot soldier, cavalry, or archer (better suited to more primitive armies)
- Officer, requisitions and supply, or other non-combat position
- Warrior (a defender of a smaller, isolated village)
- Government:
any large government, or leader of a small village
- Royalty (lesser royalty or nobility)
- Nobility (lower nobility or gentry; young debutantes and rich men, etc.)
- Politician (bigger country, most likely western, or newly formed government)
- Diplomat (suitable for any country)
- Mayor, chief, or elder (leader of any city, town, or village)
- Academic:
students and teachers of all kinds
- University student (pick a school and subject)
- School kid (if for some reason you want to play a kid)
- Apprentice (student of a craft, usually in smaller towns and villages)
- Professor (teaches at a university or school)
- Archaeologist, scientist, engineer, botanist, historian (actively do research and exploration in their fields)
- Mystic:
students of the supernatural or magical
- Mage (attack, status, or healer)
- Seer / fortune teller / prophet (most likely from a small village or Alqada from Zil Padon)
- Priest/priestess of the Spirits (a new following)
- Member of another related religion or cult
- Craftsmen:
usually from smaller towns or villages
- Smith (blacksmith, goldsmith, etc.)
- Tailor, weaver, shoemaker
- Baker, shopkeeper
- Doctor or healer (conventional, non-magical)
- Hunter, woodsman, fisherman
- Farmer or animal breeder
- Ne'er-do-wells:
troublemakers and criminals
- Thief or pickpocket
- Gambler
- Con artist
- Pirate
