Combat Skills


Combat skills are a little bit different in SO2RPG.  Rather than being completely random (which would be murder on the GM, yours truly), most of the time you use them as your action, and the likelihood of success is based on your skill level.

Strong Blow +2 STR

If it succeeds, Strong Blow will double your Attack Power for one attack!  However, you'll be limitted to just one hit.  But since the enemy only gets to defend once, it's very likely that you'll do a lot more damage.  If it fails, your attack won't miss, but it'll only hit once, and with its normal strength.


Below the Belt + 1 STR, DEX

Below the Belt is a different way to do more damage.  It's particularly useful on enemies with very high defense power.  It works exactly the same as Strong Blow, except that your reward for success is a blow that the enemy won't be able to defend against; it cuts through their armor like buttah.


Counterattack +1 CON and AGL

This skill is meant for letting the enemy come to you, rather than chasing them around forever.  This way, when you guard yourself, you'll also get a chance to attack any enemy that tries to attack you.  If you succeed, you'll also interrupt the attack they were trying to inflict on you.


Body Control + 10 HP

If your HP drops to 0, you'll really rely on this skill!  In this drastic case, Body Control will give your character a chance to save him- or herself from fainting, instead bring your HP to 1.  A good skill to stock up on as a second chance for later on.


Motormouth + 1 INT

You can activate this skill when you cast a spell by paying an extra 3 MP.  If it succeeds, the spell will happen instantaneously, no matter how much time it normally takes to cast!
