Appearance: Rion resembles your stereotypical happy-go-lucky young adventurer, armed with his trusty sword and ready to take on whatever challenges he may face. His attire isn't all that different from others who share his profession, preferring lighter clothing in the warmer locale in which he lives. His vest is typically crammed full of trinkets and do-dads, in hopes of being prepared for whatever situation he may face, or simply mementos and treasures from earlier adventures. His arms and legs have their fair share of small scrapes and cuts from his exploits into various ruins or occasional conflict with a not-so-friendly beastie. And, of course, he lugs around a backpack, good for storing loot, or making a nice pillow at night while on the road.
Personality: Optimistic and brash, Rion is almost always up for a challenge. Sometimes his eager nature tends to get him into trouble, but he even faces that in a daring and bold adventurer kind of way. Rion is a bit of a showoff, and tries to outdo his fellow adventuring competition with flashy displays.
Rion grins alot, and tends to scratch his chin as though he had a growth of week-old stubble. He's quick to get into a scrap if he feels he's been put out in some way. Overall, he's very likeable and charismatic, though in truth he doesn't appear to have any real friends.
Background: Rion is the latest in up and coming adventurers in this corner of the world, and has only recently applied for recognition within the Adventurer's Society. A native of New Parm, Rion has recently gained some measure of fame, having been party to some notable finds of some ancient Angelou artifacts within the Elencian continent.
Although Rion hasn't actually said so, rumor has it that he's the son of one of New Parm's more prominent families, though it's not known which one; and that after his parents laid down the law about him taking up the family business, he instead ran away to pursue his dreams as an adventurer.
Rion admits to having a rather bland childhood, and indeed comes from a well-to-do household, but he has yet to name names. He maintains that his life was rather boring, full of schooling he really didn't pay attention to. He has a vivid imagination, however, and has dreams of being the greatest adventurer in the history of the world ever since Justin and his amazing feats a decade ago.
Updates—spoiler warning!
The party recently discovered several startling things about Rion. First, when they were sent by the merpeople to retrieve and use a sacred artifact called the Blue Orb to save some lost merpeople, after the party finished with the Orb, Rion made off with it, making it clear he was working on his own agenda. Later discoveries showed that Rion was actually working for Gyan Amsered, who presided over the Summit of Nations and is a noted scholar; his motives are as yet unclear. Rion has also turned out to not be who he claimed...he's actually a young woman named Cassidy, disguised as a boy. Cassidy has now dropped the disguise and is once more traveling with the party.
