Ruins of the Southern Tropics

Subregions:
The Wild Country  |  The Southern Tropics  |

South of the western deserts of the Wild Country lies a land which has remained unchanged through many of the eras...the Southern Tropics. This area is one of the largest regions on the entire continent which Runic Flux takes place on, but its population is so scant and scattered that most of it is extremely thick wilderness. It is difficult to get from one village to another. The villages that do find ways to survive in the jungle have very interesting lifestyles, sometimes building vast complexes of treehouses in the trees, sometimes using supports to build their houses on a marsh, and sometimes even more fascinating techniques.

While the Tropics seem as though they've remained largely unchanged through many eras, 850 A.D. is the only period in history thus far where anyone has been known to have explored it. Perhaps they were looking for distant ruins...

Era notes:

Magic: Magic is rarely known to be used at all in this region, but information is sketchy, so it's anyone's guess what could be found. For the most part, however, the locals don't have much use for magic as a tool of individuals.

Technology: The most advanced you're going to find is simple tools for convenience. These may vary from complicated chute systems in the treetops to beaver-like dams, but there is little metal use. The only exceptions are usually devices brought in by infrequent visitors from other regions.
